The world is too static

As part of the translation group, one of the impression I got about the world was the idea that the world was horrifically and brutally invaded by monsters - people were killed, settlements occupied, etc. A lot of fighting, running and action happened.

I don’t see that happening in the game as it is; the monsters just loiter around on the map waiting to be killed. Once you’re done with all the quests in one map you pack up and leave for the next, never to revisit the map again. I see an opportunity to make the game more engaging by making NPCs call back for you, and making monster behavior more organized and aggressive.

Long story short: it would be nice to have recurring events that simulate a living world being invaded by monsters and trying to take back territory. Armies of monsters could, say, invade a territory and players could be called to respond as a recurring quest. That way people wouldn’t run out of meaningful things to do after running out of main quest stuff to do. Recurring fetching quests would also be nice; NPC’s could say 'please get me some ___" and you’ll at least have something to do with your loot.

I remember playing Ragnarok back in 2002-2003. First MMO ever for me. Would you say it’s more static or as static as Ragnarok?

Sadly I didn’t get invited to beta.

Aesthetically speaking, ToS beats Ragnarok - there are some NPCs that actually walk around/are animated when you interact with them/ will fight alongside you (they do a little damage)/ can be taken down by monsters.

Functionally speaking ToS isn’t too different from RO/WoW. There are Merchant/Class NPCs that sell stuff/upgrades, Civilian NPCs that just talk, and Quest NPCs that give you quests. Town NPCs just stand there as class masters/item shops, so in a low traffic server the town is basically deserted (albeit lag-free, which is nice). Like RO, there is no real reason for you to revisit a lower-level Quest NPC once you’re done with the quest - they’ll just say the same thing over again, kinda like Pokemon trainers.

I really hope things like this change and we have more reason to explore return to older areas…would add to the hidden class stuff too, maybe.

Couldn’t agree more :3

Ahhh you mean something like BnS daily quests?

That’s really interesting. Is there like an imminent raid counter like you see in Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari?

Would be cool if there was a system like in the anime mentioned above and real world changes are based on the outcome of the raids.

I think there should be more side quests… and maybe level based quest where the same NPC will offer different quests/story as you progress. Makes content more re-playable.
