Swordsman 3 - Skipping Gung Ho and Concentrate?

So I’m considering skipping out on Gung Ho and Concentrate entirely on my S3 -> Pelt -> Rod 3 build. (I know not optimal at all)

From what i’ve gathered around the forums these two skills are simply leveling tools. Which isn’t to appealing to me, since i’m not to concerned about leveling fast in the first place. Cause the builds already pretty weak. There’s also the concern of them just falling off at higher levels and wasting buff slots. Making the 14, or however many points, I put into Concentrate worthless half the time anyway.

So I want to know if I should take these skills anyway knowing that they’ll likely not be used or if I should put them into other places? Since all of the other options (Bash, Thrust, Pommel Beat) are pretty bad themselves.

you can level fine without them. if you follow the quests you’ll probably rarely see mobs above your level. i would suggest getting pelt before your second rank of swordsman. the extra skills will be more useful.

Having both at 5 is good enough since there’s nothing else to really spend points on anyway after maxing double slash, pain barrier, and restrain. Their main damage will actually come from the attributes which is very cheap to max and helps out a lot in the early levels.

The rest of the skills are just junk from my experience, except bash is useful every now and then for the knockdown.

Thanks, I may take you up on that. I went that route on my first couple of swordies and found it easier myself. Didn’t think much on it till you said so though.

I was afraid of that. I hate just dumping points around when everything useful is maxed.

I’m considering just dumping them all into Bash though. Not that it helps it much.

I don’t think anybody going sword 3 would ever leave Pain Barrier at level 1. It and Restrain are the only reasons to go Sword 3. I see what you mean though.

I’ll make sure to check that thread out once i’m off work.
