The elephant in the room - Arde dagger

I’m gonna go ahead and say it - arde is way too good. Devs, you guys totally screwed up on this item. I know everyone will get all defensive and make excuses because more power is always good no matter the long term repercussions, but it’s just plain bad design to have an item SO GOOD that literally every single person in your party will have it on. Doesn’t matter if the class is geared towards 2h or if they aer supposed to use a shield - nope, arde dagger!

The issue is that it screws up item progression down the line. Every other off-hand item and every 2h item was wasted dev time because the developers made a choice that is far too good for every single build out there nearly.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome to have highly desirable items at low levels that fill niches, but it shouldn’t be so good that it improves every build in every way just about. It’s also an issue that some classes, like linker, are poorly designed for scaling and gear. It’s not fun to end up with no items you really care about or want to pursue to increase a character’s power!

I’ve gotten and sold a few ardes and the more I saw it in the offhand of every person in a dungeon/mission/etc. the m ore I realized how badly the devs had messed up on this one.

There is a new system coming out on KToS. I don’t remember what its called but it increases atk/matk by a percentage. In other words these will be far better for 2 handed than for 1 handed + arde/other off hands used for ele attacks.

So off hand elemental effects could vary well see less play after this upcoming system.

Also cafrisun is all the same (problem). Once you have it other items don’t matter at all for a long long time. The biggest problem of this is that it works with just every (beginner) class.

I actually think that’s it’s cool that there is gear that you can use over a long time. System where you need to change your equip every few level tend to get boring. Better have lots of unique gear, so players can decide what they like the most and then stick to that gear and just overrefine it.

Also without Arde Dagger, full support clerics couldn’t play solo at all…

Instead of nerfing Arde Dagger, just offer more alternatives to it. Like making shields better.

Were talking about arde here - a weap you can equip at 75, not karacha/venom.
You cant enter saalus until lv 240 lol.

Yea so who cares if its stupid strong early in the game. I won’t have much bearing on the end game once the new system is released.

Yea and im telling him it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t heavily influence “end” content. Lots of games have lots of irrelevant items and their is always a bis for builds.

The 115 dungeon shield is legitimately better for any squishy.
Particularly given the number of fire enemies.
