Swordie/Peltasta/Hoplite/Doppelsoeldner/Dragoon build

Hello!

I’ve been playing kTOS for a while now, and I’m fine-tuning the build I’ll use for iTOS.

I’m set on making a Swordsman.

The build I have right now is

Swordsman / Peltasta / Hoplite C3 / Doppelsoeldner / Dragoon

So the plan with it is, to be a DPS and also serve as a bruiser (off tank).
I only take the three buffs from swordie.
Then, Guardian, Umbo Blow and Swashbuckling from Peltasta.
For Hoplite, Finestra, Stabbing and Pierce, with one point less in Pierce to get Spear Lunge.
Then I get Cyclone, Deeds of Valor and Mordschlag from Doppelsoeldner.
Dopp C2 isn’t worth it because the other 3 skills need a 2H sword to use.
So I get Dragoon to finish off with 2H Spear for cake icing DPS.

Now
this is the thing: Some people tell me it’s not worth it going Hoplite
C3 because one crit gem in my weapon will do what the extra 5 finestra
points do now, and that adding another class like a Corsair, will add
more to my DPS than the extra 5 points in Stabbing and Pierce.
Another
two suggestions were to add a Cataphract level here, for the move speed
and earthquake, for the AOE, or even a Squire for the utility of
repairing weapons.

What I need to know is: If I don’t get Hoplite
C3, and get Corsair, will it really improve my DPS more? Because from
what I understand I’d have to switch to Spear + Dagger to fully benefit
from Corsair. This conflicts with my strategy of getting 2H spear from
Dragoon, and having two stances: 1H Spear + Shield for tanking, and 2H
Spear for DPS.

Or, is it worth it getting Cataphract and getting 2H spear 3 ranks earlier + another AOE + move speed?
Or, is it worth it getting Squire for utility? How much will this hurt my DPS?

u should get spear throw lvl 5 and long stride lvl 1 too.
id go for hoplite cus finestra is really good

I also had an interest in this build.
(though i changed my mind, im looking for a 2h sword build now.)
here is mine:

i think the spear trow with its aoe and 0 cd is probably your primary dps/spam skill.
dragoon skills might out damage corsair 1hspear + dagger, i don’t know.
but I’d prefer 1h + shield with swashbuckling over 2h spear and 1h spear + dagger.

Ok when people say things like this, I wish they told me WHY.

Long stride sucks because if the monsters are moving at all, you miss.
And Spear Throw, nice damage, nice AOE range, but takes SO LONG to fire… And the damage is only actually GOOD if you use a Geras Spear. Kinda restrictive, isn’t it?

1H + Shield / 2H Spear is what I’m going for, actually. And Dopp also allows me to use a 2H sword, in case I find a REALLY good one that makes it worth to do that instead of 2H spear. Or even as a situational thing, keep one in my bag you know?

spear throw has the bind attribute, and u can use it with 0 cd if u atack a close enemy.

long strde is just to have a gap closer, 1 point only.

bash lvl 3, guardian only 1, spear throw 5 (get points from pierce) and dont need mordscharg cus it sucs
and no dragon soar…

Why bash? I have knockdown from Umbo Blow.
Why Spear Throw if it sucks (animation delay so slow and if they move at all, you miss, and the damage is not that great unless you have a Geras Spear)?
Why only 1 guardian? And the extra points on what? Rim Blow?

Unless I’m missing something…

more knockdown is aways good
spear throw u can use 1 point if u want
and guardian bonus is bad, only costs more SP and u lose more dmg

See but losing DMG there isn’t a bad thing. Because I’m going for two stances: DPS and Bruiser(OT).
So as a Bruiser, I can benefit from more defense and the less damage won’t matter…
But when I’m DPSing, I’ll probably be using either a 2H sword or 2H spear, depending on the better weapon I can get my hands on. Right now I don’t have the dragoon rank yet, so 2H sword for DPS.

bro u will be using 1handes spear and shield for leveling and high lvl change for 2h spear…

Ive got the Same build. Problem is Finestra can be replaced w gems and they say Cata 3 has better AoE and skills than Hop 3 Spear Throw…

Yes, but I only get the 2H spear with the dragoon rank. When I’m still a Dopp I can use a 2H sword.

People who say the gem crap don’t understand: Finestra AND a gem is better than having just Finestra OR just the gem.

Spear Throw sucks anyway, I’m not taking it. And screw Cata’s AOE, I have Cyclone from Dopp. And if I really feel like I need a spear throw, I’ll take Gae Bulg which is better than Spear Throw.

Dude you’ve been playing kTOS all this time so u know better than the majority of ppl around these forums, u should be telling us what’s good/bad instead of asking us for advice, many ppl base their opinions on the skill calculator alone and see “omg spear throw 0 cd OP!!!” and then they go out preaching it

Ahahahahah so that’s why a lot of people say contradictory things here. I was hoping to find more who actually PLAY it. Thank you for that LOL

I actually have opnions on everything. But I’m allowing other people to pitch in because maybe they mention something I haven’t thought about.

While your all skills are on cooldown, Spear Throw is the only way to do damage with a skill. And you can spam it just under your feet, be it boss or be them mobs. Zero cooldown is still a thing.

Truth! But the animation delay is SO shitty…
And I run out of SP as it is…
