Some Bothersome Aspects of TOS from a Newbie

So I’m loving the game no doubt about that, but there are some very worrisome bits that make me fear the games long term playability. I’ve come on here to share because it seems there is no way to talk to other players other than getting a megaphone, which I can’t find, or randomly whispering other players who are 90% unresponsive.

  1. The Market- Very worried about this as most of my game time in other games is finding ways to make the most game currency. In TOS the market seems an unreliable place to exchange goods and this could be a result of the few listings available to players (atm my free account gets 1 listing; Tokens I think 10). But, the few listings is also worrisome.

2)Buy-In Shop- It took me forever to find what this was called. I looked all through the ‘help’ and then searched google until I found a decent youtube video explaining how to open one of these shops, but F1 > etc. did not have the same layout, so I assume free players lack this function, though I still can’t verify this anywhere.

3)Media- Though TOS came out May 2016 there are so few videos/database sites for it. There is a bit for dungeons, but for the most part it’s oddly lacking and many of the sites showing data for items is incomplete. I’m not saying a game has to have this presence, but most games have plentiful data made by the community, which makes this game stand out and therefore, not a deal breaker, but still a little bothersome.

So far my buddy and I are really getting into it. I read someone’s con list saying it was “too grindy” which got me excited so I downloaded it, as no games are grindy now that need to be. For the short term I’ll be on a lot, but I’m unsure for the months that follow.

Just to be clear I’m still extremely pumped having a nice game to play and I still think TOS is super fun, I’m just wanting to voice a few of my concerns as my buddy and I have burnt through so many mmorpg’s lately and pretty much ditch each game after hitting end game, which occasionally ends up the same week on some.

In all honesty, doesn’t matter much how they, or users, do advertisement.

If they don’t remove these idiotic restrictions, that where at some extend to prevent bots/GS and didn’t even work a dimme, they will keep scaring new players.

Also, it past the time they do some fine tuning in the game, a game with no limit on enhancement and you see some OP weapon/armor out there, you can solo Raid instance, what fun have a game like that?

The market is anything but newbie/freemium friendly. 1 listing for free players and 10 listings for token players😑. This has persisted since release basically.

i’m 95% f2p for this game ‘w’ my experience is that stock up expensive stuff and sell them when you got an event token ‘w’

but while you are not, i find selling black drake drops are the easiest to sell for their price and drop rate

I see people in town with shops, how do I do this?

they’re services that’s related to their skill. not the item trading type of shops

it’s also a game feature where you can log off while your shop is open so that you can play other characters

you have to make a
Squire for: repair, weapon refinement and armor refinement shop.

Sage: Portal shop

Paradoner : Buff shop (note that u Need at least priest 1 for selling those buffs, buffs are highly influenced by your Spirit stat)

Enchanter: Enchant armor (you also can craft and sell skillscrolls via market, depending on your other ranks, (if iam not wrong u also have to learn those skills)

Oracle: gender Change

Alchemist: Gem roasting, also give u the aility to craft potions…

Appraiser: Identify shop

as a newbie, one of the most useful things u need is this one

PS.: let the theorycraft begin… :joy:

And one word of warning - do not hang out here in the forum too much or u may get depressed by all the “tos is dying” community that often dont play any more but still sticking to the Forum…like… you know… dont have to say it …

i recommend this planner over the simulator if you want to check out the skills.

it provides calculation details on how your stats affect the skill

a more detailed look on attributes

it also lists down monster gems that enhances the skills

item database also provides a simulator for upgrade calculation

the one provided to you by sascha is also good since it provides public builds shared by other players. though you may need to be more familiar with the skills in order to understand the builds

The buy-in shops were a great feature, too. Shame IMC had to remove them because their game is so ■■■■■■■ unoptimized that having that many people sitting in town with shops open would straight up crash people. Incompetence of the highest order.

Tbh I always thought the main reason they removed buy-in shop was because almost every single shop set by players was under-priced scam lol

nope, they removed it because people would use it to trade from account to account
i dont know why thats a bad thing… but this was all done to combat bots

there was rage in the air when they announced all these restrictive changes, they then added these features back but made them accessible by token to shove their marketing plan down the players throats

the players took it like champs, but eventually had to swallow that ■■■■
and now most of the QOL is strangled by having to buy tokens

The ToS Market is the worst I’ve seen in video game history. I been pestering them to give it life since the beginning but they’re scared/stubborn/dunno how economy works.
