Theory Crafting + Build Compendium

Trap Master Sapper-Fletcher build :
Archer - Archer - Sapper - Sapper - Fletcher - Fletcher

Build link : http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/nz6lspbyze/
Explanation : This is for players who love tactical fights in PvP and PvE.
For archer skills, I take Swift Step because it’s a must for every archer users, Full Draw because of its short cooldown and “stucking” effect, Kneeling Shot because of its damage increase and range (no cooldown).

For sapper, I focus on Punji Stake for its short cooldown and useful knockback effect (I prefer this rather than Claymore because Claymore just deals damage and has more cooldowns to prepare another one), Cover for hiding the traps (a must have for PvP/GvG. you don’t want enemies to see your traps easily right?), Detonate Trap for fast trap activation + deals damage (You must be annoyed if someone gets near your trap but it doesn’t activate).

For fletcher, Broad Head will be your favourite skill, Bodkin point is only level 1 because the purpose of this skill is only to decrease your enemies defense (the defense penalty do not increase in higher level, so it’s a waste), Barbed Arrow level 9 for 1v1 fight, Cross Fire for mob potential and it also has cool animation lol.

Chronomancer - Psycokino build:
wizard - wizard - psycokino - psycokino - chronomancer - chronomancer

Build link: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/5icbc7uyc5/
Explanation: this build is some how a mix out of damage dealer and support, in the early game you are playing normal wizard while in the second tier of wizard you are starting to skill up a skill that you are not able to get canceled while you cast, important for psycokino and later on. with Psychich Pressure you are making your main damage + Magnetic Force later in the mid game, with some small support skills like teleport , swap and telekinese, to keep the mob in the spot. later on in the late game with chronomancer you are using support skills for your party like haste stop (dont know how useful it will be) and slow , but also very damage skills like Samsara, which i hope works good with the wizard skills.

after all the build should give the player more control of the situation and also be able to flee if it get too dangerous. man i have the feeling i have no idea anymore how to make a character build, so long no mmorpg played.

note: I dont know any stats, i dont know which skill sucks and which is actually, so i just pretend every skill is quite useful.

as i love things with time, i guess i will make more mage builds, lol

Looked through the swordsman tree and it looked pretty straightforward.

Took a look at the archer tree…man I have no idea what to choose!

It looks like there are some difficult choices to be made skill wise for archers. Without more numbers though can’t really be sure which options are better.

Archer - Archer - Archer - Scout - Rogue - Schwarze Reiter

Archer 3 times for Swift Step 15
Scout for cloaking (fun!)
Rogue for vendetta (more damage) and sneak hit (for more crit!)
SR so you have a gun, how cool is that?
Limacon says “while mounted” but since we didn’t take a mounted class I’m not sure what the character’s interaction with that skill would be.

Originally I thought Archer - Ranger - Ranger would be better for the Critical Shot, but it appears thats locked to two handed bow stance! That messed up my plans for a few builds that wanted to maximize Schwarze Reiter damage.

Here’s a “thief” ish idea:

Archer - QS - QS - Scout - Rogue - Rogue

QS QS: Get Caltrops 10, Stone picking 10, Stone shot 10
Scout, get cloaking
R5 rogue get sneak, feint, and vendetta
R6 rogue you have a few choices. Could go Sneak Feint Evasion for dueling. Or Sneak Burrow Backstab for a little more excitement. Quite a few options here.

An alternate build could also go Ranger twice instead of Quarrel Shooter, to get Steady Aim (which I hope isn’t locked to bows, it doesn’t say anything about that yet)

IMO, most skills are useful, but that depends on how you want to play your character and how much impact those skills give.

Personally, i will go all out with mister-nobody-can-spell-him (Dievdirbys)… and make a carving master.
How? Why of course, i use the druids Chortasmata skill to make all monsters plant-type. And since everyone will take the cooldown reducing statue, i will take the sp reducing statue. And since it is a beta test, i will take some skills that no one else takes, like the owl statue.

EDIT: To make it more clear, you use druid to turn enemys into plant type monsters, then use carve to deal extra damage. Of course, it also means that you can get materials for statues from any monster ! The varity in statues is mostly so that (if) multiple statues don’t stack, there are other options.

EDIT3: Apperantly, Austras Koks is effective against bosses! Thanks to @vegax87 . Of course, changing the build towards the circumstances is always a good idea.

EDIT 2: As suggested by @Erokhi , some statistics:

  • Popularity : - has yet to be seen -
  • PvP Effectiveness : Since it’s support, and quite a few skills can be interrupted easily… 2/5. Solo, anyway. (Can players be turned into plant-type?)
  • PvE Effectiveness : Mostly support, but the carve + turn monsters into plants combo might be powerful enough for single play… 4/5 ? In a team it will be 4/5+, probably.
  • Flexibility : While Druid is going to need plants around to use some abilitys, the turn enemys into plants makes the carve usefull anywhere. There is also the owl statue for sheer attack, his effectivness must be proven however. Other then that, mostly support, so 3/5 - 4/5.
  • Originality : So far, only a few even think of this class, since everyone apperantly wants to use sword or time magic ! 4/5

So, this is a hole party setup i’ve made all focused on dishing out strong mobs and bosses, and leveling effective as party, here we have:
A full retarded DPS Doppelsoldner: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/5jbwzslbqa/
A full tank frontliner Centurion: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/htd8ixynwr/
Another full retarded DPS Schwarze Reiter: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/7qpqsa5gcm/
A dps with the utility skills of a Squire: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/o0dqufm5uc/
A slave Oracle focused on buffs: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/oo356hgeq5/

A few notes about it:
The squire build is incomplete due the fact that i don’t know how the level of repair/enchancement affects the effectiveness of it.
This setup is highly focused on grinding and it is designed to not depend on anyone outside the group, in there we have sustain (With oracle buffs/heals even tho it’s not a lvl 15 cleric heal), we have a lot of dps single/aoe type, and we have an aggroer tanky centurion (which helps alot with the formations, and the it’s class tree is widely focused on tanking and havin survivability)

Well, there goes my theorycraft, it’s not a well elaborated thing since me and my friends done it without the info of skills effectiveness, so it may go wrong when it comes to the cbt/live (which i hope not) but this is it, hope you guys like it xD.

I’ve added all the builds! I’ve given it a basic title if you haven’t given one yourself, please give it a title! :sunny:

I also formatted the OP and added a build of the day (this may become build of the week in the future).
These builds are randomly chosen out of the builds from the previous day (or week in the future).

Continue theorycrafting! You may not have numbers, you may not have exact details, but it’s so much fun with what we do already have~

Once we have more details, feel free to make entirely new builds

pointing out you forgot to add the squire and the oracle

PS: And Schwarze Reiter is Archer q_q

@Sonyqt Thanks for the quick catches! Seems it didn’t save my formatting on a seperate tab

Fixed! :sunny:

Build of the day is interesting, but you should put specific reasons behind that. Is it because unique? Crazy? Efectiveness? Powerful? Meta?
And if the game is released, there should be reviews and feedbacks from people who’re following the build, making the build stand on the most effective build rankings.

@Erokhi Currently it’s randomly chosen from the compendium of builds. As soon as we have more info, better builds, I’ll add more criteria to build of the day! (or build of the week)

If you’d like to suggest criteria for future build of the day/week, I’m all open to it :sunny:

If you don’t mind, write after or before my suggested dievdirbys build that it specialises in “turning monsters in plant type with druid and then using carving for extra damage” (and to make it easier to get materials for the statues), or just “carving specialist”.

Hmm, maybe a short discription for all the builds? Just so everyone gets an general idea. A few words are enough. Of course, only if you want to.

EDIT: ups, i didn’t see that the link in the opening post link to our posts, not to the skillbuilder itself, nevermind me!

@NoElement short descriptions may be added, I’ll add it to the OP. I’ll edit it in just a minute

Also I’ll add a star next to popular builds. If members of the community decide to create full guides on their build, they’ll be a candidate for popular builds! Ofcourse this is in the future.

For now, I suggest these criterias :

  • Popularity : Amount of players who’re currently using the build
  • PvP Effectiveness : How much impact the player can do with the build in PvP
  • PvE Effectiveness : How much impact the player can do with the build in PvE
  • Flexibility : How can the build adapt to various situations
  • Originality : How original, creative, crazy the idea of the build is

Good idea, i will edit my post arcordingly !

I edited the OP, and took suggestions from @Erokhi.
I decided against adding a short note to builds, as it would make the post very long in the end. Please choose a suitable title to give the basic idea to your builds instead

Also separating my build from the OP!

Oracle Build.

Reasoning behind my class choices:

  1. Safety zone is amazing, cure deals damage, and divine might up’s my levels on all skills. Definitely worth.
  2. Carve on Dievdirbys has 0 CD, easily spammable, and since you can only have 1 statue up at a time, I just the CD reduction statue and the teleport statue as a utility.
  3. Smite has a long CD on paladin so I didn’t pick it up. Instead I plan on leveling off undead areas, so I maxed Turn Undead instead, with restoration and resist elements as nice defensive buffs.
  4. Oracle for the sweet reset loot and SP/STA buff.

Oh, one more thing.
It shouldn’t be build of the day because people won’t change their playstyle in just 1 day. It’ll be tiring for you as well because you have to check up the new builds every day. I personally prefer Build of the Week/Month.

@Erokhi It will be changed to build of the week/month as time progresses  Currently I want everyone to participate and theorycraft away builds to their hearts content, and I’ll add a spotlight to one everyday, but it will be changed to weekly around beta/release.

Reads the topic’s first post

Now we’re talking.

Here’s my Wizard/Chronomancer Build

I am not sure the usefulness of “Quick Cast” yet, if it’s redundant, I will go Wiz > Wiz > Psy > Psy > Chrono > Chrono.

My picked skills:

  1. Energy Bolt (10/15)
As this skill can be charged on top of a small splash, this will IMO makes a spam-able main DPS skill.

  2. Lethargy (5/15)
If I had a choice, I wouldn’t take this skill. This skill, I will only be using it on bosses mostly.

  3. Reflect Shield (15/15)
As the name of the skill implies. Mages by nature is squishier than their counterparts, thus I think this skill will be useful for heated situations.

  4. Sure Spell (10/10) This skill level is still unconfirmed, but if duration is at least 15 seconds anywhere in between, I will use the rest of the points on Energy Bolt.
Your next skill after activating this buff cannot be cancelled by being hit. The reason why I feel 15 seconds is reasonable is because I love “contingencies” :stuck_out_tongue:

  5. Quick Cast (5/5)
So far all mage skills doesn’t seem to take a long time to cast. This skill usefulness will be the deciding factor if I’m going to take this class path. If proven useless, I will take the path of being a Psy.

  6. Electrocute (5/5) -Filler Skill-
No description as to why I take this skill.

  7. Stone Curse (5/5) -Filler Skill-
    No description too.

  8. Prominence (5/5) -Filler Skill-
I did not take Hail because mobs will not stay there for you to hit them. However, hail will be a good skill if you’re in a party that mobs and kills. You can cast hail at a pre-determined spot, towards the direction of the lurer.

  9. Quicken (10/10)
You became a chronomancer because of this skill. No explanations needed, right?!

  10. Samsara (1/10)
I have no idea the usefulness of this skill, so I kept it at level 1.

  11. Stop (9/10)
The only sad thing about this skill is that, stopped monsters cannot be damaged. Good team-saving/self-saving skill.

  12. Slow (4/10)
I do not know what possessed me to take this skill to level 4, but I intended to keep it at level 1 or not get it at all. Maybe I got this because Back Masking & Samsara CD is incredibly long. Hahaha!

  13. Haste (5/5)
Likewise, you became a Chronomancer for this skill too, didn’t you?! No explanations needed then?

  14. Back Masking (1/5)
Long CD. But if this skill can be used to save the party from being wiped or a class with major role from death within that split second, I will get this at 5 and unlearn Slow.

Please advise on my chosen skills above! I’m very new at this and I am definitely very open to opinions.

Edit:
I forgot I had to explain why I think it’s a good(not so good ughhh) build, what I can do with it and etc.

I think this build is very well-balanced between offensive, defensive and support.

In times of boss slaying, your quicken on a major DPS class (such as Ranger) and lethargy skill on boss becomes essential.

For normal grinding, (especially in a small enclosed area), Prominence is so sexy! Just think about it, jumping flames for 15 seconds!!! XD Mostly you’ll be kiting with charged energy bolt. If things turn nasty, you can drop a reflect shield or use the famous combo: stop, haste and fleeeeeeee!

That’s all I can think of for now, I hope you guys liked this build. But yeah, do share what you think/areas of improvements!
