But it’s a spear build though, he’s gone Hop 2 presumably for the Spear lunge.

He’s ended up with Dragoon and the most likely progression with that build is Dragoon 2 at rank 8. Very likely he’ll use 2H spear at the end. Doppel is just a filler, so in this case rather have higher crit rate from Hop 3’s Finestra 15 to boost Dragoon damage than Barb 1 to boost slash damage (literally only boosting cyclone damage in his build)

Hop3 gives +50 critrate and slightly more base damage on Hop skills, Barb1 gives +50 critrate cleave buff, +50% slash damage debuff for Cyclone and Dragon Soar (and maybe some other random slash-damage Dragoon skills later), Helm Chopper + Cleave combo for more damage in your rotation as well as a stun. Even as a filler rank, Doppel1 Cyclone does more damage than any Dragoon1 skills do even with spear lunge, and since C2 Dragoon seems to just add utility (melee damage multiplier debuff and the new boss debuff skill), Cyclone will probably continue to contribute a lot of your damage - adding in cleave just makes a lot more sense than a whole class rank just for +50 crit.

Corsair is also a much better filler rank if you plan on PVPing.

I dunno, it probably comes down to preference but if I had that build I’d go Hop 3 instead of Barb 1, more crit rate = less DEX more STR to boost overall damage.

Cyclone’s got a 30+ sec cooldown, this is a PVE build so stuns aren’t that important.
