I think you should take doppel on the last two ranks instead. (seems like a 2H Sword build)
HL3 Skull swing is great, Vertical Slash sucks
Barb3 Pouncing is ok, Giant swing sucks for pve
Other than upgrades, these are what you get. You should probably go HL2>Barb2>Doppel2, if you don’t mind missing skull swing and have a weaker warcry/frenzy
(the most common pure 2H sword build is HL1-Barb3-Doppel2, but HL2-barb2-Doppel2 isn’t bad, it’s more of a skiller since you got access to 3 of the best slash types in highlander)
Everyone keeps saying Vertical Slash sucks… but is it because of the AoE range, the animation delay/recovery time, or damage?
From the description, it seems to add the broken defense damage of Skull Swing to Vertical Slash, so if an enemy has 400 defense wouldn’t that mean Vertical Slash should do (635 + 400) base damage before the multiplers? And what about the debuff multipliers for targets with a lot of debuffs… are they insignificant? ^o.o^
It looks good on paper, but I tried using it with several debuffs on siauliai mission boss, poata. Only did 2k per hit after skull swing. Even with more def it won’t do much. It’s a 1-hit skill.
It sucks because of the damage, It’s only like a glorified auto attack and something you would use when you have nothing left
I feel like either the multipliers are low on purpose, or that’s a bug…
I really hope it’s the latter though. Not sure why the multipliers would be so low on a target with many debuffs when we get such good multipliers at Highlander C2 with Cross-cut + Skyliner combos.
it isnt supposed to be used on xl mobs, the skills does extra damage only to mediun to large not bosses and not xl mobs nor smalls ones.
wasn’t even counting the multiplier there, I’m only counting debuffs and skull swing(defense reduction). and it’s still bad anyway for large monsters, lol
indeed, i’m not saying is good but pointing poata as an example is just awful.
It is awful, because any other examples won’t be good either.
You’d probably kill other monsters better with skull swing+skyliner not even counting cross cut, at least in that situation you’d get the room to actually use it than just being a skill that’s just there…(why would you even stack debuffs on mobs that die fast in the first place, with poata I could at least test it out, not the size multipllier, but the debuff multipllier)
Unless I’m wrong where the debuffs don’t actually work on XL/S monsters either, which makes the skill even more bad
because it only does one hit, long cooldown. it scales with enemies defence so it end up as one point wonder hoping a godlike mob that has 1000+ or 10000+ defence will appear. it suck for now but because it has scaling, it will be better than skyline/crosscut say at lv 500 if enemies defence is ridiculously high. or against a fully enhance plate armor player, i think they could reach 1000 defence.
damage should be better against people using cloth than plate, they have less defense, but you get slash bonus.
Against plate you get slash vs plate penalty
And, plate set physical reduction bonus
it should be great but all these penalties weaken it
I’m doing this build HL3>B3 as my third swordman. 
I really like Doppel and I intend to put its class on the mix when new ranks become available. Either way, I’m having fun leveling this character. I’m almost lv 100 with him.
Actually hl3 is not worth to invest for rank 6,7
I suggest you better go for
Sw1 high2 barb2 dop2
Or
Sw1 high2 barb3 dop1
