The "Pay-To-Win" Token Scandal

If you don’t want to work for the token and can’t keep up with the market changes then I suggest you get a job and pay for your $10 for a subscription to the game.

The ability to purchase a token in a game is a luxury.

No new player deserves tokens more than the next player who invests the time to farm the silver needed to afford that luxury or otherwise purchases it with their own funds.

Token is not a monster drop, and pricing totally up to current playerbase.

Ofcourse, unless IMC impose a hard-coded restriction to set Token to 1mil cap and interfere with the market.

Think of the seller… who in their right mind would buy 100tp just to sell at 1mil? This would dissuade the seller, and end up no supply in market.
furthermore, rank8 content require 50+mils just for attribute etc.
1mil Token market price… Does seller still find it worthy to sell?

At varena, there is atleast 3token on queue in market everytime at capped price, currently its 3.5mil.
This shows that in Varena, atleast there are still constant/stable supply for Token and buyer can still accept the pricing.

so, what do you propose?

removing the only worthy privileges of having access to 10market list, teamstorage? so everyone can market as any mmo should?

is +1 dun-mission-saalus-et/ +3movespeed +30% exp +30trade alone able to justify spending 100tp for token?

until IMC can ban enough silver-farming-bot/nerf afk-farming/amount of silver gain everyday, or tldr, stop players from making so much silver per day, The Rich will always determine the pricing…


another point is, as far as new player gaming experience is concerned,
even with token at 700k~1mil back in Jun-July-August, this doesnt attract much player to play and stay…

i agree there are noticeable improvement comparing April to now Dec, even most item are made tradable on market now, rank8 is out, more class reset soon, and this still doesnt attract more player to come back

The prices of tokens went up in Orsha. From 1.5m to 1.8-2m.

If they impose a limit, tokens will cease to be sold on the market.

The issue I feel is never the token so much as the limitations imposed on players that otherwise affect the enjoyability of the game. In IMC’s futile attempts to fight RMT, they’ve instead found way to annex the player base and punish the actives. Despite the fact that bots still run rampaged and RMT is still a thing.

That is why the population is going downhill.
If you’ve been following the game, that is exactly what imc is doing here; exploiters, bots aren’t getting banned because they purchase TP. They aren’t doing much to alleviate the whole problem either, just bag loads of empty promises of ‘looking into it’, or issues magically slapped on with [resolved] like the lag on my dear Telsiai server.

Protecting the interests of their cash cows while alienating the rest is their current business model now. Sad but true.

I still don’t know why people care so much about the in-game silver value of token. $10 for a month isn’t really that much at all… It’s 33 cents per day! Half of that if you’re in South America or Asia server. Unless you’re a 12 year old with no credit/debit card then people should be OK with a token purchase especially if you enjoy the game and play almost everyday!

That being said, I do agree that the eternal bot farming is BS and they should be eliminated! Evil bots!

My only concern really, is what happens if people stop buying tokens and selling them on the market? Does IMC secretly guarantee tokens to be available all the time on the market? If so, should we know this? If not, will everyone play without a token? I don’t think so. People will pay to get the edge every time. Maybe tokens will be available 24/7 365 and my argument for a set price is invalid.

I didn’t really consider the “making silver” side of the token and it’s impact on your character and account power level. That’s a good point because the price of skill attributes are pretty high once you starting putting more than 50/100 and even some earlier than that (cough, Bokor)!

One could say, “Well, you will eventually get enough silver to max your skills.” True, so that part is not quite pay-to-win, in my eyes.

You reminded me of a time that I was really busy with work and my mother being very sick. I took some time away from the game and had most of my silver in the stash. I wanted to buy a token and guess what? I couldn’t because the shared stash is not available if you don’t have a token. Needless to say, I spent a rageful few days re-farming the money for one. Lol

The game is literally more likely to die than them removing tokens in any way shape or form.

I think as time goes on and token/tp prices inflate the ones who will suffer the most will be new players.

The best course of action in my opinion would be for IMC to start handing out free token to new players somehow.
There are several ways they can do it, through events, or email invitations for inactive accounts
"hey we see you haven’t played for 3 months, use this code on our website to receive a welcome back pack that contains some potions a gacha cube and a 14 day token"
Or a level up event for new accounts, when you reach certain milestones you get free stuff, like at lv 70 you get a free 7 day token.
Just some random ideas but you get my point.

It will creep down further and further cause of the stated reasons.

A token is must-have, you cant argue against that. Basically, TOS is a p2p game with the tokenless time serving as the free trial period. And while you are right with the token price being doable with one to two hours of real life labor, dont forget that part of the target audience of fantasy MMOs are teens, school children. And they most likely dont have a real income, but lots of time to play. A rise in token prices will severely affect them cause it effectively reduces the value of their abundant playtime.

Also, I know you are sick of us hueknights repeating this, but TOS is a casual game according to Mr Kim! And for a casual player, high token prices also have a good impact on playing.

I must wait and hope for cheap/free token and by that time the gear will be useless
