Templar for everybody[over]

Being a good leader means being in controll of the situation, boost teams morale when they do something good, being reasonable, have tactics and other things.

I see the point all of you make, but it just all comes to the fact that swordman is in the front thus it looks better and that is why he should lead.

That’s exactly the point they want to get across.

You, as the Templar, should be leading the advance.

i actually want to see a guild alliance vs guild alliance do a Pitched battle with a formation before the begin their engagement.

but there arent enough open fields in ToS for it to happen.

just. because. it. looks. good.
I think I’m done, thank you all for coming, have a nice day.

because it fits with a classic heroic leader RPG role

than a cowardly leaders of MMORPG ones

You know what else forces you to think? Putting Templar into only one class branch.

What would you rather have: A guild to lead,or to play something else and perhaps be in a guild?

I like that they aren’t making it like every other MMO does, where everyone can make a guild at the click of a button and new players are confused by the clusterfxck of choices available. Also where there’s no system that checks whether or not guilds are active at all,so they just sit there.

The 10 million silver fee also makes you consider it all more carefully and take it more seriously. This is all a good thing. You can’t have everything the way you want it.

I’m swordsman > Templar. Im happy with it. But i can see your point. They should make Templar a hidden class with very very hard class quest change. Just being in the party for set time is lame. And accesible to all classes. Yeah, i know they want to make classic Swordsman-leader things. but sometimes, you just want to make All Archer Guild or all All Mage Guild…something like that…

I thought I was done, but your suggestion is valid and I actually like it.
Even when the information on to how to get Templar will be in net, the fact that you will need like a party or something to complete it is actually really good, this way the leader is chosen by the party itself, not the classes they have chosen.

I think you misunderstood.

The job change quest for becoming a templar is:

  1. Be in a 5 man party.
  2. Stay in the party for 5 minutes.

It’s not a democracy, no one in the party is deciding who is the templar, rather the templars job advance quest is just that.

I was planning on making a guild on my main Schwarz Reiter…

Then this was confirmed.

Good. Now I have an excuse for not making one.

Let’s face it. Most of us just want the fame and glory of running Knights of the Blood Oath Log Horizon a super-awesome guild, but don’t want to put in the time, effort, and sacrifice.

ToS makes the sacrifice BIG -> you not only spend gold, you also need to literally limit your class to the Swordsman class, and one of your 10 ranks is dedicated purely to running guilds. That literally tells your enemies your hand: “Hey, I’m a swordie, prolly a barbarian, and one (prolly more) of my ranks is Templar.”

Perhaps the other 3 classes can figure out some other way of making an endgame that doesn’t involve guilds. And that too would great. All this hype over who gets the GvG spotlight is not healthy.

Why, in the name of War, would you do that?(be in a 5 minute party)
Templar supposed to make a guild it’s not good for anything else.

Don’t ask me, I’m just stating what the job advancement quest is.

An “excuse for not making one.”? People search for an exuses when they don’t want to do something.
People want fame and glory? Let them.
They don’t want to spend time building such guild and want an immidiate reward? They won’t even create one.

Umm Templar is a powerful CRAFTING class. Like other crafters they make something, a guild, a guild tower/zone, and buffs to other crafters.

Dunno where this ‘Frontlines’ idea is coming from. PvP-wise it doesn’t matter where you are, and if you choose the front, you run the high risk of being CC’d to death along with any other guild members you teleport up there next to you with your 1 hour cooldown GSummon skill. You should either be behind your key DPS members but close enough for Battle Orders to take effect, or in the back to use Summon Guild Member to regroup and buff/heal. Then again all those things are one-offs, so it doesn’t matter much in the end.

Even in Medieval wars, the General (If present) would very rarely even be on the front once the fighting began, and would shift back between the mid-front - middle during the battle. If I ever see a Templar on the front-end, he’s getting swarmed by 21 Zombies.

nah, i dont think barbs will be a thing, i believe highlander / hoplite will eat barbs on high level

My main concern as to why it should be tied to swordman like a rock to a drowning whitness.

So what do we have here:

  1. Summon Guild Member
Summon an online guild member to your location. You cannot use this skill to summon members into an instance dungeon.
  2. Warp To Guild Member
Choose a guild member to teleport to. You cannot teleport to guild members who are inside instance dungeons.
  3. Build Guild Tower
Improves the functions of your Guild Towers.
Level 1: Warping from Guild Towers available.
Level 2: Access to personal warehouse at Guild Towers available.
Level 3: Access to the Guild Growth menu at Guild Towers available.
Level 4: Access to Guild Events at Guild Towers available. (Guild Instance, Guild Raid and Guild Field Boss.)
Level 5: Access to Guild Base at Guild Towers.
  4. Reduce Craft Time
Place a flag which shortens the crafting time of all guild members nearby. Only available when nearby a Guild Tower.
  5. Battle Orders
The ability of Guild Members near the Guild Master will temporarily
increase. The effect disappears when you move away from the caster.

Lot’s of good skills, yes, crafting time reducer, warping - good stuff, BUT, it only aplies to the guild members. Meaning, if you are a Fencer without a guild everything you do is just spending an entire rank only for 1 skill.

This what i have in mind while reading all of the arguments saying that it’s just aesthetically appealing, what about logically appealing.

I think limitation is what it makes special.

Not being able to do something because it needs a bigger sacrifice than you’re willing to offer…
I prefer one guild with a dedicated leader over tousand generic ones.

It needs courage for the devs to limit players to something like this. I appreciate that.

That’s the point, to make a role of a guild leader to be more comfortable for people, in a sense of being able to play as a class they’re most qualified in.

If they won’t change it in release, then believe me all people who wanted to make a guild they will make it.

Then, why did I started this topic? Because it would create a better game feel, that’s all. It’s not vital for the game’s success.
