Swordsman C1-> Highlander C2 -> where to go from here?

Alright, so I’m getting close to my fourth circle, and having a hard time finding definite info on classes.

Loving the Highlander play so far, and keep getting compliments on how crazy my damage and survivability is, but I also keep hearing that barbarian has insane self buffs. At the same time, I can’t find any info on these buffs online, except for old builds. For most of those it’s stated that the current barbarian abilities aren’t working as intended. (For example, that savagery is applying bonus strike damage to all damage types, not just stab damage. Also, I can’t even find savagery on most sites that list barbarian abilities.)

I’d like to try adding on another swordsman class for c4, but it looks like if I want to stick with 2h swords for all the Highlander buffs, I’m limited to swordsman c2, highlander c3, or first circle barbarian.

I’ll be experimenting either way, since that’s one of the main benefits and joys of an in development beta. I’m just curious if anyone further than me has already gone this route and has some feedback on things they’ve tried.

The barbarians I’ve run into that are the same level as me haven’t been much help so far. Their auto-attacks seem stronger, but I seem to clear mobs much faster. At the same time I don’t know if this is a question of gear, stats, or playstyle.

If you want to keep overkilling and not dying, i recommend you barbarian c1 and c2.

To be honest with you, I think Barbarian is going to be nerfed again.
And because of that, I am making: Swordsman > Highlander > Highlander > Highlander > Corsair > Corsair
It is all about PvE as I really do not care about PvP, and I do not enjoy being so reliant on any sort of buff.

Why corsair?
20chars

Probably. That’s why im not trying barbarian, since the idea is to try things that will be viable for release.
I also like to be able to wear any weapon i happen to get, so im taking classes considering the +1 weapon (highlander 2 handed weapon, Hoplite 1 handes spear and later cataphrac for 2 handes spear).

Simply because I care not for a nerf (speaking of the old Barbarian and Corsair), and Corsair is funny.
I am going to lose a lot of DPS for not picking Barbarian at any point on my build, but… I do not like Barbarian, and Highlander is just… Asking to be picked again whenever I can advance.
Corsair is cool - enough said.

If you may getting into the thread for other reasons, I am currently making a “AFK Shop” build, to test how the system works. (Don’t confuse AFK repair shop with AFK “z hold”).
Thats it: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/ialkoo93i3/

The biggest doubt I have there is on the Barbarian, I just want the rest of the classes to Level Up as fast as I can to get to squire, so I don’t know if Barb have any synergy with Cataphract. I am willing to not go Cata, but I would like just for the mobility (leveling up faster also since I can travel the map faster).
What you guys think? I am currently lv44 on that char, so just got Sword>Highland. Also that took me only like 40min.

PS: Also, if someone knows any Squires/Alchemist, I would like to know if first, you can log off and leave the repair shop open, and secondly, if I can leave it open while I play another character (To know if people will need to multibox on release or not).

You can go Hoplite 2 and go 1 handed spear and dagger with Finestra.

Are the abilities just that good, or is there another buff / attribute that stacks with what I currently have that makes it better, or both?

I’m not doubting, I’m just curious. The only answer on the forums seems to be ‘barbarians do it better’ and ‘you have to pick barbarian to do the best damage.’ I just don’t see anything in this beta to back it up yet, so I’m wondering what I’m missing.

My perspective is just from a current highlander, without barbarian experience. I guess I’m just wondering if these responses are from people with just barbarian experience, or experience from past betas when things were different.

Just the base damage is so high, you can go full crit and do insane damage. Most other classes need strenght to do damage, because the base damage is low, and since dext gives crit and evasion, it serves as both offensive and defensive. High damage with Overheat, good AoE. If they go highlander for the 50% extra Crit damage, then you just overkill with 1 skill. Basically.
