I don’t have rod myself so I can’t really say much for how good rod3 skills are since the core skills are from rod1/2 and taking extra levels in them doesn’t give that much of big boost. Also I’m not really a big fan of Shinobi and won’t include it in most of my builds too, Mainly because I don’t like the idea of taking extra dmg when clones are out.
Based on my own experience of having 3x rank8 and 4x rank7 characters, having too many different class in the mix isn’t a good idea. We only have a total of 40 hotkeys. I’m already having trouble fitting all the useful skills into the limited hotkeys, not forgetting future ranks coming out. Eventually some of the less useful skills will be obsolete and removed when more ranks are released.
Reason why I suggest hop3 is because around 60-70% of the monsters are leather, spearthrow is gonna be one of your most used skill. Strike type atks are going to deal only half of pierce types (75% vs 150%). So even with debuff improving strike attacks, it will most likely be on par. Not forgetting its huge hitbox… heck I can even hit monsters behind me while throwing the spear in front.
Lastly, that 20% 1h spear passive is a big deal as 70% of monsters are medium size. It even applies to ur murm/pelt/rod strike type skills, making them even more deadly. Like mentioned above, hotkey slots are limited, after using some for buffs and potions, the best things to get are passive attributes that doesn’t take up any slot
