[Suggestion] New Stats

Others have been saying how we need new stats since the current ones suck and aren’t properly balanced, as well as not being versatile enough for all classes.

New stats:

Str: Melee damage, stun chance, armor penetration.
Will: CC power, CC chance to work, CC resist.
Int: Magic damage, cast speed, crafting speed.
Acc: Ranged damage, crit chance, crit damage.
Wis: Max SP, SP regen, casting interruption resist.
Con: Max HP, HP regen, penetration resist.
Agi: Attack speed, evasion rate, crit resist rate (turns crit to normal).

Spr has been divided into Will and Wis, with Wis being the new cloth armor stat.

Dex has been divided into Acc and Agi, with Agi being the new leather armor stat.

Since Dex has been removed, it’s no longer OP. Since Spr has been removed, it’s no longer OP.

Will fixes the problem with CC classes being useless.

Due to Str, Int, and Acc giving more than just type-specific damage, they’re useful for all class types.

All classes now do an auto-attack based on the weapon, not the class.

All players now get 2 stat points per level instead of one.

While i do agree that the stat system needs to be improved i think it’s extremely hard to just completely change the stat system.
Imagine what consequences this would have:
-all monsters have to be reworked
-leveling up system needs to be reworked
-what about existing characters with the current stat system?
-items and their bonusses need to be reworked
-skills need to be reworked
and then it all needs to be balanced properly.

Some problems:
-coupling magic damage and casting speed to the same stat would be a bit overpowered
-giving Str both increased damage and armor defense sounnds a bit redundant (“with 1 str you do 1 more damage and also another 1 more damage”… why not make it just 2 additional damage in the first place?)
-which of your stats is supposed to counter evasion? My guess is accuracy? If that’s the case:
– accuracy giving both hit rate AND ranged damage (i assume you took Ragnarok Onlines Dex stat as example?) would be overpowered, i really think damage and accuracy should be different stats.

All you have to do is take the stats the mobs have for defense and give them their new version, same with offense.

So if a mob had 20 Dex, you’d replace that with scaled Acc and Agi.

All that would happen to the leveling system is to add one new point per level, and that’s not going to do much compared to enemies of the same level.

Existing characters would gets their stats auto-reset and they’d just put them where they want in the new system.

Most items/bonuses are either purely defense or purely offense, and the transfer to new stats would be direct. Not that hard.

Skills just need stats in the new stat equivalent, and would mostly remain the same except for what the stats are called.

The addition to magic damage would be lower than current Int, and even casting speed increase would be gradual.

Str doesn’t increase defense. It increases armor penetration, making it viable for non-melee classes.

As with Int, Acc would give lower ranged damage, evened out with the other benefits.

The point here is to make all stats viable for all classes.
