SW3 may be in more demand than Pelt 1 for party grinding after rank 8

Since rank 8 hit, the new areas have magic monsters that hit like a truck regardless of your gear. Unless you are a dedicated high CON tank with high magic defense gear, any STR/DEX build with pelt 1 is going to struggle to tank these new monsters.

With Swordsman 3’s Level 10 Restrain though, combined with Rush you can keep a whole group of enemies stunned. Even without Rush, just gathering a group of mobs tightly and auto attacking them (as long as you can hit all of them) will keep them stunned until other DPS burst them down. The downtime is a pain though but if you’re Cata 3 you are fast enough to run circles around a group to keep them kited without getting hit and go back to hit hem again if you lose aggro.

For those who have been into the new areas, what are your thoughts on this? Do you agree?

Well the Fencer general have already thought of considering SW3>Pelt>Barb/Sair>Fencer as one of our staples in meta(mostly just for more PB uptime).
Also putting into mind that Gung-ho might get the Guardian buff treatment sooner or later.

That might need a lot of AoE ratios. Or you only need to stun 3 Mobs?

There are ways of increasing AOE, even for Fencers, aside from equipments like Roxona, headgears and rings. They could take one circle of highlander or barb, like some already do or change to a Velniup or something alike and leave the Rapier to the boss.

Also, Thauma increase AOE, non?

But of course, Those who play with Spears/2hSwords do a better job.

Actually, for this job, I think that of all classes, a Sw3-Doppel3 is a nice one, because although not all hits are true, they count as restrain hits. But I have yet to see a Doppel that is not a DPSfag.

Cooldown wise and downtime, this is solved with a Chrono or Diev.

You don’t pick classes just for grinding, you look for end game content and synergy.
I’ve solo’ed on Tehvrin cave section 1 with no problem, you can manually dodge their front square skills that hit “hard”. Another choice, which personally i use alot, is “bash”. It’s so useful if your skills are on cooldown, specially against mages.
Once people start getting their 290/315 weapons, 280-330 will be a breeze of a farm/grind.

Pelt staple is lure + manual block. If manual block cant block the new mobs (not magic obv) then that means pelt is trash status and should be fixed.

Have you actually seen the magic defense bonus the 315 equips gives? Pelt will be able to hold it’s ground later on. Rank 8 barely started, people haven’t crafted, refined or gotten most of the best equips out there. Just take it easy for the time being.

True, but we will suffer those 35 levels.

We sure will. Party play will play a big role in this new content as it should’ve been a long time ago. It’s a little frustrating in the beginning, but it’s far from being the end of the world.

You know that Doppel with Pelt 1 are cripple?
Not goodat tanking nearly no damage an well a DD Doppel with Hl 3 is better against magic enemys :stuck_out_tongue:

This is a great info thx!
If swordman 3 is usefull later on i can start a lancer now!

I suggested this long ago and was laughed at. The irony of all this is hilarious.

People still can grind by group up and use Barrier scroll as same as ET. Then Pelt should be the best class for lure Mobs to come to the Barrier.

There also a lot of classes which have CCs and SW is not the best of CC class at all.

Tank and Sage combo with slithering was pretty good. There were kToS vids of them aggressively pulling massive camps of caster/melee mix without breaking much of a sweat. PD regen was enough.

Here you go:

this is obviously misleading, the OP says SW3 compared to pelt1.

but actually, what he meant by SW3 is gotta be paired with a good AoE skill from other circle like Cata3 (rush) or doppel (cyclone).

also, mind that there certain mobs that are immune to specific CC’s like knockback and stuns. so what’l restrain gonna do now? you’d only be called ‘mascot’ by then.

obviously this comparison is not fair. so pelt1 > sw3

I have a sw3 pelt barb dopp3 and I agree with this.

Restrain is needed if you ever want to kill the new r8 mobs without dying

As I know, Restrain only work on press z attack, so you can only kite those Mobs. And what about some Mobs which spawn on your other sides or some range Mobs.

SW3 with 10 Restrain for solo kite on 1 - 3 r8 mobs?

Really do hope IMC can properly reapply this

We are playing an MMOrpg right?

You can use bash to bunch up mobs into a tight enough group to auto attack them all, usually 5-6 mobs at once and possibly more depending on your aoe attack ratio.

So far for the content past 280, haven’t heard any reports of monsters that are immune to stun.

Restrain works with any auto attacks or skills, even if you miss or get blocked the enemy can still get stunned

well when i was going to that ridiculous map inner city wall 8 i restrain+rush the mobs keeping them stunned for a long duration, it was very convenient and that’s how i killed them by myself without dying (there was 5 of them)
im talking about the magic mob that casts pole of agony, this mob is ridiculously strong
