The "PvP Channel". A happy road, even if you don't walk on it

I agree with mostly what you said except this part. I think it’ll be a huge thing in PvP. Imagine if there were OP PvP classes and everyone with those classes get together to own all the good grind spots. No one else with a different class would go to the PvP channel. Even if they do like PvP or not. So in the end, that 10% exp increase would be a huge difference in the long run when that group has no one else to fend off. I honestly don’t mind a PvP channel. But balance will always be important when it comes to these things. Especially when you can get ahead.

I like your ideas man :smiley:

@SixPool I wouldn’t worry about that, remember that it’s not a PvP arena, so you can just kill them by surprise or just get more people to help you.

Imbalance comes from everything in an OWPvP environment, even if you fix class balance it will never be fair doesn’t matter what you do.

In my opinion that is fun anyway, I’m not saying it’s something bad.

Because besides the OP, the rest are taking it the wrong way not explaining why it actually makes it fun to have a pvp open area channel, thinking that the objective is to make it fun and worth playing instead of working on no needed actions

Want an example of why people would want a pvp channel?

Pvp channels are the best when you reach end&mid end game, if you re pve you just keep doing pve things, if you re a pvp player you have not just the arenas and GvG events but you also have the opportunity to get better and to prove yourself in a non controllable area in your pvp skills, also guilds with this option can make their names meaning something besides controlling market and have the best geared people for raids( as an example i leveled my character in Aion most of the time in the Abyss zone wich is a pvp zone with no restrictions suchs a min lvl for aggro, flagged PK or whatever, plus is full loaded map, not a zone to zone loading wich made it exciting).

But this can only be seen and checked in a near future, so i can only imagine it would work because of previous experiences, but the game can turn out to be much different. Its good to think about this, but people are turning this into a hate issue instead of calming down and wait for more info.

@SixPool
Welcome to every pvp class based game :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, but if people don’t discuss it to this degree to show that there’s interest then they wouldn’t bother including it anyway. I don’t really know what you’re arguing against to be honest since you seem to already accept that there is an audience for it.

@Senses
Sorry but I still don’t understand your point. I think you are making things extremely more complicated than they really are.

People want a PvP Channel, so people show interest for a PvP channel. I’m not sure why we are supposed to wait for “more info” when it’s just showing IMC that there is an interest in a specific feature.

If you like PK and want a Player vs Player style of game, its OK a PK Channel, but when you want a increased exp rate, this channel becomes “PvE for the strongest” and lose his pvp purpose. Than you say “Oh but since people will kill another people is harder to leveling”, exactly !! Guilds, Families and groups will mob in PK Channel.

I always defend a PK Map where guilds who conquer territories can fight each other for some boss, or farming spot (We all have territories, now lets prove who’s stronger), I’m a GvG / large scale pvp lover since it comes with organization and for some purpose: show your power, defeat a rival guild player, get godlys (Like RO). For this reason I think a PK Channel would be a zerg channel where big guilds would use to monopolize grind spots for new members, farming spots and field bosses.

how i see PK related threads. i know i started one:
https://forum.treeofsavior.com/t/tree-of-savior-a-pk-system/

PK-team be like: < im here. :stuck_out_tongue:
we are suggesting this PK-channel because weve experience in other games before d fun of killing others to show who is d strongest and territorial wars in an open world pvp.

Non-PK fans:
I dont like it so it should not be implemented. :v

I’m ok with this.
But no exp boost. Ofc it will be misuse be conventionnal players, and when they will get their asses kicked off, they will come on this forum to whine and ask for no Exp Boost. No exp boost. You are here for PvP right ?

But, a rewarding system (Exp ? Drops specials ressources for PvP equipment crafting ???) based on the players lvl gap would be “at least” good to give an interest for the PK channel.

And all your answers are like this, which helps none of the people who are trying to convince that having a pvp channel would be fun.

You need 0 experience in any game to actually be good in pvp, you just gotta be good at that game. Take the example of Kinatsu_ and try to show good facts about it being fun instead of just pointing out you were an amazing pvp in some random game.

For the issue of it taking resources, we could maybe only have a pvp channel trigger if there’s a certain amount of people on the map? So you know how it makes channels the more people are on the map already? Maybe they could have the first extra channel made be a pvp one or something along those lines?

People seem to forget the Overkill feature and those blue mobs, so remove the exp boost .

maybe instead of exp , replace it with increased drop rate for bosses ?

or just plain pvp channel will suffice, you can have good grind spots and that’s good incentive already , plus the thrill and excitement of pvp .

@mikhaze03

Increased drop rate for bosses is also a great idea. It would encourage Guild vs Guild for field bosses and a lot of amazing player interaction and rivalries would suffice.

Nobody really wants a game-changing benefit that’ll make the optional aspect of a PvP channel go down the drain, but a 5-10% exp bonus (excluded from blue mobs is necessary) would at least prevent the players from being punished by playing there. Farming is obviously not going to be as efficient on a PvP channel due to the risks involved unless the group you’re with is doing extraordinarily well.

An exp bonus would mitigate this, and pretty sure most people would be satisfied with a droprate increase as well. However making it only from bosses seems a bit questionable, since it doesn’t really reward the farmers as much as the players who go from boss-to-boss. Not only that, but the bosses that drop you into an instance with your party would essentially be given a free droprate bonus due to no players being able to interfere (unless that part is reworked for the channel obviously).

If it is to be added then I’d expect them to at least make it only apply for the field bosses to make it actually play a part in it all. That way I don’t think there would be any complaints about it either due to it practically being a guaranteed competition between players.

Very well explained. +1

I don’t really agree here, you don’t go into a PvP channel with the idea of farming, at least you shouldn’t - and I also highly doubt that a 5-10% increase would be enough incentive for non PvP’ers to try it out. You’re not being PUNISHED by playing in a PvP channel, since it was a completely optional choice - you knew what you were getting into when you changed channels.

What I honestly believe will happen is the largest groups and guilds will dominate the PvP channel, leaving everyone else ■■■■ out of luck and giving these organized players an even greater advantage. (This is probably going to happen regardless of any exp bonus tbh)

Now me personally, I don’t care either way - whatever the decision I think having a PvP channel is a phenomenal idea. I would just like to see it balanced for all people who participate, and making it seem less enticing for massive guilds will probably help out the general population.

Actually the channel system works this way: There’s 1 base channel for each map, with the server automatically adding more if there’s enough people in it. If there’s less people than there were before, a channel gets removed and all people in it are sent back to the login screen. So basically a lot of maps will have only 1 channel assigned to them, making this pvp endeavor almost double the amount of channels you’d need to run the game.

it kinda bugs me that staff members didn’t respond to this topic … i mean they responded to the exp rate problem … i hope they tell us whether they’re thinking about the PvP channel or not … the PvP channel even kills the need for open pvp rooms ( like the one in ragnarok ) since it pretty much is similar in some ways.

maybe they care less for this matter bec. they already stated that they will not implement owPvP. who knows? xD its still a suggestion to have an PVP channel after CBT so maybe theyll hear this out. :3

PvP rooms will not be left out because it is mainly used for tournaments.

just like in racing. theres an official racing tournaments and theres a street race.

To clarify, the Drop boost may seem more ideal and be looked at as more acceptable than the EXP at lower levels because of people experiencing the annoying grind so early on and struggling to level in that 6-day period. But when Open launches and the rates are properly adjusted and people level into the hundreds and start caring less about levels after unlocking their classes/ranks, the situation could switch and people would start complaining about rare drops for high-level gear and crafting materials are available easier to the PvP people and say the “PvE only” players are being treated too unfairly.

Of course I’m fine as long as the channel exists, but it would be more ideal if we had some kind of boost, and a simple +10% EXP seems more fair than higher drop-rates in the long run. Also, I find it sad how people like this:
LMAO… i dont care about PVP channel exist or not at all, but “EXP boost on PVP channel” is completely bullshjt, go F*ck yourself pls
…would complain even if the Boost was 1%.
