SW3>Barb3>Goon2 or SW3>HL3>Goon2?

With the upcoming major balance patch, I am considering resetting my SW3>Cata3>Goon2 to either Barb3/HL3>Goon2. Thing is I have never played Barb3 or HL3 before so I have no idea if there is synergy between the classes.

As much as I am going to miss Trot15 from Cata3, I won’t miss earthwave, doomspike and rush. Especially rush. Rush turn my character into SP pot addict for lackluster damage it’s just so annoying.

I always liked the concept of a “berserker” type class and Barbarian does seem to fit the bill with skills such as Frenzy, Warcry, etc. Highlander also another 2h specialist so I am considering HL3 and Barb3 instead of Hoplite3 because I do not want to use 1h spear + offhand!

So for Barbarian…

  1. Does Restrain + Pouncing + 2h spear actually work and give you the attack range of 2h spears?
  2. Is Giant Swing working as intended or bugged apparently? I have seem many videos of Giant Swing and it NEVER seem to hit anything while it swings. After the patch Giant swing does seem to have crazy good damage “3096% damage!” So too bad it doesn’t work on bosses?
  3. How well will warcry and frenzy work with a Dragoon2 after the patch? Any synergy at all?

Now for Highlander…

  1. Skyliner 5x overheat and additonal bleed damage seem to have perfect synergy with Serpentine bleed and debuff? Yes? Skyliner just seems like double slash on steroids and I love double slash!
  2. How good is crossguard really? (Especially after the rework? I don’t understand korean but I think it adds 750defense at level15?) I know it apply a pierce debuff to enemy that you block… Does that work on bosses and magic/missile attacks?
  3. What about the other skills? Moulient, crosscut, vertical slash, etc? HL seems to have more attacking skills while the barb have more buff/debuff skills.

I was actually somewhat interested in Barbgoon as well.

Warcry’s c3 attribute can add 10 seconds to any of the debuffs you inflict (which includes Drag2’s Serpentine, Gae Bulg, Dethrone, Embowel, etc) so long as you use it while they’re active on the target.

You can activate Thrust’s bleed fairly easily with Helm Chop./Seism, to combo into Double Slash (Nature Stacks on Helm Chop increase it’s chances to stun). If you somehow fail the stun… Embowel gives a 10 second stun with 5 stacks. Might be nice for those giant monster variants.

Just a few synergies. I think it may be nice for a Dragoon who wants to be more tanky (though objectively, Finestra reducing evasion to 0 doesn’t mean as much… when evasion is more difficult to acquire anyway). I can’t imagine it being meta of any sort, though.

(it looks quite abit more visually imposing on the battlefield too imo)

Quick Edit: Forgot to plug this… keep in mind it’s not the exact same build, and it’s also before the combat revamp was applied to ktos’ main server, so no op gears. They have a few Barbgoon videos.

baba3 frenzy is buff/ warcry was great synergy and skull swing was nerf to 3 sec

with 16s dethrone with 2 OH , that enough for skill loops

Yeah that video looks kinda weak since it’s before the revamp and I’d probably want to go SW3>Barb3>Goon2. I didn’t know about the warcry debuff you mentioned, that definitely has good synergy with Dragoon’s debuffs.

What about Highlander though? Any thoughts on HL3>Goon2 vs Barb3>Goon2?

What exactly is the buff to frenzy and warcry?

I can’t say Highlander has much synergy outside of Crosscut -> Double Slash and Bash -> Cartar Stroke (assuming Cartar still deals double damage to knocked down enemies after patch…) really.

But if we happen to get quite a few days of build changes, you could try both anyway.

frenzy increase your patk 1.5% per stack upto 20 stack and 250 attack speed (so you will got 30% patk and 250 aspd)

warcry decrease enemy defence 10% and rise 40 patk per unit(like before).

in baba3 warcry got something like pardoner that increase all debuff upto 10s so it very useful for dragoon2 serpentine debuff.

so it significantly buff.

Did Frenzy work with Pouncing (actually 100% useless) or Cyclone ?

Tried both, the main problem with barbgoon is that uses WAY TOO MUCH sp. Tons of SP.
Meanwhile HL uses near nothing, only dragoon skills sucks your sp.

every melee will love when team up with barbgoon <3
