[Suggestion] Threat-Meter

Hello everyone,

Adding a threat-meter can be very useful in boss fights, a useful tool in order to react properly, to change a strategy, while fighting.
Do you think that adding an threat-meter could be a good feature in ToS?

Are you asking everyone else to make a list of pros and cons for your suggestion, mate?

Rather than that, I’ll state why I would and wouldn’t like it, not the pros and cons.

  • I don’t like how tacky it could look.
  • I’m all for lazy information. If it’s freely easier to see things, I’ll take it.
  • It makes tanking easier. Not interested. The tank role feels best to me when it’s tough, with few indicators.

This is NOT a trinity game so a threat meter serves little to no purpose.

No, I’m not asking for a list of pros-/cons-. Everyone has its own opinion about the benefits and inconvenients.
It was just a simple question, if you think if this feature has its place or not in ToS, which we all agree is not a real necessary.

I asked because it may help the players, the newbies (to teach them a boss fight can be tricky), as well the veterans MMORPG players (to elaborate many strategies).

But thanks for your concern.

An interesting idea… maybe they could add it as a skill that can read the monsters threat meter, like how Oracles work with the Forecast skill for one of the hidden classes… wasn’t an “Appraiser class” hinted in the blog?

It would take away from the game experience for me personally.
It didn’t take me long to realize I’d pull aggro on most bosses with my multishot! :yum:
I prefer reacting in the moment than knowing what’s going to happen before hand…
Would feel like imc holding my hand. haha.

I can understand it being useful for some or for new players, but tbh… the game is not very hard… –
at least in the beginning, so I think most newbs won’t need it anyway.
Interesting idea though!

imo only oracle should be able to predict boss atks/skills
imc need remove this red circles, makes the fight too easy

we need hard bosses, better IA and faster mov/atk speed
maybe more skills too

That is another good point i didn’t even think of the negative impact this would have on oracles role / skills. Mind you for the most part oracles skill set is rather unimpressive but all the more reason they don’t need this lol.

Making it oracle-only doesn’t sound so bad, but other classes shouldn’t have it. However, threat levels are a very simplistic way to handle aggro and it would be ideal if monsters had enough variety in AI that you can’t boil them all down to a meter.

Tanks have threat, healers heal and dps damage… sounds an aweful lot like a trinity. Be it a more open trinity but still a trinity.
