Solutions for Worldboss problems

Decided to split the worldboss thread, because it has become mostly a unconstructive ragefest with wild accusations flying around.

If you disagree that any changes should be made this is not the thread for you and for obvious visibility reasons it is posted in the general section since the suggestion subforum is pretty much dead.

Make all boss spawns simultaniously (can click this) This will lead to groups having to chose. They can still get more bosses than the average but not all of them
Only a single cube per boss per day can be obtained unless during lucky times Lucky times would be primetimes e.g. 16:00 and 20:00 where the cubes obtained from the bosses would not count against the limit to enhance on the competitiveness about it
5% dmg = 1 cubeThat means if a party of 5 wishes to secure cubes for everyone they would need to deal 25% of the damage. If they fail to meet 25% whoever is allotted the cube is via round robin
Tanks & Healers contribute via aggro/healing

If you heal someone you siphon contribution from him. If you give him a or invul him and he gets hit it is considered the same as healing.

Tanking a boss for 100% duration equals a cube, if you battle for aggro with another tank 50% of the time you have a 50% chance. It is unfortunate but I don’t see a good system outside of this for now. Will give it another thought later. Maybe you can do something with AOE Defense Ratio here where they tank hits for others.

A mix of these ideas can be implemented to improve the lagfest for everyone involved. They are aimed at keeping the competitive aspect alive and at the same time provide a chance for active and strong solo players.

If you have even better ideas just slap them in here.

Fun fact, Final Fantasy XIV has these things called “Dynamic Events,” or “FATEs,” as they’re called. People often come to them not thinking that healing does no contribution, but it does. (Healing NPCs actually counts as well, seriously.)

So I support healing as contribution.

Probably unpopular but idea for tanks/healers:

  1. Implement toggle for all cleric ally skills to be party-exclusive (imo this is badly needed)
  2. Buff bosses so that it’s not actually feasible to try a boss without a decent tank and plenty heals
  3. Implement formula to balance damage taken/heal contribution
  4. Death for anyone resets contribution

Of course not! The system is fine as it is. You can’t kill world bosses because you are noobs and poor. If you want to kill bosses then create a class that does that.

Also, the system is fine as it is.

Sorry Guys, had to insert the worst arguments from people that think the system is fine right now, so that they may see how stupid those arguments are.

+1 for OP’s suggestions, I agree on every point except the 1st. The spawn tiems should be random between 2~4 hours for example.

Just let the system as it is, but put random spawn location and channel on bosses and put a random +30 -30 minutes from the respawn timer. Problem solved.

You mean like how Perfect World International has serious world bosses that actually takes 40+ people to kill? Yes, I agree that is a fine system. After all, they’re called “World” bosses.

But, I’ll echo something the Final Fantasy XIV developers said to players about content like this, “You don’t have to do hard content.” For instance, I don’t do Extreme Modes or Coils of Bahamut, they’re simply too hard for me, and people try to press me on that notion, “They’re so easy,” they say, mocking me, and whatnot basically.

lmfao… yea right. IMC should totally drop everything to rush out a buggy-as-hell version of this in less than a week.
and i mean literally drop everything. whatever they had planned for next week, just toss it out the window… just to make a crappy implementation of this idea.

(i’m not discussing the ideas posted by @Pappus at all; i’m saying that if they forced it out in a week, whatever they managed would be a buggy-a$$ mess.)

Just make the cube a random drop…

Rise bosses hp to make fights longer and hard and we’ll need help…if a full 280 party took 20~30 mins to kill a boss they will need help and more partys had a chance to find and beat this boss… and if a party hit 5~10% of boss hp…any member had a chance to drop a cube…

If a solo player want hunt world bosses…ok… hit 10% and u have a chance…

If you’re a healer or tanker and can’t dps…look for a party…that hit 10% and u have a chance…

If less partys want control the boss reapaw and drops…they can’t! Because only one or two partys don’t have enough dps…and only one member wanna get a cube…and if you are a casual player and found a boss…hit him too and pray for RNGesus…
