Swordsman's Restrain has been buffed making stun builds possible

As topic, Restrain has been buffed to have a 40% chance of stunning enemies (previously 20% chance) at level 10, with a 60 sec duration and 120 sec cooldown:

Also, it has an attribute to slow enemies by up to 12 seconds after the stun wears off:

Fast-attacking builds make the most use of this skill, eg. Corsair’s Double weapon assault or Doppel’s Deeds of Valor, but this opens up for additional cc builds as well.

This is great news for people who want to go Swordsman C3, I’m included!

Fast attacking builds benefits the most of this skill, yes, but so do classes that have tons of CC (Rodelero) and classes that have great mobility (Cataphract) and also skills that benefit from Stun or Slow (Cataphract’s Steed Charge and Barbarian’s Cleave)

The difficulty I find with going Swordsman c3 is that you have to sacrifice a LOT in order to get that 40% stun rate.
With a Rodelero build you have to sacrifice going Peltasta for the additional block.
With a Cataphract build you have to sacrifice the Finestra buff from Hoplite.
With a Barbarian c3 build you have to sacrifice Doppel and Deeds of Valor, which would make full use of the Restrain buff…

Decisions, decisions…

PS: With a Rodelero build, there’s no real need for Restrain as you already have Montano and its attribute Montano: Size slow, which basically mimics the Restrain stun + slow combo, except Montano has a shorter cooldown and is not chance-based like Restrain. Guaranteed stun from skill use is always better than chance stun.

Which is why my reasoning about either creating a specialized build, or a diverse build. People talk about the “NEW” class advancement system causes imbalance, while there’s still a lot we need to sacrifice for the build that we want to actually build.

As you said, Swordsman C3 -> Rodelero won’t be able to do manual blocking and no Swash Buckling to aggro enemies either. However, you get tons of CC and can and able to lock them down to death.

Swordsman C3 -> Cataphract will lose Finestra, Synchro Thrusting, Pierce, and Stabbing - which are really essential if you want to build a High DPS Cataphract. However, if your restrain proc-ed, then you can caught up to them really fast even without Trot, providing the enemy trying to run away.

As for Barbarian: You don’t need to go Barbarian C3 to get Cleave and Helm Chopper - You can get them in Barbarian C1, and it opens up your build to go Corsair C2 but you will lose but you will lose Seism, War Cry, and Frenzy; or go Barbarian C2 and retain those 3 C2 skills and then go Doppel for Deeds of Valor. - This build probably the best bet to create a high DPS build while still retaining your Swordsman C3.

Barbarian C3 is just THAT much better than Barbarian c2 though. Just look at the numbers.
For your “main” builds (eg. Cataphract, Rodelero, Hoplite, Barbarian, Corsair), my suggestion is go max circle or don’t bother.

Would it be good sacrifice 35% Finestra critic for 40% Stun? I was going for Hoplite 2 but the Restain looks very interesting now.

Sacrifice damage for cc? It’s up to you but I wouldn’t. Corsair c2 build already doesn’t have strong damage skills like Barbarian c3 or Cataphract c3 or Doppel.

Im not going for Pvp builds…I want full Dps character… Now that I have dual wielding I can increase my Crit rate easily. Also Dust devil Cs 2 is decently powerful…

I’m confused on this. Did they change the class advancement system again so that you can’t go back to previous classes back to the original locked rank system?

The simulator that’s constantly updated is still showing that you can go to whatever class you want if you’re at a high enough rank so I’m not sure what to think :frowning:

I think hes is talking about if u go for Build 3 rank… If u go for full 3 + 3 you can only have 2 classes.

If that’s the case then yeah, you’d have to give up some stuff since you can’t have everything. Even if they make it so your max rank is higher than 6, you’d be giving up future classes if you went back. I thought that was the point of the system

The only reason I thought they thought otherwise was that they used examples that required the specific rank to ie Swordsman C3 -> Rodelero or Cataphract and Barbarian C3 to Doppelsoldner.
