Spear Murmillo Build for PvE

Hello everyone, today i wanted to ask you what’s the consensus for a Spear Hoplite build?

Sw > Pel > Hop > Rode 3 > Shin > Murmillo

Sw > Pelt > Hop 2 > Rode3 > Murmillo

Is a one rank from Hop enough to deal damage with murmillo Cassis attris + Shin clones? Murmillos really should have a one-handed spear use attribute lol. Please, share your thoughts, wanted to make one to take the best out of the Halloween event.

don’t ditch on shinobi, 500% damage is much better than spear lunge and additional finestra points.

Personally, I’ll take SW>pelt>hop3>rod2>murm instead.

Hop3 has an attribute +20% dmg to medium size monsters when using 1h spear, rod2 for the almighty slithering. Most of the time will be spamming 0cd spearthrow as most monsters are leather armor and strike skills from pelt1/rod2 are enough to cover the rest.

depends on your build honestly, rode 3 shinobi is a stronger burst damage
hoplite 3 is a stronger aoe

Yeah, i don’t like the idea of taking hop3 into murmillo, even though it’s a viable option. I don’t think the 20% damage passive weights more than the bonuses for Rodelero skills, over all, speacilly since Rode+Murm is a HEAVY strike debuffer. My hop 3 is going for dragoon, just like my hop2 > corsair2.

My only doubt it is that i really think that Spear>Sword overall. Which is why i wanted the rank in Hoplite for spear usage + Synchro Thrust bonus from Murm passive. I don’t seem to find any hop/murm in KToS whatsoever to see real footage and see how the overall gameplay is. Choices…choices…

In that case, it would be better to take pelt2 instead of hop1 since high guard will boost the 2 pelt1 skills greatly. Taking hop1 just for the sake to equip “spear” doesn’t outweigh the pros of going pelt2, because higher lvl is all about using skills and atk types are based on that. So it doesn’t matter whether u are using spear or sword. Also to note that synchro thrust has a very bad hitbox and half of its dmg is pierce type.

Just my 2 cents and hope no one gets offended by it

Well, it actually does because, like you said, it’s all about skills, and since they have pre-determined damage type, it all boils down to equips. Spear heavily leans towards Medium/large type, specially the latter, where we’re getting 300~400 bonus damage ( This is huge). Even though pelt 2 brings high guard, and some other stuffs, i barely found enough people so i can see the passive bonuses applied to skills, since pelt skills scale rather poorly, where on the the other hand, Synchro somewhats scales with time, since it uses a 5xShield Def formula, which scales heavily with transcend + equips and stuff.

Still very undecided hahahaha lots of research to work on.

The only hop murmillo i know is lolipantsu, he has a youtube channel and uploads his pvp fights. If i remeber his build is: sw, pel, hop, rod3, corsair, murm.

yea and his build is honestly sick. It was awesome before murmillo. never fought with him since R8 came up but man was he hard to kill.

Pelt, Hop, Rode3, Shinobi, Murmillo is the optimal Shinobi build, Pelt3, Rode3 Murmillo for non-Shinobi build IMO.

I’m going Pel2->Hop3->Shin->Murm to rely on Synchro Thrust

I don’t have rod myself so I can’t really say much for how good rod3 skills are since the core skills are from rod1/2 and taking extra levels in them doesn’t give that much of big boost. Also I’m not really a big fan of Shinobi and won’t include it in most of my builds too, Mainly because I don’t like the idea of taking extra dmg when clones are out.

Based on my own experience of having 3x rank8 and 4x rank7 characters, having too many different class in the mix isn’t a good idea. We only have a total of 40 hotkeys. I’m already having trouble fitting all the useful skills into the limited hotkeys, not forgetting future ranks coming out. Eventually some of the less useful skills will be obsolete and removed when more ranks are released.

Reason why I suggest hop3 is because around 60-70% of the monsters are leather, spearthrow is gonna be one of your most used skill. Strike type atks are going to deal only half of pierce types (75% vs 150%). So even with debuff improving strike attacks, it will most likely be on par. Not forgetting its huge hitbox… heck I can even hit monsters behind me while throwing the spear in front.

Lastly, that 20% 1h spear passive is a big deal as 70% of monsters are medium size. It even applies to ur murm/pelt/rod strike type skills, making them even more deadly. Like mentioned above, hotkey slots are limited, after using some for buffs and potions, the best things to get are passive attributes that doesn’t take up any slot
