The Rank 8 Dilemma

First, this is not a complaint, nor a rant, I’m trying to ask what could be in store for us in the future.

IMC, heres a question, where do we go from here? Rank 8 was faster than anyone ever expected to the point that most players we’re able to exhaust all added Rank 8 content in less than a week that most of us are already waiting for Rank 9.

Here’s the problem, Rank 9 wouldn’t come in a few months, best case probably half a year, so what possible content could you come up with that would keep the players interested without resorting to adding Rank 9 early? Because the problem here is we’re basically basically back to the same place we were in 1 week ago and were only 1 week in.


Where did it go wrong

Lets face it, Rank 8 content (278 +) is hard, literally un-soloable depending on your class, each quest, perhaps even some maps require you to be in a team to function properly, some quests are even harder when youre in a team, The new content, at its core, added what we lacked in the previous levels (1-280), which is difficulty. (Albeit in very high doses)

Now where did it go wrong? IMC added the bonus map exploration exp cards, which makes the standard bonus of 3 into 4, but ONLY for the new added maps, what this mean is, basically you are able to skip past all the added difficulty and card your way up to 315 without doing anything.

Now, I’m not complaining about free stuffs, IMC’s intention was very much appreciated and for all we know could have been well intentioned, but they tackled the wrong phase of the game.

Instead of giving bonus cards ONLY for the new maps, they should have made it so that the bonus cards ONLY applied to the older ones, what I’m implying is, the event should have helped those who are far away from Rank 8 and far away from the new content they added instead of basically helping those who are already there and making it possible to finish the new content in DAYS.

So if we put the bonus map exploration into the levels 1-275 instead, not only would it be more efficient to level up your rerolled characters (because you fucked up), it would also make trial and error faster than possible.

Mr Kim said TOS is a casual game, not their fault if hardcore nolifers want to rush everything in one week.

Since TOS is supposed to be about many characters why not roll another 10x rank 8 chars?

This is no way in hell a casual game, it makes you reroll into boring slow content and forced to do annoying quest lines for 3 stat points.

Maybe that’s the korean idea of casual. We non-koreans prefer casual features like aura kingdom’s quest autopilot

Aura Kingdom is a really disgusting game honestly, there’s no point in anything of that game of how badly designed it is.

Compared to all those generic 08/15 MMOGs it’s not casual, but up to level 250 at least it’s casual. But the requirement is you understand the game design of TOS, that you are not interested in rushing the contant, just to complain everything in this game so retarded. The game design has its flaws at specific points but the gd is much better than all those “modern” cooly flashy cheesy stuff. The player are the retarded ones not the developer/game designer of ToS, because they do not understand how to play TOS - and it’s rushing through the content.

Agreeing with some of your points.

However, I don’t think “most players” are all done with rank 8 content and awaiting for rank9. You’re talking about a small dedicated group here imo. I play everyday and I’m no where near the new cap. And reaching cap doesn’t mean it’s done. You then have to farm mats / recipes / new gears as well.

Also TOS is based on teams, meaning you’ll also have “alts” to reach to the same point. Rank 8 classes also open up new and interesting class combinations so people will start new alts as well.

Well put! I thought this myself. I’ve found myself rushing to 260/80 just so I can nab the extra exp cards and thought, this is dumb. It should have def applied for old maps and not new ones.

Now you make me wish ToS will get the team system of GranadoEspada that’ll allow us to bring 3 chars out of the lodge in later ranks when IMC spikes up the difficulty level more.

Where did it go wrong? It went wrong long before R8 even came out. IMC keeping iTOS like lifestock to feed kTOS and treeting us like sh1t. With R8, the metawh0res finally see that they have been IMC’ed all along with their meme being bashed to hell.

The roots of the problem run deep, deeper than just looking at R8. Quick clearing of new content? I have known games in which the new content, including the new instance was clear on the first day. Thats the nature of nolife powergamers that want to be the first to clear that. And we can be lucky that EXP tickets or direct EXP giving stuff cant be bought with TP. In said game, the nolifes stocked up such stuff to be able to hit the new cap within minutes.

The super hard new content was most likely IMC’s failed way of responding to complaints from support classes. They were the only ones who couldnt solo every quest up to 280.

How are you done with R8 content when most of the R8 content isn’t even implemented yet?

Just because you rushed to 330 like the rest of us doesn’t mean you’re done unless you choose to be done.

R8 content has been a breath of fresh air for me actually. Content is actually challenging and some bosses aren’t faceroll tier. It takes a solid duo of damage and support or a full party for some builds to complete the content.

Gesti for example is a fun encounter.
2x centaurs was fun
Riteris & Flammidus
The damn Spiral Arrow archers in Tev
The caster mobs in inner wall 8 and 9
That jumpy boss in Jerome Park

If IMC continue with this mold, come rank9 and beyond might actually be good.

The whole point isnt about how people, especially nolifers were albe to reach it in DAYS, as some pointed out, there will always be these kind of people, my whole point was how IMC basically made it so everyone COULD with little effort, not to mention that you basically have to explore it anyway since the event only lasts up to 25th.

What I was trying to say is, the new content should have been done in paces with no option to skip it in a few hours, but rather help those who are too far away to enjoy the new content, not only that but putting the exp card bonus in the previous maps would also attract old palyers who have quit the game so that they could get there faster than before.

Think of it like this, once I get the mystical cube on my Rank 8 char, there wouldnt be much left to do with it until I get a practonium, now one would say that I reroll and work on another alt since as the best case here, but that would mean I have to work on this alt for 2 weeks before it reaches rank 8 and when I do it would only take me a few hours to a few days to get the same mystical cube to wait for the pracotnium.

My point here is, there should be something for the level 1-275 grind to make it faster and more efficient as those within level 1-200 characters wont even reach the exploration bonus event as it requires you to be 268, unless ofcourse youre well funded.

The way they designed the silver sinks for R8. Socket costs attribute costs anvil cost cube reroll cost etc. If you aren’t playing from early access who are grinding everyday until R8 release to stockpile silver you are in for a very bad time.

Screw anyone who doesn’t cheat, doesn’t RMT, doesn’t BOT, doesn’t buy our TP so we can ban them for said cheating,RMTing and BOTting.

at least AK lets you reset your stat and skills using game currency(GOLD) unlike ToS (PUMP $$$$ to IMC) that needs you to be MASOCHIST to re-roll and got IMC’ed over and over again
