Test server - helpful for everyone?

Hearing that the dungeon party finder has had trouble again as a result of the patch, I thought that IMC could perhaps benefit from a
test server so that this kind of silly stuff can be weeded out before
interrupting the game experiences of all players.

A test server could also be an excellent opportunity to help players
dealing with the issues of character building. If a test server were
implemented with something like 1,000x XP or more, it would be easy to build up a new character, test out some wacky skill combinations, and see
whether it actually works, before investing hundreds of hours getting to
280 on a live server. Plus, if the test server were wiped weekly, having the bonus XP would let players level up to test out various content more easily.

Would you try checking out a test server? Do you think this could help smooth out new patches as they come along?

like sakray from before?

This is an excellent idea, but sadly IMC doesn’t like good ideas.

I used to play on old sakray, back before servers merged when the game first launched.

Was my favorite time in RO.

That being said, I’d totally go for having a testing server–even if it was a small one. 200-300% increased rates on exp or higher mob density to help players level would be fine. I’m all for anything that will let me help test stuff so we can get it faster.

Test servers would solve every problem with trying to build the right character. Better idea than a class reset IMO.

I saw your post earlier on reddit. Nice idea but I don’t know whether IMC has enough manpower or capacity to do this immediately

Yup that’s part of my reasoning too. Because there are a lot of skills that need more testing because of the trend of building around ET atm.

Those series of Beta testing should have been enough for both Developer’s and Player’s experiments. But sadly IMC’s developers looks lost that is why 90% of todays content were still from beta. There were hardly a change.

Though Test Servers could be one of the best solutions in trying to smooth things out, but I believe that it should be done every time there’s a new MAJOR content. Let’s take RO as an example, major content refers to New Episodes. Means new classes, new maps, new mobs, new items and everything major. And these test servers usually lasts for 3-4 months for finalization and to make sure that every concern from community base were heard and to make sure that they are satisfied before releasing it to the official server.

Then again, issues such as broken dungeons, quests or whatnot occurring every after minor updates are unacceptable. Normally developers would have a replica of the server which serves as a testing grounds for their new contents.

Indeed test servers would be good… however… look at the budget IMC has lolz…they are using AWS and to open another server would mean the need to fork out extra cash to get a test server with… which will only harm their pockets so to speak

Well pretty much every game needs to let them cash out in order to succeed. Every time something breaks in the game, the population declines; resulting to loss of potential profits.

All we can do now is pray IMC doesn’t make anymore bad decesions as it is lol…

Good idea. But the state of IMCs brain now looks like they are gonna be brain dead anytime soon.
