Team Battle and Guild Battle - Obvious flaws and fixes

We’re glad that IMC decided we were finally worthy of getting game updates. We truly are. However, the current Arenas are, like I’ve been saying for months, absolute garbage. They’re not fun and are hardly competitive. Here’s what needs to be done:

Guild Battle League

-The game’s current engine simply does not support the number of people that GvG attempts to put on screen. It simply doesn’t. Please limit GvGs to 10x10 AT MOST. We’d love to have larger battles, but the game simply cannot handle it. Even 10x10 is pushing it a lot, but maybe people will get to see what’s happening around them;

-The map used for GvG must’ve been designed by someone who has never played the game. Everyone knows that fighting top-down is a huge disavantage, because the camera’s angle and UI get in the way. Random spawn positions are cancer. There should be two fixed spawns, both teams alternate sides between rounds, and the corridors need to be MUCH bigger. Else it’s just chokepoint defense;

Team Battle League

-If you’ve read any of the dozens of topics being made on this section, you will knows that the 50% damage reduction for PvP is NOT WORKING for a bunch of things. Most notably, Sorcerer’s Summon damage and Damage-over-time bleeds, though there’s probably a lot more than that. If you can’t make it work properly, don’t implement it at all;

-Rank 5 people joining the TBL is fine, just as long as THEY ONLY GET MATCHED WITH OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE ALSO RANK 5. Nothing is more depressing than finding out your partner for the match is a Wiz3Ele3 or a full CON Pelt3Squire with no offensive skills;

-Decay effects are staying in-between matches. This leads to people starting rounds with depleted HP. Once again, if you can’t make it work properly, don’t release it at all;

-PvP rewards are ABSOLUTE CANCER. There should be no rewards for PvP whatsoever. This leads to people who just queue up and have no intention of actually playing, just because they want the points. This gets in the way of people who want to PvP and end up with people who don’t care if they win or lose. If you want to have rewards, make it so that you can only get points if you win;

-There is no class balance between matches at all. It’s unforgivable that IMC believes it’s okay to randomly distribute players without any selection. Situations where one team has 3 clerics and the other has none should not exist;

-Revives and Ressurections should be disabled in TBL. People die when they’re killed, and they need to stay dead. Heals should be massively nerfed in PvP as well;

-If this wasn’t obvious enough, the regional servers need their own TBL and GBL time schedules;


And another suggestion: The current PvP modes are not enough. People want the ability to fight anytime, and both gamemodes have fixed time tables. Give us an unrestricted PvP room. A large zone that can be freely entered and exited, with PvP enabled. Same rules as TBL. That’s all we need.

I agree with most of this.

I get like… max 10 FPS in GvG, it’s not fun.

The random spawns are completely pointless as well, since it’s not hard at all to find the enemy base anyway.

As for TBL, I do like that we get points for losing, but there should be some kind of system that makes sure people who just afk in matches don’t get them.

Honestly, the fact that all servers have the same times for GvG and TBL is ridiculous. What even is the point of that?

To your last point: god, yes. Just give us a PvP map we can go to whenever we want. Duels aren’t cutting it if you want to try fighting in groups and TBL is limited to 4h a day. Can’t be that hard to do :confused:

Diev-PD are already OP, don’t need to make them more.

I agree on the Guild Battle section.I disagree on the nerfs on heal and on the no revive and no ress in TBL.I also would like to keep the PVP rewards but to only gain shop points upon winning like you stated.I agree that we need a better matching making system to avoid 3+ Clerics on one team and 0 on the other.And lastly you are right about the rank 5 situation,they need to have equivalent rank 5 participants on both sides.

I would like to kindly remind people that “I don’t agree” without explaining the reasoning is not an argument, it’s a subjective opinion. Which may or may not be biased.

What do revives and ressurections have to do with Diev-PD? If anything, it’s a major nerf to Clerics. They can’t chain-revive one another anymore.

So you’re saying it’s perfectly fine for people who have been eliminated to be brought back? Considering Clerics have tons of skills that give them several-seconds long immunities that prevent you from stopping them, and only a handful of classes can counter those. If you could reliably stop Revives and Ressurections it would be one thing, but it’s too easy for them to cast a Safety Zone and bring people back.

Revive and Ressurection can only be cast once for the duration of that round. I do not think it needs any more nerfs.

It’s still super unfair because a single revive can bring back multiple people, and clerics can then instantly max-heal them.

I didn’t want to explain myself because I thought it was self explanatory with the ress and revive nerf that they weren’t such game breaking skills anymore.Anyways XEarlx sums it up for me.Regardless if you think I am biased or not my opinion was heard and that was “my point”.

I seen you around in the forums and your good at trying to get more out the person when they stated their opinion to get the thread more awareness but this will be my last reply on this topic so no matter what you write I said what I had to say about your thread and there is nothing left for me to argue(debate) about with you.

Good luck on IMC fixing and correcting some things that you think that need to be nerf.I hope you get what you want because I do agree on some of the stuffs you mention.

I actually disagree with most of your points, but agree that something must be done to fix GVG and BL:

-The engine doesn’t support 15v15

I actually suspect that the game is attempting to render spectators. In a few early games where no one cared/was spectating, the game ran fine for me. Only in the last couple days were they disastrous. 10v10 isn’t a viable solution to this problem though, optimizing the game, however, is. 10v10 creates a whole lot more of a problem, it forces a very specific meta and makes even more important a few key classes (diev3 being the most prominent). I’m not saying that the game should cater to special snowflake classes, but guilds will get pigeonholed into using a handful of classes. It won’t stay fresh that way.

-The Map

I agree with the randomness of it being somewhat pointless, but think the corridors are fine. Maybe slightly wider, but choke points should absolutely still exist in this type of fight.

I believe matchmaking should be fixed across the board, for everything. Not just as far as mixing low class ranks with other low ranks, but mixing ELO rankings similar to others. I also believe that class balance can be attempted better. It’s ridiculous that I can be on the same team with 4 healers, 5 games in a row, when the other team has none. This should also apply to dungeons and missions though.

-Decay
Agree with this 100% actually, and I believe mounted classes should be mounted at the start

-PVP Rewards

There needs to be PVP rewards, it’s why every guild went neutral and there’s no incentive to do world GVG. The incentive CAN’T just be glory, people need something to shoot for to do it. I agree that only granting points for winning teams is fine, but I think the way WoW did it might be a better idea: Only a certain number of matches contribute to your RANK, and points/rewards are given based on your rank, rather than a static number/currency.

-Class Balance

See previous mention in GVG. I actually think it’s perfectly okay that classes kick the ■■■■ out of certain other classes, and sometimes you’ll be on the receiving end 3 or 4 games in a row. This is the way it should be in a game with so many. The issue right now is that some classes have no real counter, in particular there’s not really any way to deal with complete damage immunity.

-Revives/Res

I think 1 res per round is okay. Healers aren’t imbalanced, it’s more of an immunity issue with some flavors of clerics.

-Schedules

Yes.

-edit RE: Bleeds/DoTs/Summons

It’s clear that these aren’t working as intended, same with warlock balls. I don’t think casters need to be nerfed, or that the damage needs to be nerfed more (people still whining about cryo, lmao). What would be an elegant nerf is that the target priority of multiple targets on top of each other is always the player, rather than the gigantic temple shooter or the invisible warlock testicle shield. Nothing crushes a musketeer’s soul more than pinging what you think is a warlock with a 30k snipe, only to find that you hit an invisible ball.

As for fletcher/wugu, I dunno. It’s their shtick. What’s the difference between a 30k snipe and 30k poison damage? The latter ticks you down slower and gives you time to think about how dead you are, but functionally I don’t think they’re any less fair.

That makes Priest3 even less relevants than Dievs (especially coupled with PD), which are already one of the best classes for pvp if it isn’t the best one…

And yeah, I think that having Priests able to revive their allies is interesting.

I’m sorry, but don’t remove choke points, there is enough free space there already, some classes will be better close-quarters (rogue), some other way around.

Yes I do know about the camera. In fact, I’ve adressed the same issue a few days back somewhere on this forum. But there’s basically nothing to do with it, sadly. Randomized spawns are necessary for full-yolo tactics. I’d rather suffer from camera then lose in GvG variativity. I’d say just make max camera range 15-20% farther there and that’ll be ok I think. Things from below will stop being SUCH a surprise SO fast.

The real issue is that IT’S A FCKN FORTRESS IN THE FORM OF A CHAOS STAR and around is that free space with other height level and somehow I’m sure it makes that map less fps, at least for me. It’s all the Chaos Gods.

PETSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS every time when I try to shot and a pet is close to my target the shot hit the pet and not the player, I play with xbox 360 pad and have no problems in PVE to target thing, but in PVP when everything have to be quick and the screen is full of things is really hard to see where is my target, only the mounted classes or hunter have to be alowed to enter with the pet, the rest is just a mini free inmortal shield <_<
