Well i would like to c others opinion on the build path im taking b4 going all in with it, i got lvl 26 with it so far and i wanna do things right this time cuz i got a lvl 179 Schwarzer reiter that im not happy about. Well to start with there in the topic title i got the class path im going. Well the main thing i wanted to get people opinion was if, is it worth doing something like Lord Knight on Ragnarok Online, what i mean is a tanker that does damage like was LK in the past of RO, but i fear it might not do either of them.
Cata is prety much a tank class. Generally for PVE tanking hop1 instead of sword2 for stabbing, finestra and synchro thrusting. Adding a lot more dmg to the build than sword 2.
Synchro = 1200dmg skill at lv5 with a 100def shield (easy at 170+) and is amazing value for 5 points when tanking, can cast it 4 times vs once from peirce so is a huge dmg boost to a tank.
The best thing about Cata tanking is with just 74 points placed into CON (reads as 100 on stats without items) you have 25k hp at lvl280, 28k+ with a decently leveled pet and over 34k with taunt attribute up. Meaning it can place a ton more points in STR than other tanks and hit a lot harder for the same levels of health.
Personally for PVE and tanking I think Hop2>Cat2 is better, as you dont need 100% uptime or the 5 extra move speed from trot. Also gives you more crit rate, a 100% bonus to pierce dmg for 6 seconds and higher level hop moves (which are a must for bossing, cata moves suck for single target when solo). and you get 20% block bonus instead of 10%."

I know the main guide on the swordsman section says synchro is bad, That needs to be updated, the animation is instant and has a decent AoE now, It is far superior to pierce if you are going to be tanking or using a Shield.

What do you think on the build the guy posted down there is it good? Take it in note im going for a pve/gvg build since we and my friends are in a guild making process and thats why i decided on cata, cuz of the one spell the pull the guy up, dont actually know the name. haha

With pelt -> hop build path it’ll lack the necessary hard stun that comes with Swordsman C2+, which is godlike in general pvp.
The Pelt -> Hop build path mostly provides sustained dmg as well as PvE utilities which caters to general PvE purposes.
I personally have 3 cataphract characters, 1 tank/GM, 1 PvE dps, and 1 PvP dps. Each and one of them specialize in one general aspect of the game.

It’s hard to say which stats allocation is the best for the PvE cataphract build.
You can do the following stats for dps:
i) 50 dex, 50 con, the rest in str. (I chose this for my dps)
ii) 3:1:1 Str/Con/Dex, though TBH finestra + gem in the future should take care of crit portion of dex
iii) Or just 3:1 Str/Con with 50 Dex.
If you choose to go tank with the build, you can do the following stats:
i) full con, bonus points in str (I chose this for my tank)
ii) 2:1 Con/Spr, bonus points in str
iii) 3:1:1 Con/Spr/Dex, bonus points in str
*bonus points can be from goddess statues, quests, and potions
There really is no general consensus on how stats should be done. All of them can be viable as long as you pick a circle in Peltasta, you’ll be welcome’d to any party without an already present swordsman.
Ic. Why do you say Spr is good for tank? Int it just good to go like for a 3:2:1 Str/Con/Dex for Cata Tank? Maybe stop at 50 dex and go 3:2 Str/Con, maybe go for a max of 150 con.

That’s by far the best build you could go for PVP. Don’t fixate on Dragoon, dragoon is shite. Cataphract 3 has everything you need to be a 1v1 duel king, with restrain you can perma stun most people. High dex build with str, over 850 evasion by level 200 and when they do manage to land a hit it get’s blocked, and if it doesn’t get blocked you can still take a good hit! This build loses out on nothing but addresses all your dueling needs. Magic caster will require a lot more thinking outside the box to defeat them since there is no real counter to magic at this moment. Slither doesn’t count.
Only PVPers will be able to fight you on equal footing with this build. I’ve never lost in 1v1, except to not playing smart enough and getting perma disabled by some stupid gimmick magic skills. Archers with pure dex don’t even hit me.
If you want DPS, then build your guy for PvE and don’t look at this build. This is for people that know how to use their class and have played to 280 before.

but im looking for a build that is good for PvE/GvG since im playing with some friend in a guild we have already a templar and everything. Im looking for something that can be a frontliner if u know what i mean that does dmg and tank. Like LK from RO.
@edit ive only played till lvl 179 like i said there, and only with archer idk really what to do.
