Being a veteran korean mmorpg player (15 years wasted on in Ragnarok, gulp) just want to share my opinion on some issues I see it ToS.
Just like in many mmorpgs, character (even max lv) without items should mean nothing. And leveling proccess should be as fast as possible and as fun as possible. 1-200 in ToS is very fast and pretty fun. After that it just becomes tedious - grinding mobs and popping cards from very boring quests. I don’t mind grinding - grinding should be essential in such games. But not for EXP - for items. Players should grind to get better and better items - and ToS have a very wide range of opportunities for that. In fact, you can improove your kit almost forever. Then make a new character and grind for eternity to gear up him. And so on, and so on.
Ideal example is Diablo3 (not a MMORPG though) - fast leveling - forever grinding.
How can you improove leveling it ToS and stimulate ppl to make more new chars - play more to gear them up? Well, the most unharmful way, to my opinion, is to boost Team Level EXP Bonus. Like 10 times.
500% exp bonus for 50 LV seems pretty legit. Such system works extremely well with those players who’ve been playing for a long time. Those players who want to try out some new builds and classes, but are too bored to go the full circle of leveling at almost the same speed as they did before.
There are plenty of ways to further make leveling faster and more interesting, but I guess upgrading Team Level is just the most easy to implement and won’t cause any troubles to anyone. In ideal, it would be cool to see new dungeons without any drop but with awesome exp and tons of mobs. Dungeons solely for leveling. It’s sad that current dungeon system doesnt encourage players to go full runs at all - everyone rushing.
I just hate grinding to level up but love grinding for items and good equipment
