why you do not leave the storage to be shared between characters on the account?
Because character specific items like Costumes and Books are not meant to be exchanged with other characters. They dont want to hinder you by deciding if you should keep your extra costumes in the inventory or destroy them (if made unwarehousable)
ALSO, its to prevent people from completely giving all items from one character to another. Currently if you trade consumables/recipes/materials, the person who receives them are then bound to that person. A warehouse would create issues where you could trade items from your main character to a new character without any limits.
Cant they make costumes have a requirement that you need the class? I don’t see a problem with giving items to an alt either. What if i got some nice equipment that i can use on my alt?
I cant answer every question, because I don’t speak for the company.
Costumes do have a class requirement, but if warehouses were linked, you could wear a Cryomancer costume on a Pyro and probably confuse alot of people. It might be a quality assurance decision rather than a selfish one.
Also, many people have no issue with giving items to alternate characters, but some companies don’t favor that kind of gameplay. In many MMORPGs, companies would rather you grow with your character rather than rush level it to level 40 and give your alt the best level 40 weapon to faceroll everything.
I currently like warehouse linking, but I understand why they dont do it.
The fact that the stash isnt shared is only a nuisance. People can still “transfer” items via friends and market place. This just loses potential on the item.
Why not just make the stashes simultaniously personal per char and shared? So that if you move an item from stash A to stash B, the item loses potential… Simple as that, in terms of other items that are still tradable in game, just let people transfer them freely.
It basicly makes no sense that you have to ask a friend to transfer items for you. This isn’t the 90s anymore.
It is absolutely basic to not only have character bound items that you can’t trade or move into storage; but also to have a shared storage.
With that said, I think the reason is they don’t want your new character to be given 100k worth or money or items and then totally blow out leveling up an ability. You would have level 10 archers with 100k worth of Oblique shot upgrades running around destroying all your mobs.
@Nervontuxis Actually, Only equipment can be traded with lost potential. Recipe/Materials/Consumables and whatnot are all bound upon trading.
That’s true that you don’t necessarily want to disturb a friend in order to transfert a weapon/recipe/other you just loot to one of your others characters… Not even mentionning the potential problem for equipment (you > friend > you, -2 is huge)…
A small storage in the lodge can be a good option. Very restricted, to a dozen slots (more with iCoins).
Or a bin/trash system, where every deposed item is deleted after 30 days for exemple…
Speaking about costumes, it’s almost 100% sure that we’ll have costumes with no requierements. Cat/dog/rabbit/pumpkin/popolion/beach suit/whatever… costumes will invade the iCoins market when the game will be out. So, to be able to put these in a shared storage would be great.
The storage could have 2 tabs: One personal and one shared. Bound items couldn’t be put on the shared tab. Very simple.
@technic_bot it’s not like you couldn’t simply put bad items on the market for HUGE prices and buy with another character and then you have a new character with a lot of money.
So far ToS doesn’t replace RO for me, although the “potential” was there… !
Negative points like the limited tradability of items, no shared storage, (and mainly the linear questing)
are what makes me think “I will probably not be playing that for more than 3 months…” tbh. :\
You don’t get the point of this CBT.
Quest give a very huge amount of XP, in purpose, for us to check the problems/bugs/$NODATA/… so far (up to lvl 200, it’s just the “beginning” of the adventure).
The game won’t be so “generous” when it’ll be released. The “linear questing” so many players complain about, isn’t linear at all, or at least not so much different than other mmo’s quest systems.
You’re gonna bash, bash, bash, and bash again, so much more. A hardcore grinding MMO, like RO was.
But you’re right about the shared storage… still waiting for it
Seems pretty linear to me. Every character you make will follow pretty much the same path. I dont want it to be the same as other mmo quest systems. The reason i dont play those games is mainly the the themepark progression system.
I’ll still play this game when its released. Hopefully it’l be less linear then with some options. Keep in mind though i only made it to lvl 85 and just started a new character so maybe it really is better later.
All we need is a Kafra.
It’s “linear” only if you follow the main quest, for the background story of the game.
But you’re not forced to do all of them. A few are requested to gain access to some dungeons, but If you don’t want to quest, you can.
Sure, if you don’t mind the fact that quests can give up to hours worth of grinding time in experience!
Exactly. And like I said, the game will be less generous with XP gained with XP Cards.
You’ll still make your progression the way you want.
well, thats the thing! it’s excting to blow through the early content like nothing and feel like a god.
that’s why i absolutely LOVE twinking in wow, for example. I like my alt’s to be strong and roflstomp early content, because i EARNED it.
if they lower more the exp from cards, the grind will be worst and ppl will get bored
Yes, this is what made Ragnarok so great. You could trade out your lower gear to your alts to make leveling a lot easier. Now without it leveling alts kind of sucks. They took out something that was good and replaced with it with shyte. This is the core issue although for some reason you seem to think it is a detriment.
uhm, you can trade gear between chars without losing potential
