Until they thoroughly â– â– â– â– up ToS, when its actually in such a poor state that its unplayable, only then will i consider moving to BDO.
Not cause i think ToS is better than BDO, but just cause its more appealing to me personally, and really want things to work out
BD they block Asia’s IP anyway, so only one choice left
Black Desert? Nah, this is farm simulator for bots like ArcheAge.
Hard to compare both games, they are so different.
I had fun during the last BDO beta, but I don’t think it can keep me in love as long as ToS can.
The cash shop convince me not to pre order BDO.
BDO is very complex, as it requires thinking and planning. BDO is more for adults. It is definitely not for everyone, and it is not exactly meant for carebear, as the fun part is more focus on PvP and competition on resources. It is definitely for the super nerd.
ToS is more simple and focus on graphics.
I like BDO, and I find the community are being more intelligent. Their responses are more humor (or sarcasm, depends on your view). Very intelligent and educated player, as you can tell from their conversation.
So it’s either you have a nice PC or a crappy one.
ToS already requires more thinking and planning than other games nowdays… But anyway you made me curious about BDO… I only saw…maybe… the very first video of it…and it looked good but it is hard to impress me… XD …but I will check someday its features and stuff…if it’s rly not just a new brainless mmo I’m insterested. XD
Btw check out Revival too. It is rly promising but it’s in development so… I think we can expect it in like 2018… xD
ToS requires a one time plan on your class. BDO requires constant change to your trade route. You need to invest contribution points to connect your trade route for trades, to setup manufacture plant with workers. This will be constantly changing as you either get more contribution points or want to manufacture something else (eg. change from crafting a fishing boat to sell on AH to crafting weapons).
i played BDO CBT through OBT from asia ( using VPN )
i must say, BDO is a good MMORPG, so does ToS ( although i never joined the CBT )
it comes down to what style of MMO are you looking for?
for me, BDO is more like for the serious player and more advanced complex game. with more serious community and politics.
ToS is more for you to have fun, socialize and party/hunt together ( because you almost never need a party in BDO as you can single handedly solo every map except for some Bosses )
for me, it comes down to ToS, why? because i am a classic MMO player. since the days of Ragnarok, and it will be comfortable for me since i am used to this kind of MMO.
Unfortunately, my experience in ToS tells me that there is a lack of class diversity. And many people mentioned already, please do not compare this to Ragnarok, it is not even close in terms of what Ragnarok offered. It does not have the same community and guild structure that you think you would have.
That makes me depressed, but it’s the closest modern thing to ragnarok atm
BDO turned out to be a crappy game.
They even gender locked the classes.
I decided to never touch it. Despite waiting for it for years.
Their 2.5D game play is still interesting, just the game isn’t very diverse and lack progression (you feel you are doing the same thing over, just at different levels).
I don’t think it is crappy, but it is very complicated. It is for those who like planning on their trade routes and such, and those require to have above average intelligent to enjoy the game.
The gender lock is known ever since, and it depends on what part of the game you value.
So hows the endgame for ToS looking? I know its a relatively new game thats been rushed for released, but do they have raids, or any fun content for those that have reached max lvl, other than doing pvp?
ToS offer more sociality than RO. it’s a big advantage compare to most mordem MMORPG. It’s F2P and developer manage their own International servers.
There are still a lot of rooms for improvement and optimization, but it take time. Not mention TOS has been designed to allow IMCgames easily deal with botters, gold sellers, which RO and most MMORPG having trouble.
ofc, ToS still in early state so its balance and contents isn’t good enough to compare to Ragnarok, a game that has been release long time ago. But people should remember Ragnarok wasn’t really that good when it first release too.
When ToS get polished enough , it will be a great long term invest game, a game could bring you that old “home” feeling.
I been followed this game since IMC release it very first trailer in 2013, I read and translated a lot of info and interviews to my fellows, I joined both iCBT 1 and 2, the game has been changed a lot, IMCgames planned to launch their own servers and translates it to multi language before Korea got their first CBT 1, they worked very hard.
Thx for the reassurance, I honestly just like the casual friendly atmosphere that RO provided. I just hope that they would follow the example set by GW2 in terms of content expansions. The biggest thing im worried about is the map size and limitations on exploration, since to me thats the most important aspect of an MMORPG thats not suppose to be focusing on arena based pvps. In my opinion they should change the display of the minimap to show what should be seen from a birds eye view, instead of the narrow bland pathways that are set out for us.
Actually there are hidden maps in ToS, unforturnaly IMCgames still have a lot of problems to deal with (make new contents, release new class, translate, prepare for international servers,…), so they haven’t bring good contents to these hidden maps and outdoor zone yet. Everyone keep rushing to max level and ignore them.
You should know that Arena isn’t its core content, it’s just a goal for players, there are GvG for mass PVP and Earth towers for PVE, but I recommend you not to rush levels because IMCgames need more time to polish these contents.
Just enjoy your moments with your friends, TOS is a great game for party play since each class and build support different roles and purpose (some classes will get their own QoL changes because they are still incomplete), if you don’t have any friend to play with, don’t worry you could easily make friend with strangers by invite random players or do dungeons with party matching feature.
I thought GvG had no rewards tho o.o
