Welcome to a beginners guide to the Swordsman Class Tree. So you want to be a swordsman or swordsgirl? Well you’ve come to the right place! As a swordsman main I love going head first into battle, with many weapons to choose from its hard to just pick one! The One Handed Sword for the classic swordsman, Two Handed Sword OG DPS, Rapier for critical masters, One Hand & Two Hand Spear range & pierce, and the Shield or Dagger to defend yourself and your teammates or get and edge on your damage; they are all great and fun choices! The swordsman lack of AOE is made up with their mobility, crowd control, and defense which makes for great bossing, farming and a mean PVP character.

The Base of your Tree where all stories begin. Here you can pick up a simple knockdown with Bash and your basic buffs to improve damage or defense. Pain Barrier is a must for all those that enjoy bossing and PVP. Only 15 points are given towards skills for your base class so choose wisely!
Nak Muay 0.6 : 1 : 0.4
Nak Muay is a Muay Thai fighter specializing in slash and crowd control. The Nak Muai has amazing costumes, and fun stance and between cooldowns an awesome and quick auto attack. The Nak Muay is a hidden class which means it is available after 2nd rank and will have to go through fun quests to unlock this bad boy. With high strength and dex the Nak Muay can be a real crowd killer, literally!
Good Synergy - Peltasta, Hoplite, Barbarian
Doppelsoeldner 0.9 : 0.7 : 0.4
Doppel, a two handed swordsmans best friend. It does not stop there for these mercenaries willing to risk it all for reward, these guys have 2 buffs yous definitely need to know about; Deeds of Valor, a buff that increases your damage by decreasing your defense and Double Pay Earn which increases your Looting chance by decreasing defense. Be careful using these two along with Gung Ho or just up your defenses with high con classes with other ranks. Great dps, farming and bossing. Don’t forgot that Cyclone and Punish works with all weapons!
Good Synergy - Highlander, Barbarian, Peltasta
Dragoon 1 : 0.4 : 0.6
Dragoon, your beloved Spear wielder, able to utilize one or two handed spears. Dragoons have a helmet that changes appearance depending on which helmet you chose best suits your class. Their helmet provides a 50% raise in dragoon skill damage with a penalty of 5 movement speed and constant sp consumption, the lightweight attribute provides a 25% increase with not movement speed penalty. Increase close range physical damage with Gae Bulg and AOE Ratio with the Dragon Fear buff.
Good Synergy - Hoplite, Lancer, Barbarian
Lancer 1 : 0.45 : 0.55
An artist with two hand spear and mobility. The lancer makes for a great all around character with its mobility and dishing out some serious damage with crush > quintain and amazing AOE skill Gigante Marcha. Knock someone off their mount with Unhorsing or pop their shield off with Rhongomiant. These noblemen can destroy magic circles and enemy structures with Joust.
Good Synergy - Hoplite, Cataphract, Dragoon
Retiarius : 0.9 : 0.6 : 0.5
Gladiators that utilize nets and daggers, the Retari are control freaks. Pull Rete will bring any enemy within range & AOE ratio right in front of your or stop a fleeing enemy with Throw Rete, which also grounds those pesky flying mobs and Featherfoots. Disarm will whip a net out to disarm an opponents shield while the Blandir Cadena provides a bounce for all you PVP lovers out there.

Rodelero 0.7 : 0.4 : 0.9
A fierce shield user that can protect a team with their ridiculous crowd control or increase strike damage with Shield Shoving. These royal militants can utilize Slithering and Shield Charge to protect themselves as they approach the objective or enemy can increase the speed by using Murmillos Sprint Buff beforehand.
Good Synergy - Peltasta, Murmillo, Nak Muay
Matador 0.9 : 0.5 : 0.6
These enterrtainers enjoy using taunts and the hit-and-run tactic to take down their enemies. They have a few crowd control. Matadors main the rapier and use their cape in battle to counter enemies with Muleta or deal high damage with Corrida Finale. They make for a real intimidating enemy with their crowd control and counters.
Good Synergy - Fencer, Retiarius, Hoplite
Murmillo 0.8 : 0.4 : 0.8
An Intense gladiator with range, crowd control, and a helmet that increases attack skills and decreases physical damage both by 50%. Shield Train can group large crowds together making mobbing a ton easier. Whether your’e traveling distances, chasing down an enemey, escaping or getting ahead Sprint is a great all around tool. The Murmillo is equipped with many stuns so be careful when approaching one of these Gladiators!
Good Synergy - Rodelero, Hoplite, Matador
Barbarian 0.8 : 0.8 : 0.4
Warriors who use the two handed sword and Warcry to reduce enemy defense and increase damage as well as Frenzy to increase basic attack speed and increase +2% damage per stack with a max of 8 stacks that drop by 1 every 3 seconds. They work well with many classes providing skills that can use all weapons or be mounted. These aggressive guys will do anything for victory
Good Synergy - Nak Muay, Fencer, Highlander
Cataphract 1.1 : 0.4 : 0.5
Mounted Troops that tear through the enemy with high strength and one hand or two handed spears. Usually nobles and aristocrats they can increase mounted skills damage with Acrobated Mount or increase their speed with Trot making them deadly in the arena and a fast quest-er or farmer. Watch out for their Impaler, they’ll be carrying you around like a piece of meat on the end of their spear.
Good Synergy - Hoplite, Dragoon, Lancer
Templar 0.65 : 0.7 : 0.65
Clergymen that specialize in GVG content plus a class specific summonable mount, Horse Riding! High con makes them hard to take out on top of their installations and buffs they can provide for the whole team. Their attack skill however works with two handed sword, one handed sword or rapier.
Fencer 0.6 : 1.1 : 0.3
The true rapierist, they rip apart their opponent with quick successive strikes specializing in pierce and critical damage. Perparation is a deadly skill when used properly, parry an enemy attack then for 3 seconds your block is increase by 100% then giving your next pierce type attack twice as much damage! These nobility have a buff called Epee Garde which increases your critical damage with pierce type attacks but nullifies the physical defense of your shield, but the nullification is nulled if you are also a Rodelero.
Good Synergy - Matador, Rodelero, Murmillo
Peltasta 0.3 : 0.2 : 1.5
Your top taking class utilizing one hand and shield. These defensive warriors are the kings personal soldiers and provide a great class if you need more CON or enjoy the tanking role. They synergize well with just about any build, utilize Swash Buckling to provoke, and High Guard, Hard Shield and Guardian to protect your allies. Also they can throw their shield at an opponent, but you have to retrieve it, maybe if it worked more where it bounces back or goes in a loop would be cool, IMC? @Staff 
Highlander 0.95 : 0.8 : 0.25
Royal guards that show their true colors with plaid & kilts! These two handed swordsmen can shock you, or deal a great amount of damage just from bleeding, they have a pierce damage increase that doesn’t really work well with its own skills but they do combo well with slash type classes. With a few knockbacks and high damage the Highlander is a true contender.

Hackapell 0.75 : 0.8 : 0.45
Fresh on the swordsman scene with seemingly no place to go, I assure you the Hackapell is a great addition and a fun class that you’ll learn to love. Who wouldnt love a mounted mercenary, they specalize in mobility and chained attacks. With attacks that are pierce, slash and strike these cavalry units can find its way in many different trees, even yours!
Good Synergy - Barbarian, Rodelero, Peltasta
Hoplite 0.8 : 0.5 : 0.7
Your Spear champion. A swordsman well versed in range and going after larger enemies. Spear Lunge is a powerful tool for all pierce type classes, increasing pierce damage. Hoplite have a powerful stance called Finestra that increases your crit rate but also lowering your evasion. Along with Finestra we have Sharp Spear that increases critical damage but limited to spear attacks.
