Tenet Garden Lvl 2 treasure chest crashes game and then crashes character selection

Bug Description :
Finished the quest that gave me a treasure chest key which I then went back to Tenet Garden all the way to the west side of the map where the Lvl 2 treasure chest is and interacted with it. Game promptly crashed and any attempts at trying to select the same character that interacted with the chest sends me back to the server selection screen.

FYI, I was a level 35 archer/ranger, if it might have something to do with this bug. Also, other characters I have, have no trouble getting past the character selection screen.

Steps to reproduce the issue :

  1. Obtain treasure chest key from quest by killing treasure chest monster
  2. Go back to Tenet Garden to where the Lvl 2 treasure chest is
  3. Interact with it (joypad equivalent of the spacebar)
  4. Game crashes
  5. Try to select same character
  6. Game crashes

System

  • CPU : Intel i5-3570 @ 3.40 GHz
  • RAM : 16 GB
  • Graphics Card : GeForce GTX 670 version 335.23
  • OS : Windows 7 64-bit
  • Country, Region : North America

EDIT: I tried reinstalling the game, but selecting the character that tried to open the chest still sends me back to the server selection screen.

A friend and I tried opening this chest as well, the client immediately crashed and upon logging in and entering the game again the chest was gone, our key was consumed and we now had the “Goat Horns” Recipe item in our inventory.
I’m a lvl 38 C2 Cleric and my friend is a lvl 37 Quarrelshooter.

CPU: Intel i7 2600K @4.5 GHz
RAM: 12GB
GPU: GTX 780
OS: Win 7 x64

This bug still occurs, and I haven’t been able to use my archer since.

EDIT: Finally works. Did nothing in particular. @9:08am

I tried opening this chest today, lvl 48 (C2 Celric, C1 Dievdirby). Same issue:

Got the same trouble after Apr5 maintenance.

same problem, it stole my key & crashed the game WTF
