Steam VAC and mods

Hello,

Today, many people noticed Steam VAC will be used in TOS. I think it will be good to counter bots and cheats in the game, however, since mods also modify some parts of the game. Does it mean we risk getting VAC banned by installing mods?

I’m curious as well and will Steam VAC ban players that are using VPN software running in the background such as WTFAST?

I think that mods shouldn’t have problems as long as they are officially entered as part of the steam workshop for ToS.

I do hope VAC won’t discriminate on that as I am doing the same to improve my ping D:

I would assume not, because WTFAST is commonly used with Dota 2, even sponsored by big streaming companies, not to mention WTFAST sponsors alot of Dota YouTubers.

I don’t think so, afaik VAC detect hacks comparing your memory with a cheat library to check if there is one active in your computer, so… lua and ipf mods should not trigger it

Would like to know this as well.

Would like to know as well, whats the current stand for using addons/mods now that VAC is implemented. An official PSA would be nice.

Also interested (use them myself), would like to get a response from the staff.

someone just got first blood by just using mods. Got this from ToS group of mine.

any info on what mod?

Which mod were they using? This is a super important piece of information!

I don’t think that image is enough proof.

Yes, it is most likely untrue, but it has me paranoid.

he said that probably the SumAni.ipf in the data folder which is the map viewer probably

yup, just to be safe i removed mine and wait for the answer of imc

Thanks for the update. I hope they change this. That mapviewer was a godsend. It was basically just a fix for a poorly done UI too. It wasn’t intrusive in any way.

Couldn’t of been that, because many people are using the EXP/Map/Monster add-ons at this moment (Including me) and would’ve gotten banned shortly also.

Shouldn’t be any of the current lua add-ons, if any lua add-ons at all, that would cause a VAC ban.

As I said, it’s most likely untrue, but I’m removing them for now and going to try to speak to the staff directly.

yup as @Vanic said i don’t know if 100% true or not but I’m removing of it for safety precautions.
