Tree of Savior Forum

Thank you IMC <3<3<3

thank you for giving me a new game i really really want to devote a lot of my gaming time to… while im at work i think about my build… when i get home i quickly do the dishes, take out the trash, vacuum the floor and take my dog out… so i can devote my free time to lvling my char(s).

thank you Imc for finally releasing your game for anyone to play so I could quit playing the games I was (ok) with playing while i wating for a game I actually wanted to devote time to. Reddit was getting boring, league was getting boring, I already watch all the anime i want to watch… I only get sex on a schedule with my wife… There isnt much to look forward to as a nerd gamer… So thank you IMC… my brother and I are working hard to maxing out.

yea this is unlike other games i’ve played so far. in BnS I got bored after playing 3 days. I’ve been playing for a week now and so far i’m still not bored with it.

To say it’s Ragnarok Online 2.0 is a bit criminal, but that’s what it is and I love it.

Now if only Monk and Crusader had come back more or less intact (which would never happen due to how Tree of Savior’s skill system works).

But its not Ragnarok Online 2…

Why do people keep saying its supposed to be? Just because a dev worked on Rag1 doesnt make this Rag2. They are quite different games in a lot of ways.

This is simply a new IP with a lot of devs from a lot of backgrounds who made it what it is.

The basics are all there. Customizable stats, builds, headgears, etc.

I’m not saying what it’s supposed to be, I’m saying what it effectively is. Ragnarok Online was one of the best games I played (and outright brutal due to refine system) until renewal hit.

It being what Ragnarok Online 2 should’ve been isn’t a bad thing, if anything, it’s a great thing, and IMC hit the nail on the head with it.

With that said, I’m probably going to enjoy Tree of Savior for years to come if it lasts that long.

Well im just saying that a few shared features do not equal the game being something else. Many games have accesories with stats and variable builds. Those are not unique features.

If i had to compare it to any game it would be a mix of Legend of Mana, Wakfu, and Final Fantasy Tactics. 2 of which came out nearly 20 years ago and the other having come out in the last 5 years.

The character sprites are very reminiscent of Final Fantasy Tactics, as well as the Class system where you branch out from classes to varying tiers of other classes that can somtimes compleatly change how the character plays.

The story and the Background Images and the Cut in images of characters all remind me of Legend of Mana as that game had a story told in similar fashion and the art of the 2 games looks very similar.

The combat visuals and mechanics are a lot like a mix of Legend of Mana and Wakfu where they are grid oriented but action combat as well.

Just some core features that are closely similar to other games. Stats, builds, and costumes are very general things in nearly every game out there, so they are hardly relateable to any 1 game.

That said, im glad you enjoy it. Ive had a ton of fun playing it as it reminds me of many of my fav isometric games from the past, and having one i can play with lots of friends for a long time to come is great.

I don’t know man, isometric view, character faces looking almost exactly the same as Ragnarok Online’s, just one obviously being much higher resolution than the other (not surprising since almost 15 year gap), job levels, base levels, etc.

While I don’t fully agree with your choice of games for what it reminds you of (as it seriously feels to me like a super updated version of RO), two of those games you listed are games I both own and love (LoM and FFT).

The sprites are straight out of FFT.

Tons of isometric games, Ragnarok was def not the only one, every game i listed was isometric. The Job system was created by the Final Fantasy Tactics game. Ragnarok Online came out in 2002, Final Fantasy Tactics came out in 1997, 5 years earlyer. Ragnarok Online was trying to be a multiplayer Tactics. If you are going to say something resembles something, at least use the orignal source.

I think you need to accept the fact that Ragnarok Online wasnt an orignal concept and took ideas from Final Fantasy and the Mana Series to create the game. You gotta give credit to the founders in things, not just the people who duplicated that. It happens all the time where people dont appreciate or give credit to the roots of things.

I played RO first long before LoM and FFT. Either way, they’re still good games and unlike FFT and LoM, you provided the very point why most people compare ToS to RO; MMOs of roughly the same type.
