Squire/Doppel Hybrid Build

Hi guys! So, here’s a build I put together after doing a bit of research and browsing various topics on this board. I really love 2-handed warriors, but I also wanted a build that could provide some party utility as well as the ability to tank with sword+shield if I want to. Note that I’m strictly interested in PVE.

Here’s my build:

I realize that Weapon Maintenance will be completely useless once there are c3 Squires everywhere, but I figure it could make me some decent money early on (and I’d have the option to go Squire c3 down the road, if I felt like it). Also I maxed out Arrest because it seems like a handy “Oh sh*t” kind of skill that would let me hold a boss or a group of mobs in place if things get too crazy. Overall I mostly just wanted Squire c2 because I love the idea of building a base and cooking food for my party while we grind. Repair seems really handy too.

Anyway, my question is, am I making a horrible mistake by splitting up my build like this? Am I just going to end up as both a low DPS build and a subpar tank? I’m not interested in having a perfectly min-maxed build, but at the same time, I don’t want to have such bad DPS that I’ll be pulling my hair out in frustration.

Also, what would be a good stat build? Is DEX still ridiculously good like it was in iCBT2? I was thinking of focusing mostly on STR with some DEX, and maybe a bit of CON for surviving against bosses.

Personally, I think Squire is that kind of class that is best to take at either c1 (for utility) or c3 (for actual money making with maximum potential from Base Camp+Refreshment Table).

But I guess you can go c2 if you really want to support your party in late game grinding with Base Camp-Refreshment Table. But I don’t really recommend it. Squire c1 alone is enough to help your party in grinding because of Repair level 5. Based on my personal experience playing Squire, Base Camp-Refreshment Table are those kind of skills that don’t really make much impact in PvE.

The rest of the skill distribution is fine, except for Punish.

I recommend you to take Fencer for rank 7 to complement your build. Fencer works really great with Highlander and it will keep your DPS output pretty high.

Bonus slash damage from Lunge means :
-More damage from Skyliner
-More damage from Cyclone

Decent money early on if you take Squire c2 at rank 6, and if you can reach Squire pretty quickly, so there won’t be much competitors.

Thanks very much for the reply!

Hm, that’s disappointing to hear. Being able to set up a base for your grind party sounded like such a cool idea to me. Maybe I’ll reconsider getting Squire, then. Repair does seem handy but I don’t think I would pick Squire just for that.

Also I heard Punish was kinda bad but I just put a point in it anyway because it looks amazing, haha.

Interesting… I hadn’t really considered Fencer. Are fencer skills usable with a 2-handed sword? Kind of a deal breaker for me 'cause I’m a sucker for big heavy weapons.

Would Doppel c2 be a good alternative? If I dropped Squire entirely and went for that, what would be a good last rank to add - Highlander c3 or Barbarian c1 maybe?

My parties hardly cared to enter the field maps to grab food buffs as a C2 squire. Meanwhile I’m like guys I made this just for you. :frowning:

Hopefully Penalty Reduction will be tweaked in the future to better justify taking C3.

Aww, that makes me really sad! I was really stoked when I first found out about Squire. I just wanted to make delicious sandwiches for my friends… maybe IMC will consider improving the food buffs in the near future. I really dig unique support type classes like that. And yeah, that c3 skill looks pretty dang unimpressive…

Alright I gave it some thought and came up with a build I feel pretty happy with:

I really just want a 2-hander build with some added utility so I can be useful in a party. For Swashbuckling I guess I’ll have to swap to sword and shield anytime I want to use it, hopefully that won’t be too annoying.

For rank 5 I was torn between Squire c1 or Highlander c3. I’m not sure how beneficial the extra damage for Highlander would be. Repair and Arrest would definitely be nice for added utility, though.

Looking at Doppel c2, Redel seems great, and Zucken has a weird SP cost and only seems decent at level 1. Not sure about Zornhau.

Ah, Fencer’s skills requires Rapier to use. But you can use all Highlander’s offensive skills with Rapier too.

If you are going Fencer, you will either use Rapier-Shield (to tank and block) or Rapier-Dagger (for more damage).

Doppel c2 is good, but pretty much a waste if you are not a 2h weapon user. If you are going to use 2h weapon, you can’t use any of Peltasta’s c1 skills except Guardian unless you don’t mind swapping weapons a lot.

The videos for these skills should now be available to see on the tosbase site

I like the build a lot. There is a feature in the game where if you use a skill but you aren’t using the right weapon for it, you swap to it and use it (as long as it is your other option in the weapon swap slot). So you can be wearing a 2H sword and use swashbuckling and it will swap and cast for you. Just need to swap back if you want to use your 2H sword again!
