[Support Swordsman] Gather, Tank, Buff

So basically I made this build in response to everyone crying about how swordsman is like useless or whatever, here is my take on a supportive build that will be most effective in parties given swordsman’s limited damage. I feel its much better to focus on supporting your party members, do the jobs that are needed, not the one that you want.

So first off, Swordsman.

Pretty straight forward, the attack skills are basically useless so just get all the buffs an move on.

Golden God Peltasta (c2)
This is the most important part, Swash Buckling is an absolute must if you don’t get this you’re useless!!!
Save some points in c1 so you can get high guard maxed and also shield lob for the memes

Cataphract
Think about it, your main job is pulling monsters you’ll do this much easier with more movement speed! you can even get the 2 handed spear to buff Trot to level 6 or 7 (if healer go Cleric c2) which will be almost permanent if you have a laima statue around. Earth Wave is acceptable I guess, just make sure you buy the 70k silver no-knock back attributes
Don’t even get speed charge, impaler is also useless but at least you can use it for the memes
Don’t even think about buying your little buddy early btw, you get a free one once you go this class GG.

Corsair
Oh man this is when you get bloody RIIIICH! max out Jolly Roger as soon as possible and use it to support your team, raise your damage, etc.
The rest of the stuff is whatever, you get lv 5 unlock chest for the mad booty and I guess dust devil + hook to keep enemies from moving.

Doppelsoeldner (oh man I spelled it right)
Time to get EVEN RICHER, FAT STACKS, $$$$$
So Double Pay Earn is like the only thing worth mentioning, other than that, just uh… get deeds of valour for when you want to solo (ay lmao gl) Can’t get the other stuff since it makes your Venheir Dizzy lmao gg.

Dragoon
Ay man you’re finally here, now you got 2 more useless skills and another ability to buff your party with man! Throw your spear down with Gae Bulg and them yummy attributes and you’re golden! If you want you could even go Corsair again to get more FAT STACKS, but I’d wait for c8 to do that unless there is a better buffing class coming out.

Using Shield Lob and Dust Devil will dismount you, that said, you also don’t have 1H-Spear mastery with this class path until you hit Dragoon, that means for 225 levels you’ll be hitting that swap button. Note that the swap gets delayed and freezes the game in graphics heavy fights, speaking from experience.

And while dismounted, the companion AI will most likely run headlessly towards the enemies, and at higher levels they get 1-shot and faint, thus you can’t mount til they come back to consciousness.

But hey, it looks good on paper and it will definitely be the hardest ‘viable’ swordsman build to execute, but it’s possible…

these are the meme skills LOL, you’ll most likely never use them in serious content.

swapping is pretty lame but its not that bad, you only really need spear for earth wave, and you’re better swapping to 2hand spear for that anyway especially because of the Galin Trident.

Additionally you’re not really there to do damage, just rotate the buffs, make sure flag is up, etc.

I suppose you can actually spare the skill points for dust devil, but I’d at least trade 1 point of shield lobbing into umbo blow for that 25% chance stun, twice. Just in case.

Dopple’s double pay will be tricky to execute at later levels, but the addon should help with that and a team of competent DPS should have no trouble in killing the boss in 5 hits if timed right.

Everything else looks okay. Let us know how it goes, ya?

Edit: I’m also looking at that Swordsman C1, I think trading gun ho for Bash lvl3 just for the knockback will help during farm. Knocking them mobs into position will help save a lot of time on the long run.

And on that note, trading another point from Shield Lob into Rim Blow will also allow you to have extra 2 knockbacks

Cataphract c1 is terrible, you can dash faster on foot than mounting + lv 5 trot with Cataphract.
Going Doppel just for Double Pay Earn is pointless too, it has close to a minute cooldown. If this is a tanking build, then your damage is naturally low (due to high CON low STR build) so Deeds of Valor is pointless too. +50% of your low attack isn’t going to do much, while -50% of your high defense will hurt you much more, so you’re paying a lot of defense for a tiny increase in attack.
Dragoon’s Gae Bulg buffs are terrible too, don’t bother.

If you’re making a build, stick with a goal (tanking, DPS, etc.) instead of trying to be jack of all trades and master of none.

Dash is hard-locked at 40 Movement speed, Mounted cata can go way faster than this with stacked buffs, even without trot.; remember in a proper party with Galin and DM you’ll be getting level 7 Trot.

Deeds of Valor is taken because the other two doppel skills don’t work with Mount, you can use it for the ASPD and gather even faster; Defence dosn’t matter too much; you should be Blocking+Evading everything that isn’t magic with high guard+Guardian :^)

I’m not sure about Dragoon Buffs, haven’t reached there yet admittedly, Maybe cors2 would be better then.

I’ve already said what I needed to say about this build.
If you think Cataphract c1 speeds u up to any degree go for it.
If u think Deeds of Valor on this build is gonna work, go for it.
Go waste another 200 hrs on this build and maybe you’ll realise what I’m talking about and maybe understand that my words will save you 200 hours of your time.
