Targeting monsters with mouse ui

Who else having a hard time attacking (clickng) monsters when companions or HUD(e.g. party member tab) are in the way?

I did. The game plays so much better with keyboard. I play swordsman and cleric though. The game recommends you to play keyboard with those chars.

I would like to if only i play melee character but I’m playing archer class

you can play any class on keyboard.

mouse for general aim, tab to change targets, ctrl to lock on.

i’m not saying it’s better, just saying you -can-.

i find mouse and keyboard so much easier to use… but there’s the little glitches like no “use” key the way space works in keyboard mode, or trying to click through things (especially pets)

I would like to be able to keybind Z to left mousebutton (this was the first thing I did when started playing, trying to find a way to do this). That way ranged would not need to actually click the mob but in it’s direction. This would work well for Melee characters aswell.
Personally I find it hard (or rather anoying) to play with the keyboard since I am not used to it. I could take my time and get used to it, but I don’t wanna.

If mob target was priority over all others it would work so much better!!
I doubt it is that hard to do.

But there is a downside~Using keyboard key instead of holding mouse key, sometimes you will get a decrease of normal attack speed, due to game lag…
It seems the game process mouse key more effectively than keyboard~

The other downside of control is, the priority of auto attack seem to be as same as other keyboard key command~Thus, I always unable to use any of my skills or even sit if I standstill and let my auto attack going~

And the targeting system treats pet as much as mob~It’s very difficult to lock on a mob when there’s a pet on top of it~

I use the mouse UI as well, but I configured it to my liking. First, I never use the mouse to normal attack. I configured the keys so that “SPACE” is autoattack and “Z” is jump. I simply hover/point the cursor towards the mob if I want to do a skill (this is very satisfying for a barb). I also edited the XML files so it lets me use the “E” function from the keyboard UI. Which means I don’t have to click on an NPC to engage. I just need to go near them, and press “E”.

I hated using the mouse for normal attacking or clicking NPCs, it just seems off. For example, when autoattacking a “flying” mob using a mouse, you won’t be able to click it if you click on its body, you’d have to click on it’s shadow. Or in order to click a Goddess statue, you won’t be able to, unless you click on very small and specific part of the statue. The mechanics just felt wonky to me. My configurations isn’t perfect, but it works for me.

hm, this sounds like an idea…

which xml file?

in “hotkey_default.xml”, copy the code for "hotkey ID=“SELECT”. It’s the one under “ToggleRest”. Then just paste it in “hotkey_mousemode_user.xml” in the same place under “ToggleRest”, then save.

btw, I forgot to add, you actually have to hover your mouse on the NPC then press “E” in order for it to work. It still works well though, especially since you can just spam “E” in order to finish the quest dialog and accept the quest(or complete it).

If you can get your hands on a standard xbox controller, try that. It’s awesome! I’m playing my wizard with a controller, it feels perfect.

yeah gotta say, Controller is the way to go. Mine died on me the other night and I tried both Mouse/Keyboard, I bout quit playing. Then my controller started working again! SOOOO much nicer.

You think you have a hard time when it’s just a pet or two? Try clicking mobs when you’re a bokor…

Also several quests can’t be done without swapping to controller or keyboard… The Orsha statue requires pixel perfect aim… God… it’s painful sometimes…

Is there a way for your char to not attack the target when you click on it on mouse mode?
