Some question about Swordsman (and other rank)

Hi ! It s my first post, i have a LOT of question about the game and more particularly about the classes i want to do

So 1st of all, i m actually a lvl 45 Barbarian and i m REALLY curious about everything when i start to play a game for real

so here is my questions:

  • What should i really do about stats? I want to be a dps swordsman, i heard about 100 Dex 50 Str 25 Spr, but to me it seems weird, Dex does not DIRECTLY up damage so it seems weird to me (at the moment i build more Str than everything else and have just up Str and Dex)

  • What about skills? My plan was to go like that http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/s3ysruogg0/ but when i check other guide, i just see Thrust getting banished all other the place, this skill seemed good to me cause he give a Pierce Attack but again im maybe wrong, i just want to understand why it is not good

  • What about classes ? So… yeah like everybody i think, i m hesitating… but only about 2 classes Corsair & Fencer, i ll be really happy if you could explain to me what are the good and bad point of this 2 classes, i already check all the skills of this 2 classes but that dont really help me to chose, i really like the 2 of them so i need some advice…

  • What about stuff ? At this point my stuff is just all messy (i m pretty sure it s normal… dont tell me it s not :’( ) but i already did some research and i m able to craft a Silver Falchion (need recipe but… yeah i can w/e), i found some other interesting weapong: the “Thresh Sword” and the “Panto Sword” but they seemed really hard to drop and i dont even know if they are that good

  • And last of all, i kept ALL my gems seems the beggining for enchanting stuff but i dont really know when i should use them and what gem i need to use on what equipment

…Finally the end of my questions, i m pretty sure they will cross with some other subject but i cant find a real tuto about all of this…

PS: If there is someone who can explain to me how i can send pm on the website, it will be apreciated, i search for 2 long hours to pm someone about all of this question (i m always afraid to post subject on forum, afraid to break some rules etc…) but cant find the way to do it

  • stats : it depends of what you prefere, DEX can give you cratical chance,evasion and block penetration that’s why a lot of people use it as main stat. But you can main Str build, it will give you a nice damage output too.

  • thrust? why not, if your are using something else than a spear, pierce is good but spend lot of mana.( remember that a lot of fencer skill have pierce effect)

  • corsair or fencer ? => i just can say you something : if you chose corsair , be sure to get it rank 5 and 6, cause double weapon assault abitlity will give you the possibility to attack with both main weapon and sub weapon dagger.

  • about gear ? save your money, and your gems, be efficient, you will chose wisely when time come. you need experience. you dont really need good gear for the moment wait 75 or 120 cap.For now try to get blue weapon 40 + and refine them +5 go marketplace man

Well, let me share with you (and everyone else reading this) what I think about Corsair and Fencer.
Fencer is a rank 6 class, meaning you will not have a Fencer Circle 2 (not now, at least) and I do not think a rank 6 C1 is better than a rank 5 C2 - not in this case - because you will not be able to advance further and access a new skill or attribute (which is HUGE at this point). On the other side, we have the Corsair - a rank 5 class, meaning you can go for another circle, which is pretty damn huge too. Also, Double Weapon Assault is marvelous.

So basically I am trying to make you give up on Fencer and go for Corsair. If you do, you can do the following:

  1. Swordsman > Highlander > Highlander > Highlander > Corsair > Consair
    My build. It is pretty good if you want to rush and level up fast, and also you will not rely on any buff (mostly because you do not have, at least not an useful later in the game). I love spamming in this game, and I do not enjoy the power spike a buff is capable of providing because it is temporary. Anyway, it is up to you.

  2. Swordsman > Highlander > Hoplite > Hoplite > Corsair > Corsair
    More tanky because you will not have worry about critical on your build, meaning you can have more STR and CON instead of DEX. Finestra, from Hoplite, you will increase your critical strike chance, and… Well, it can only be used if you are equipped with a spear. So yes, this is a Spear and Dagger Corsair. Also, Highlander is here because Peltasta is terrible when dealing damage, and with Highlander you can just rush the early content until you manage to get your third rank/Hoplite.

  3. Swordsman > Peltasta > Hoplite > Hoplite > Corsair > Corsair
    Even tankier than the previous build, and more useful later in the game because of your skill set (great when playing with a party).

  4. Swordsman > Swordsman > Barbarian > Barbarian > Corsair > Corsair
    The reason why you get a Swordsman C2 is because of Restrain (a skill focused on PvP). Gung Ho and maybe Concentrate at lvl. 10 is nice early.

  5. Swordsman > Highlander > Barbarian > Barbarian > Corsair > Corsair
    Again, Highlander if you want to rush content and go beast due to the Barbarian.
    To be honest, Barbarian and Corsair are great when put together - but I do not like the Barbarian class, that is why I am avoiding it and picking Highlander again on my build.

  6. Swordsman > Peltasta > Barbarian > Barbarian > Corsair > Corsair
    Peltasta is here for the utility.

DEX is for critical and dodge, and goes well with Leather type armor.
STR is… Well, for your basic attack. It is hard to see a skill scaling well with status - if scaling at all. That is why most people go for DEX all the way.

Thrust is… trash. Gung Ho is enough. Pain Barrier is nice.

For Highlander, until lvl. 40, use a Temsus Flamberge. Then buy a Colossus and use it until lvl. 75. Save your money, do not waste with your master.

And you should know that Peltasta is hardcore.

About gear, save your money, but keep an eye on the market all the time looking for better stuff. Also, refinement is pretty expensive, so avoid it.

Well, that is it. If you choose Hoplite, go for 2 STR: 1 CON. Anything else if full DEX or 2 DEX : 1 STR - you decide.

So… ok i wont worry anymore about stuff and i think about stats ill try Dex 2 Str 1, will keep my gem safe for later :slight_smile:

Why it s trash? It dont seems too bad to me :confused: not any damage in the spell?

I can understand fencer is only a c1 while corsair can be a c2 class but damage of the spell dont seem too bad even tough it s a c1 (but it seems to have a lack of rapier, that could be a pain)

I dont really like Highlander even if i know it s one of the fastest way to up, i just dont like it like you dont like barbarian x)

I think i ll try this one if i make a corsair

cause it s the same thing i have for the moment (Swordsman 2 and Barbarian) but in swordsman c2, restrain dont feel that good, i mean you lost a LOT of HP for not being really sure to stun :confused:
Maybe someone can give me some in depth info about this “build” and about fencer but already a big thanks for your answers :slight_smile:
