Suffering from Crazy Long Map Changes

Its really hurting my gameplay and as much as I’m enjoying the game its making Boss Rushes really hard for me.
For a reference when I’ve been doing the lvl130 dungeon by the time i load-in the rest of my parties pretty much at the mineloader boss.

I’ve tried everything. Here’s my PC specs for starters.
Pentium i5 4670K(unclocked) 3.40ghz
8gb DDR3 Ram
AMD R9-280X GPU
7200rpm HDD

Weird thing is i checked Resource monitor, and non of my cores are reaching 100% when i change zones/channels. My ram sits at around 5/8gb. I have no idea how to check my GPU but come on, this game on minimum settings should hardly use it.

So far I’ve :
Changed settings to low mode, unticked everything except background effects.
Opened up use.xml and adjusted settings
Downloaded Leatrice and WTFast thinking it might be something to do with my ping.

So I’ve run out of ideas here. Nothing so far has made any noticable difference and I cant wrap my head around why its taking so long. I mean my computers not godlike but it can run alot of modern games on high res with little affect on performance. So I’m wondering if anyone has any ideas, i know the game has poor optimization but i still feel like the minority in this respect.

Try SSD!!! Your life will be better. :joy:

Something is wrong or you are clearly lying about your specs.

Thats not it, i play with my brother, his PC is older and worse then mine, he also uses a standard HDD and his load in times are “normal”. I remember one time when we were questing, he went and made a coffee so i went ahead of him a bit. Told him I’m going to head to the next zone and wait for him, he finished up his last quest as I was about to zone. He managed to run 1/4 way across the map and zone in before i did -.-

I see no reason to lie about my specs. I understand the amount of trolls in here that just want to make a scene but honestly I cant figure out whats wrong. Only thing i havent tried yet is a reinstall. Think i might have to do that.

It’s a server issue, map fully loads and I can hear my moves and attacks but the loading screen remains there for like 3 minutes.

I dont think thats the issue. As i said i do dungeon runs with other people or play with my brother. Everythings fine for them. Most of my dungeon runs recently have been playing “catchup” since everyone else is either at the boss or close to the boss before i even zone in.

Thanks for a serious response.
My computer is scheduled to defrag weekly so my disk is oddly at 0% fragmentation. Probably bc I havent uninstalled any games since i set up this pc and i mostly move around big files like videos.

ATM I’m currently reinstalling the game to see if that helps.
If that doesnt work i’ll try your suggestion.
Fingers crossed a simple reinstall works though.
And I’ll def keep this post updated. No point letting a solution for this go to waste :stuck_out_tongue:

So reinstall didnt work. Trying the integrity check now. Had 18 files come up, waiting on them to redownload so I can go online and see if its any better.
I’ll update this once its done.

Yeah it did, it said i had 18 files that failed to validate. I then opened the game, it did something, then told me to relaunch the game which prompted a patcher. Let it patch, ran the game and still got stuck on load screen. I change my game into window mode. Apparently its “not responding” for a bit once the zone/channel change is at around 95%.

Also I just did it again and got 18 files still. Letting it patch now, then going to restart my pc see if that changes anything.

You may want to include what OS you’re using, and perhaps try doing a surface test on your HDD. Defragging is good and all, but if your drive is reaching it’s EOL it’s going to start doing what mine was doing.

Slow to load, clicking, etc.

SSD made a huge difference for me.

Speed wise, gen 1 SSDs are only slightly faster than 7200rpm drives, so a 7200 hdd isn’t what’s the issue here…unless it’s dying.

Define ‘slightly’.

Running Windows 7.
I think it might be an issue with my pc. I just ran GTA V and it was really laggy.
Opened up a CPU Thermometer and apparently all my cores are over 95° when I’m not using any of my CPU(last time i checked they were at 33°ish). I think tomorrow I’ll clean out my PC and see how i go. It might be trying to prevent itself from overheating, could explain the lag.

7200 rpm is fine load times maybe 5 seconds faster on ssd for me.

I switched but it wasn’t even that big of a difference; it could be latency. I have 100mbps and am in the east coast add a beast pc to that and so I am usually first to load in dungeons.

So figured out what the problem was. Had too much dust collected in my case. Gave my PC a good clean out today and the games now running as i’d expect. Also noticed I can run through channel1 in town without my FPS dropping to .2 D:
