Stat Bonus Per Rank, Adding Stat Points Before vs After

I looked up the stat bonus guide but didn’t quite find the answer to my question.
I haven’t been doing all of the quests so I think I might have some quests undone that give stat points.
I am rank 5 now. If I decide to get to rank 6 first, then finish the quests and get the stat points, will I get fewer bonus points than if get them before ranking up?

It’s retroactive, you get the bonus points regardless of when or how you put them in.
