Something Wrong with the Queue and performance

HeyGuys, today was my first day in queue to enter the game, and to my surprise my notebook started crashing in the middle of the queue because it was overheating, so I did some heating test with no game at all vs queue on Silute server (stopped because it was going to crash) vs 20 min of gameplay on the Klaipeda server, and as you can see in the image below there is something wrong with the client when is in queue mode, it shouldn’t be performing this way, so I was wondering if anybody have the same problem or if is there a solution to this, thanks.

Yeah… is a five year old notebook and the hard drive and battery are ded, I’m buying a tower in June but anyway, I think something is fishy with the queue regardless.

Based on those temps, your laptop is running hot in general… and should be looked at… like seriously… probably finding out it limiting itself due to thermal throttling at times…

You could try joining another server, turning all options down and then join the queue to see if the problem exists… other than that not much you can do but endure it.

EDITl: i just now read that its 5yrs old? why not open it up and clean it out? if your not sure take it to a tech friend or local shop, i did this to my 5-6yr old laptop and reduced temps by 15-20c , but i also use a cooling pad, because i don’t like hot tops…

If you are are using notebook at your bed or another dusty place for about 2 years, check air flows(even hot) from heatsink out.
If it can’t even blow small piece of paper napkin for about 15 cm, so you need to clean it.
Detach notebook.(youtube)
Remove all dust clog from heatsink.(easy)
Change thermal paste.(optional)
Assemble notebook.

or use service

  1. In-game temperature is higher than in queue - This is because the game optimization is not good, either some coding part having recursive or memory leaks happens everywhere. While in queue lobby, nothing much to do so less faulty coding, so your processors are able to run in good condition, giving good results, hence get hot.

  2. For a laptop, <80’C is fine, and a borderline of 80~83 is quite the maximum. For my case, which is also a Dell laptop,

Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
System Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
System Model: Inspiron 14 3443
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz (2 Core 4 Threads), ~3.0GHz
Memory: 8192MB RAM DDR3L
DirectX Version: DirectX 12
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce 840M @ 1259/1040 OC

My temps on cpu never go after 80’c and my gpu stays at 70’c.

P/S : Ah, did i mention that my ambient temperature is almost 30’c?

I think people here are missing the essential point of OP. What he’s emphasizing is that the game abnormally uses up system resources with just being in char select queue in comparison to being in-game.

While this matter is quite serious at hand, it doesn’t look like IMC will be focusing on client optimizations anytime soon .__.

Thanks for the advice, it definitely sound better now, maybe now I can survive the heat spike during queue, no thermal paste though.

Thanks for understanding my point, is really weird I can watch twitch and play the game in low settings, but I get over heated on queue.

GJ bro
and 20 chars

OP prolly turned of VSYNC. without it the main menu will have 500+ fps. a common problem with games if you turn of vsync. thats why he is getting more heat in the menu then in the actual game.
A solution would be to cap the fps in your video card settings(if you dont want vsync on).

Hmmm good point
that’s actually a possibility :open_mouth:

as i said. happens in many games. Starcraft 2 's main menu could melt your GPU if you left the main menu on for too long.
The problem here is that you are stuck in the main menu because of the queue time, so again: i strongly advise op to put vsync back on or limit the framerate to 60 or 120 in his graphic card settings. If you don’t know how, tell me your gfx card brand and i can point you in the right direction.

I think this might be the answer I have vsync off on nvidia settings and in the game, I don’t know how to set a cap but I will look in to it.

Well since your system is a laptop, the options for control over game behavior and everything GPU processing related is quite limited in comparison to those on desktops with dedicated GPUs

Best bet right now might be Vsync but who knows, maybe there is another way xD
