Swordie fixes to keep us relevant

Just going to go over a few proposed changes to the entire swordsman branch that would hopefully bring us up to the same level as the other classes as we are severely underpowered in comparison. These will mostly be tweaks to skills and attributes I feel are underrated or could use a boost. Anyway, on to the proposed changes in order of ranks. (will update tomorrow as it is very late now)

Overall change: Add stat scaling to skills.

SWORDSMAN

Provoke: Increases provocation when enemies attack by 50% per attribute level. Also has a chance to provoke all targets in a small radius when receiving or dealing damage. Provokes all targets in a large area when performing an overkill.

Concentrate Enhance: Increases the additional damage of [Concentrate] by 5 per attribute level. Max level 50.

Gung Ho Enhance: Amplifies the physical damage increase effect and the decreased defense effect of [Gung Ho] by 2 and 1 per attribute level respectively. Max level 50.

HIGHLANDER

Cross Guard: Usable while wielding any 2-handed weapon.

Cross Guard Enhance: Increases the physical defense increase effect of [Cross Guard] by 5% per attribute level. Max level 5

Cross Guard Extend Stagger: Increase max level to 10

Crown Reduce: Increase max level to 15

HOPLITE

Finestra Physical Damage: Adds 25% of your DEX and CON to physical damage while [Finestra] is active.

Pierce Bleeding: Enemies hit by [Pierce] have a 20% chance per attribute level to be afflicted with [Bleeding] for 6 seconds. Bleeding damage is proportional to the character’s physical attack. Max level 5.

CATAPHRACT

Two-handed Spear Mastery Penetration: Increases your damage vs plate targets by 10% per attribute level when equipped with a [Two-handed Spear]. Max level 4.

DOPPELSOLDNER

Deeds Of Valor: Toggle skill. Drains X amount of SP per 10 seconds per skill level. 1 stack always active. Additional stacks still time based. Upon successful block, stacks are reset to 30 seconds.

DRAGOON

Two-handed Spear Mastery Big Game Hunter: Increase max level to 10.

Gae Bulg Attack Zone: Creates an attack zone for 15 seconds where the spear is thrown. Increases physical attack and magic attack by 10% for party members within the zone.

Gae Bulg Defense Zone: Creates a defense zone for 15 seconds where the spear is thrown. Increases physical defense and magic defense by 10% for party members within the zone.

Serpentine Bleeding: Increase max level to 15.

This is just a small list of changes that would greatly help swordies start to catch up to the other classes in terms of both dps and utility. I have left out a few classes either due to them not needing any significant changes or inexperience with the class. Let me know what you think of the changes and if you think any of them might be a little too strong or need buffing even further. Though 1 thing I will not compromise on is Cross Guard being usable with any 2-handed weapon.

At least one of Gung Ho or Concentrate should be percent based.

TL;DR make these two skills percentage based and our dps would probably sky rocket from ewew to pewpew not as high as archers but nearly competent as wiz’s

TBh if they buff gungho they would need to buff guardian as well. Maybe double the evasion bonus to 36% depending how much gungho is buffed.

Dunno why they made it so you cant have both gungho and guardian active at the same time tho. Well i kinda do but it makes their balancing harder. Currently its not much of an issue cuz gungho blows.

Concentrate can be freely buffed becuz there is no competing buff.

Why is the tl;dr longer than the original post?

oh i meant the op not you’re post my bad

im guessing thats to why imc is buffing up swordsman in ktos, because their statistics probably show that there are only 5-10% of ktos population playing sword…im thinking that even the 0 cd skyliner is nothing but trash in ktos well idk just making up theories on my mind

Yeah when I’m doing the lv100+ missions I almost never see swordsmen. I’ve been soloing everything up to this point but at 225 it’s so hard to even do anything. The damage I’m taking is massive and I can’t really deal any back. I’m totally fine against bosses. But a high level ranged mob, especially magic, just ruin me. If I could just use Cross Guard to stagger them I’d be but I can’t do that with normal mobs because due to weapon switch it takes too long to set up and by the time I get a successful block, I’m dead anyway
