The Gems You find

Hey everyone,

Well I found this game on Steam and though it was like 15 pages in or so; I read over the wiki and everything and this game is really a game that I have been waiting on for years. I am an older gamer ( I think 33 is old lol) but anyways… I wanted to make my first post here because I would love to (as I am currently installing the 9GB patch for the game) hear more about the game from other members like yourself.

I was reading on the boards as a guest that there are 300+ levels to this game that is amazing. I am glad there is also an in-depth crafting system and I heard that the PVP is bugged ( I hope not because I like to pvp sometimes) and I hope there is a guild who is willing to take on a newbie one day to make me feel welcomed.

I come from a long line of MMORPG games ( started back in 1999) and well its nice to finally find a game to sit down on steam and play ( I cant wait to buy the steam console one day and actually play this on the TV without the HDMI cables. Aside from this people mostly know me as Jay or my in game names like RuneMaster or lately been using video game titles where I can like FinalFantasy or for those of you know remember Genesis ( Phantasy Star) XD

Anyways I cant wait to join the world with all of you and I hope to build a community with you all and if the company ever needs someone with CM experience I am your guy  but … I am glad to be here none the less. Hope to get many replies so I can review them all and make some good friends in the world of tree savior.

Hey jpstock84,

Welcome to Tree of Savior! First and foremost is the selection of the server though, there are quite a few servers.

NA region

  • Klaipedia
  • Orsha

SA region - Silute
EU region - Femidian

SEA Region

  • Telsiai
  • Varena

Servers within the same region get cross party queueing. So for example if you’re in Telsiai, you’ll be able to queue up with people from Varena which help makes the queue time much faster.

Personally I think 33 isn’t that old, we used to have a retiree in our guild , the max level cap is currently 330 and since this is your first time playing, there are tons of rewards to be gain from the leveling guide in the major towns you can choose to start out with.

Either klaipedia or Orsha. Personally I recommend Klaipedia because they have a wide range of quests. But you’ll be able to do both quests from both cities if you’d like, but keep in mind all job advancement quest will be dependant on which town you start off with.

For getting a guild, I’d also recommend checking out the guild promotion in the other subforum here. Some guilds are willing to accept newbies while some may not.

Have fun in the game!

I am still waiting for the gems to be mentioned :frowning:

Welcome aboard! I am also 33 and love the game. Just started 3 weeks ago!

I am glad there is also an in-depth crafting system

I really wouldn’t call it indepth. At around level 50 or so you start to regularily find recipes to craft equipment (before you get it from quests for free). The equipment is usually not worth the effort, so you just accumulate the recipes unless you need to craft something for one of the collections. In some dungeons you will also receive recipes from the boss boxes that are actually useful and hence have some value on the market (things like Petamion, Max Petamion, Agny, Catacombs stuff, and so on). With the introduction of the hunting grounds you can now get your semi-end-game gear by farming again. Absolute endgame armor is Earth Tower equip that you need to earn by doing regular runs with a team - endgame weapons can be crafted by anyone eventually as a reward for finishing the quests of the highest level map. To increase the effectiveness of your gear you will also start to farm Saalus convent missions (can be done alone if need be) after level 240 (cannot be accessed before) for blessed shards (transcendence system).
Anyway, got a bit carried off… crafting is not that big of a part in the game and it’s also not very complicated. Also, if your crafting list gets too long just opening it gets extremely laggy and will freeze your game for a moment.
If you want to unlock white hair for your char you will also need to craft 100 items on that char. So don’t miss those events where you get to craft crap for almost free (like that candy basket event recently).

Don’t let yourself be discouraged by all the people who complain about the game. It’s still enjoyable but it’s also true that we regularily receive patches that break the game in some way or another until a fix arrives (which may take a while, like right now with the map exploration reset issue).

Also be aware that there will be a major update soonish (a month or two, possibly longer) that will complete change how damage is calculated. It will most likely be a major game changer for a lot of classes. They announced that there will be free resets (including class resets), so go ahead and try out different things with your new char.

Yea I realize there are going to be issues with the game ( what MMORPG doesn’t ) However, thanks for explaining more about the crafting side; I just hope to get this game launched right now Steam is having issues launching the game as supposively there are 3 files that were missing from the initial download and so i tried to verify the installation and follow the steps but it was saying i was missing a .dll file i am sure I will figure this out as I am technically inclined but if not ill mark the concern on the Technical board

I really appreciate this community’s response to the post; I want to build good quality friendships within this game and really make it great. What those who have negative thoughts do not realize to a degree, is that I am one of those people who worked with a gaming company known as GENIA INC. and I was friends with many of the developers and worked closely on a project (now shutdown due to funding) known as Brainstorm http://www.mmorpg.com/brain-storm

I was one of the CM’s who would basically take the feedback and play the game and provide the developers with bug fixes and other reports. As I said in my inital post; we did liaison work with mmorpg.com and armorgames.com and so I have a more professional outlook on games like this due to it. While some may think bad things. I am someone who is willing to provide honest and non biased based feedback on the game and help to further improve this artistic stroke of genius.

I think what we need is more community events and involvement and really make it a success like “Crystal Chronicles” and Bravely Default are ( similar style in art) … Sorry for the lengthy post again but I wanted to provide a more indepth look into myself and that you do have a good community member here I just hope to get up and running to be playing with you all soon.

Aside from crafting i heard in one of the videos made by some british guy that you can actually “mess up” builds and make it so the class is unplayable… I hope that the remedies for this isnt too bad but then again I have been utilizing tosbase.com a lot. I know the game is a grind and I really dont mind because if you can find the right class combinations it should be a breeze. I hope there are quite a bit of multiplayer content to shake things up and how indepth are the dungeons?

Well, you probably can. But I think it takes some effort to screw up so badly. It’s pretty obvious what the good skills of a class are for the most part. Some skills are rather cryptical though and their tooltip is not very helpful. In general it’s best to first check out a guide for a class. Just skip the section about stats. A lot of guides are ancient and give wrong info (as a general rule: get as much con until you feel comfy with it, get as much dex as possible for physical dmg chars, get as much int as possible as magical dmg chars, skip spr unless you want to be a chaplain, skip str because dex is superior late game).

Also, like I said already, the damage calculation update will change everything again as well. And you will also receive skill, stat and class resets for a limited time (or so was the announcement, I hope they don’t take this back). So this is a very good time to experiment with different classes and their skills.

how indepth are the dungeons

They are just recycled maps filled with recycled mobs from other maps. There is always at least one boss fight which rewards you with a boss cube (some of which are worth opening all three times). You make a decent amount of silver usually and the xp gain is also good too for most dungeons (and is the primary reason to do them - without dungeon xp you would actually have to grind at some point).
Dungeons are not difficult content, more like routine. Playing with others still makes it quite fun.

Thanks again for the assistance in this matter; i am really getting comfortable with the wizard i just wish earthquake’s CD wasn’t so long i mean maybe 10seconds but 25… perhaps this will be tweaked down the line given it would be much more desirable in case those of us dont want to go pyro to do DPS. I heard about the alchemist build but right now I am trying to determine if Chrono3 and Link 2 would do well … However I am trying to break away from the “cookie cutters” and determining if and how i can find something truly unique. The Enchanter looks good and i saw a page for the Mimic but I doubt we will get any real details on the Mimic until later patches.

Id love to have a way to sell goods like i see in the square but not to sacrifice anything major for it. The market seems inflated at the moment with the cards but I take it monster cards are a 1:1000 chance of dropping. I do plan on farming them eventually cause I would love to play card game with them as i saw on the site. I just hope I can get people to play with me :stuck_out_tongue:

I think card drops are more like 5% chance… maybe some are 1%. boss cubes drop them a lot more often.

boss cubes drop them a lot more often.

This. You will get plenty of cards by opening boss cubes. They also drop from instance bosses with a very low chance though.

earthquake

It’s a bad skill because the dmg is terrible after a few levels. Later you can only use it for the knockback and knockbacks are mostly counter-productive in pve.

I am trying to determine if Chrono3 and Link 2 would do well

Everyone loves link, everyone loves Chrono. It’s just a pain in the ass to level up. With that combo you will literally not be able quest alone anymore after reaching a certain point (probably around 280) because monster mdef will surpass your dmg skills from the lower circles (and therefore you will deal 1 dmg). That combo is quite dependant on doing daily dungeon runs to get xp.
The terrible dmg calculations for wizards will hopefully change with the big patch.

Enchanter looks good

It’s considered a bad class. Only enchant lightening is worthwhile at this point (agility even does literally nothing, they need to fix it). And it seems to be difficult to aim. I doubt enchanter shops make much money either. I have never used one so far, even though some people insist that the magic defense enchantment is quite useful.

alchemist

That’s a class that will gather dust in your character screen. On the bright side, most characters at max level meet the same fate. You just whip them out to do daily quests. Homunculus is a joke btw. You need to craft it with a bit of effort and then it only lasts 10 days (or something).

Thanks for all the input Gurgle. I pretty much made 1 character of each main class to determine the playstyle. I had to change my character name to something more fitting than “RuneMaster” ( I named mine DistantMemory, LovelyMemory, HonoredMemory and FaithfulMemory accordingly XD) so looks like I need to do a little more studying on classes before picking a main one. Archer is more AOE friendly i noticed is more “E-Z mode” with the “Z” key as long as you spec your stats right. Cleric is interesting with the heal being laid on the floor and will be taking some used to but I decided to go Kirvuis track ( dont know if i should do support with a reset scroll later) but its fun so far… Wizard wise i changed over to Pyro to determine the difference. I like Cryo a lot but they suck too much mana at times even with decent spirit and I think the class needs to be re balanced a bit. Id love to see more AOE effects with Cryos and making them a bit more like Pyro as far as damage perhaps with more BURST than AOE. Swordsman: Ok I never liked tanking but seriously swordsman track makes me actually “LIKE” to be the meatshield and I cant say that for any other game in existence.

One thing I did want to ask which i should be using the Class boards more … Squire seems fun but everyone is “knocking” the store features. Honestly I think SQ3 has a lot to offer parties with the basecamp and tables. However as i said ill be doing more research and then making a thread once i pick a main. Honestly so many choices it makes me feel alive again :stuck_out_tongue:

Squire base camp is useful (the buffs seem to be very good) but as far as I know it cannot be used inside dungeons. That reduces its usefulness by quite a bit since that is the number one place where you meet people. I guess it’s mostly just used for Earth Tower before a run. I don’t have a squire myself though.

Cleric is interesting with the heal being laid on the floor and will be taking some used to but I decided to go Kirvuis track

Krivis is okay. You get the daino buff which is always in demand (but can be turned into scrolls by pardoners and as such used by anyone), zaibas (which is a mediocre dmg skill, super powerful in combination with taoist though) and melstis which is in high demand for ET. The latter may change with the balance update.

Support for cleric classes consists mainly of heal tiles. Anything else is a plus but not a musthave. It’s a general convention to take cleric 2 for 10 heal tiles. Clerics with no int are shitty healers imho though (in normal pve scenarios where people do not have much con).

You will find that clerics can actually be strong dmg dealers too. Plague doctor, inquisitor, taoist, druid work well. Miko is always a good pick for extra dmg too if you’re going int. Terrible hidden quest though (takes around a day).

Cleric is actually the best choice if you want to solo all the content easily at a convenient pace.

Archer is more AOE friendly

Not really. It strongly depends on your class choices with archer. Generally they are not as powerful in the endgame as they seem to be in the beginning. I was quite disappointed by my musketeer.

Ok I never liked tanking

There isn’t really so much tanking in this game. If you want to tank though, get at least one rank of peltasta (and probably aim for murmillo at rank 8). Swordsmen can be good DDs. Fencers, dragoons, doppels, …

Wizard wise i changed over to Pyro to determine the difference. I like Cryo a lot but they suck too much mana at times even with decent spirit and I think the class needs to be re balanced a bit.

Pyro is purely for dmg, cryo is for crowd control (ice wall can be exploited though for boss fights) and often used in combination with chrono. Mana consumption should never be an issue. Don’t put points in spr just for that, it doesn’t really help. You will have to buy lvl 10+ potions from alchemists (marketplace) eventually either way. Also, swordsmen classes or archers can actually be a lot worse when it comes to mana consumption.

There is also a necklace for pyros called Agny. You can get the recipe from the level 110 dungeon or so. At the moment it drastically increase fire dmg output. Maybe less so after the update.

(but it doesn’t help with the high magic defense of endgame mobs)
