The main problem with the linear EXP, and ramble about Archers

As we are all aware, the exp gained from monsters is rather linear. In one region you get about 50 exp from a mob, while the next you get 70 exp. (Granted you get better equips, but that’s not the point here)

However ! The main difference is that you need double, or even tripple the auto attack hits to get that exp. Obviously, people make one conclusion from that: Go back to a much lower level area and grind there - the exp may be 35 per mob, but you kill everything in one hit, at worst two.

This is where Archers come in. They just stand there and shoot everything with their seeker bows. They only ever need to come back when they need to repair their weapons. On the other hand, as a swordman i need to actualy run to the enemy. At best, i’m a Peltast and gather them all up with swashbuckling. Same goes for the other classes. The Archers don’t even need a party, it would only slow them down in the grind. In the end, in a game of grind, their grind is the easiest and gives them quite an advantage.

If they had to fight equal leveled monsters to get optimum exp, this would occur less… if it weren’t for those archers grinding on the big kelpas near miners village for money, which is also a disadvantage for lower leveled players.

Ultimately, i don’t know how it is in the later levels. But is still felt it is something that needed to be point out.

I’ll start off with saying that I agree with you. However, have you played an Archer? They might be easier to farm with, but they are by no means easier to progress with. One of the first quest bosses almost 1-shot my archer. My swordsman, on the other hand, took several hits and didn’t care. What I mean is that each class has its niche.

As it stands, the mouse movement scheme needs an over-haul to stop my archer from moving TOWARDS the enemy that I shoot at. Currently, archers are the most difficult class to use due to the controls.

Also, I think you’re overlooking magicians in terms of farming. Their AoE and damage are clearly better than archers.

Edit: But I completely agree with the sentiment on EXP.

Yes, i did play Archer. Not for long, but i did. Also, i use Keyboard controls and i didn’t have the same problem.

Swordman, or more precisely Highlander, also have AoE, in terms of their very own normal attack with their 2h swords. But Magicians aswell as Swordman and Priest still need to run towards their targets, while Archers simply kneel down and shoot - they have a huge radius. I had same level archers and magicians in my party and they did 80% of the work, also thanks to that seeker bow. And don’t see that “more damage” from magicians, and even if, they still need SP, unliks the archers.

It only looks good now, later one that skill is really really bad and you shouldn’t ever pick it up as an archer in the first place. Talking to people who played Archer to 200, basically their dmg is good if they spam skills but drains sp like crazy lol
