Support For Swordman

I want to encourage you guys a bit, so~

Don’t bother. Most have quit already or will soon.

You will end up with just Archers / Wizards / Clerics and a few Templars in your groups.

Rest will quit. Guaranteed.

IMC has done nothing but cripple the class, especially on iTOS.

the only alpha male class, the only class with honor and they are just needed to receive hits to save pansy long range/sparkles classes?

It’s getting worse each day, shouts from LF Swordsman/Tank turned into LF taunt.

Or LF Peltasta, because none of the other swordman classes matter

The community is to blame tbh… meta is created by us players not the devs. They design so many other classes yet players only pick the best/cookie cutter/meta-ish. We are the ones who make the rest of the classes seems useless.

RIP days when people used to play what they enjoy instead of going with the best.

Sheeit, I might just make a swordie tank just so I can get into dungeons faster. Oooooh but I like my Jump-n-shoot man so mush…

Sword simply needs a big buff / rework. It can’t go on like this for long.

Actually I currently am Pelt C3, wanted to go Templar, with the Squire in between and help my guild, so I chose the tank/support role, glad I did, having so much fun atm, but I don’t care about what the others may think. Played what I wanted building a nice guild leader.

Used to be Chronomancer in both iCBT

i feel bad for swordies, they look underwhelming  , as a cleric i find myself outdpsing a lot of the ones i see, (im a dps cleric) i outdmhg them with heal and cure a lot. but heal and cure do a lot of dmg anyway.

A lot of this issue comes from bad building and a general lack of thought. Spreading circles too thin, taking too many active skills instead of focusing on a few, not keeping up with attribute levels, wearing leather or plate instead of cloth (on mage heavy maps), going full dex/str (which is 100% fine) but not gearing the other stats in properly…

A Swordsman just has to be done right, while the other paths have room for a hiccup or two. Too, it has to be played right… I see so many Swordies wiffing charge skills it ought to be criminal. How about just jump and release charge to cancel the skill when you see the boss move? Saves the CD, SP, and increases DPS.

Could they be more balanced? Yeah, most likely. Are they a useless, unplayable messes? Not even close.

i rerolled from my swordie to a cryo>kino and ill probably main the wiz =/
buuuuut, u can still be good if u choose some FEW builds

I am trying to go rodolero myself. Was thinking should I go peltasta at rank2 or just full dps. But end up giving in for that aoe pull, it’s pretty useful end of the day even if I ignore what other players’ expectation of a swordy.

PS. rodolero isn’t a tank but people will sure expect me to be one :disappointed_relieved:

This, so much this!

Ive spent A LOT of time trying to figure out how to properly build my Swordies.
And iv discovered that most of what people say about Swordie is a myth, in every version I got to play, I’ve played at least one Fencer who is considered the worst Swordie class in terms of raw DPS.
and while I have still taken Pelt c1 to tank for dungeons, I consistently come out about even or out DPS the actual DPS’s in my party.
I mean this in a 1v1 sense (because Im certainly not out DPSing ALL of them together)

The average endgame dmg for a Mage is about 10k-15k. (20k is the max Ive ever seen from a mage class)
with my kTOS Fencer I consistently deal aroung 8k-12k (15k+ with th right party members)

The big thing to keep in mind though, is that EVERY BUILD is viable if your character is build correctly for it and your team is speced properly to support you.

One of the reasons why i can out DPS others with a class considered the worst at DPS in the swordie tree is because I play my character as a skill spammer becuase fencer has two 0 CD skills
So my wife plays a Dievdirbys, to support my mana cost demands.

While Fencer it self is limited by its low STR and lack of ways to increase its STR consistently which is something that Barb c3 does very well without sacrificing c2 Fencer.

(While also keeping in mind that a high DEX build or high crit rate can also fix this issue due to the crit modifier adding +50% of your original dmg + your crit ATK into the equasion)

However Barb as we all know is limited by its HUGE CDs, well Dievdirbys fixes that too.

This game was advertised as a party oriented game and is not all that favorable to soloing with anyone, while your build may be GOOD at soloing, its still going to fall short in other areas.

So unless you have a party that supports your build, and you have affixed your gear to do the same, your build will always fall short.
But once you have done these things you can get as much (if not more) out of your class then other classes with a swordie.

So remember EVERYTHING is viable if put in the time to make it viable.
This is how i get to play the class I love, regardless of weather or not people THINK its viable.

And yes i know this is a standard fencer build, but I hope that you got my point that a build can only do so much on its own, in a game meant for party play and team work.
