[Test-Station] Kostik Monks - two builds side-by-side experiment

UPDATE: Finally able to update this

Right now I am no longer playing priest Monk since Diev is just so much more fun to play for me. That tower defence and Carva attack alone adds so much.

I have literally stopped playing priest monk as soon as both reached 140ish range and not Diev is 152. It is just so much better in my opinion and feels.

I might get back to playing priest counterpart later but for now Diev is all the way.

So now I have a grasp at level 130+ game play on both.
So far Deviderby does way more damage.
Priest is starting to lack in heals although mass heal is cool it right now can not compete with the 11 tiles of regular heal (at least for me)

Another cool thing we have discovered is that Monk+sorc is amazing duo combo. That Russian Cat make stamina never ending and SP regen from statue is very useful for sorc for uptime.

BTW I have forgot to mention, both those builds I am playing with my friend and he is leveling mages with me (one alchemist and another is a featherfoot)

I apologies for not frequent updates, I had to take few days off game for family reasons

NOTICE: I will be editing this post to update on my expierence and how builds are doing early game/late game

Hello, Everyone!

There has been a lot of debate on forums which monk build is the greatest.
People are very opinionated on this, it seems.

In this thread I would like to share my experience leveling, comfortability of playing and my overall feel with this class.

I am making two monks side by side right now and they are as follows:
Cleric 1 > Priest 3 > Monk 3

Cleric 2 > Diev 2 > Monk

both will be Monk 3 with the forsight to the future.

Both builds have similar stat distribution with a difference in only SPR stat that I will be using on my priest variance

What I have in mind is:
Dex 100-150
Con 70-90
Rest in STR

for priest variation I am going to take away about 10 points from CON and STR and put them into SPR and use all bonus points I get from questing and whatnot into SPR for stone skin buff (to get around total of 50-60 SPR)

CURRENT PROGRESS:
Priest variance turned Monk last night. I like those double punches. I hit like a little truck already with just simple gears and 100 Str
Also I feel very strong about my heals when supporting the party (at least for now) Mass Heal FTW

Diev variance is 2 class levels away from Monk (I am planning to hit Monk this weekend) It feel awfully discouraging to boss with owl. that knockback is srs bsns.
Carve attack is strong, very strong
Buying buffs from pardoners is not as expensive as it seems. And so far I have been going full dex to hit the 150 as fast as possible. I have an idea of may be turning this one into a full dex build after all and just having it to be a pure DPS type of thing. I do like 11 tiles of heal though

More to come.

P.S. Input is appreciated and please do correct me if I should adjust something in my builds.
I am just generally discouraged when people are yelling at each other which build is better because right now I feel like they both are very decent, just different purpose

Ill be interested to see your opinion on this once both temps are C2 monk. Wish I had the time to do something like this, reallly love the idea of monk in this game.

Yea, I don’t really have a whole lot of time to do this, so it will take me a while to get both to C2 Monk.
But I feel like at C2 monk I feel like I will know which one is stronger at what.

Diev C2 alone is able to carry most groups, Laima + Zemyna statue is hella op. Owl when you group up enough mobs, World Tree when ■■■■ gets real.

Just hit Monk C1 a few days ago and I’m actually having a blast. Actually got Double Punch attribute to lv 40 and I’m just breezing through content (65 stamina atm).

Don’t know about the priest path, but the only thing I miss is Revive. Other than that, Diev all the way.

I do agree that Diev feels super strong, but I for some reason feel more comfartable with priest, at least for now.

Also I do like PvP and I feel like Priest is going to be better at PvP end game but I do not know this is just a speculation at this point - and I do not want to theorize things I would want to experience them before I talk about it

My Diev is about to hit class 14 today. I will see what happens once both are C2. I Imagine lvl 7 blast (level 8 in case of Diev thank you divine might and suncus mace) be OP with -20% cd, Also having the ability to Fade.

I do like monstrance on priest. It is so awesome. Maybe i will make a Cleric 2 > Priest 1 > Diev 1 one day and see how that scales.

I imagine monstrance+fade+divine might+20% cd reduction is going to be a blast

Working on Vubbe Gloves right now… Farming blood sux

try using energy blast on a monk with level 5 stone skin who didn’t pump spr. the block is not noticeable. stone skin is only good if you pump SPR around 70-100+++ which is not good for a monk.

also this

The following skills have been rebalanced in Team Battle League:
Priest
Stone Skin
The block rate scaling has been decreased to [SPR x 0.5] ( Previously [SPR x 4])

I am aware of that. However. Purpose of this experiment is to see how both this builds perform. So far btw priest monk is better in terms of comfort and utility, but diev does more damage, due to no need of spr. I am not sure how this will scale later, but diev is about 15 levels lower and already damage wise is stronger… so there is that

On a side note stone skin seems to be still a decent skill for pvp, instead of being an OP skill.

why isn’t magic defense, crowd control resistance rate, and block pen good for a Monk? lol. I promise you, having 70-100 points in SPR will reward you better than more STR.

people still seem to forget that, you still get 400-600 Block from a stone skin buff. most people don’t even have 350 block pen, lol.

Played My priest monk after playing deviderby monk for two days… I do miss fade a lot… May be I should have considered Cleric 2 - Priest 2…

You dont need 350 pen to hit a 400 block rate at 190 pen almost all energy blast damage goes in max block i see is 5 maybe 7 if ur lucky tested this on level 280 even with that you still die unless you have a 30k hp… Might work on single damage skill like for cannoner but still its rng try it out yourself… Now against 100 spr its good even more good if 200++ spr but this is outside arena inside arena its more like 30% chance to block even with 100 spr… So now if you want stone skin for pvp you need to divide your stats into 4

C2-P2 is more on the support side 11 x 2 heal tiles, 60 sz block rate, level 6 resu, level 6 revive, level 6 mass heal.

Fade is great in both pve and gvg

Actually hitting your target and resisting CC beats 100 more damage.

Yah if op is going for pd but i think his monk3. Anyway he can always use dispeller to resist cc. And not reaching 151++ str is kinda a waste imaging the bonus every 3 point

I do reach about 170 str or so by my calculation (considering about 20 points from quests)

Reason I do not wan to go PD is for the probability of Lama requiring Monk 3 in the future. I am not sure if this will be the case (no one is) but I want those monks be a viable when we do get ranks 8 +

Very interesting thread, @kosxe21. i like the approach of sharing what you experience from real game-play (well, as real as ‘game-play’ can get, right? hehe) and not just theorizing all day.

I am also doing some monk testing these days, but i still don’t have any final results to share + my information still doesn’t worth writing a full guide or opening forum thread about. so for now ill try to hang around here instead, and share my thoughts and experience.

my current build’s are:

  1. ‘Standard’ monk - cleric2 > priest2 > monk3
  2. Renzai super weirdo monk build - still a work in progress, ill share more about it in the future
