So I'm browsing through the Steam sale

And I’m just wishing I had some ToS. No other game seems to hold my interest any more. I played the Black Desert beta and it just isn’t nearly as fun for me as ToS was. The same goes for BnS, Devillian, ELOA and everything else I’ve tried to scratch that particular itch.

Is anyone else having this particular problem? I swear I would drop $100 on a founders pack at this very moment.

We need to be patient, what’s the point of playing an eternal obt full of bugs and even pay for it?

Look at Kobt – you still have to use statues twice after all these months, the party bug reappeared a few days ago (announced to be fixed but who knows for how long?), skills are being changed every day, the market is bugged - items that have already been sold are still listed and you keep clicking Buy just to see that you cannot buy the item, etc, new bugs are being found every day and yet, the cash shop will open soon.

BnS didn’t changed a thing since it was announced, boring as hell, i received a key to participate on beta and got bored in the first 10 mins, the only good thing about that game is the graphics.
Devilian is the generic one, a mix of Tera (or so i heard it is based on char models) with Titan Quest (skill system is exactly the same), get boring fast, i like that you can solo the dungeons, but even so.
ELOA i used to play when it was Inspirit Online (i think that was the name) its identical to Devilian in game play aspect, i stopped playing when i noticed that the people publishing it wasn’t taking care of the game properly and later on it was announced by the developer they didn’t had a contract and was shut down (thank god i didn’t expend money on it).

Other stuff that i tried is:

  • Elite Dangerous, i do play every now and then, it is fun, the only complain i have about it is the server instability sometimes.
  • PoE, the new league seem a bit boring tbh.
  • Darkspore is hell fun, but playing alone can be boring, i love the customization on that game, whoever played spore know what i’m talking about.
  • And lately i started to play Diablo 3 again, trying to finish my last season objective but not that easy and i doubt i will finish since the season is about to end.

I am still trying to find something to keep me distract while waiting for ToS.

well i bought witcher 3, planing to buying dying light to play with a friend but so far no mmo to play =/

you could check out Humble Bundle. If you’re a fan of Square Enix games, they have a pretty good deal now to get ~9 games for about $5 USD. That should be enough to keep a person busy until iOBT right? And if you play on Windows that purchase even comes with FFXIV with the standard 30 days free. I mostly just bought the bundle to get The Last remnant, I hope it’s good. But standby to drop everything as soon as we get word on iOBT starting, lol. So excited

Pretty bad selection imo, i mean at least for FFXVI lol, not in position to be paying sub right now, i do have an acc on it tho, played for 4 months, its a fun game, just the community is a bit bad, i only see people who played FFXI get banded together there so whoever is outsider have to deal with some ill mannered players. Specially for Raids like Titan EX, man i miss that fight, lots of people getting pushed from the ring haha.

Front Mission Evolved i got on my lib, its a nice game, would be nicer if people played MP, Last Remnant is a nice RPG.

I can’t stand Lara Croft games anymore tbh, not my cup of tea.

I hate sqaure enix… they ruined it.

I’ve played everything listed here. Some of them are fantastic games. This Witcher 3 in particular has the best writing of any game ever created, but the world is just soooo dark that I have to play it in small chunks. While the game itself is astounding, the world of the witcher series as a whole is dark and joyless.

Ffxiv is a great game as well, but I stopped pkaying before Heavensward released. Got burned out running World of Darkness on my bard over and over.

The fact that I could play ToS for over 250 hours and enjoy every minute despite its bugs, glitches and flaws goes to show that this game is something special.

I am not sure what level you are for Black Desert. As far as I know, level 1 - 50 are tutorials. Until you get over level 50, and make trade nodes and setup house for workers for more production, you are not going to see the actual game.

As for Steam, some people suggested:
Rocket League (on discount)
Grand Theft Auto (on discount)
Civilization V (on discount)
Fallout 4
Cities: Skylines (on discount)

Im the complete opposite to be honest… have been hyped on both TOS and Black Desert for what seems like years. and now after playing the BDO beta. Im 100% sold on it.

Tos was riddled with TONS of bugs… SUPER grindy with little rewards… to much of a incompleteness if you will to the game… and BDO even tho grindy as well was SUPER polished… very minimal to no bugs. MOST features were working in game already…

Its gonna be a SUPER hard sell for me to come back to TOS to be honest. I can see myself full heartily skipping all remaining Betas because im scared they will make me dislike ToS even more. I feel ill smash my face into black desert online at release… and hopefully sometime when BDO starts to lose its shine TOS comes out and is basically at minimum a 80% improvement over what the beta showed… if not… ehh looks bleak imo

ToS may not be the best game out there, yea I dislike the super grindy with little reward, they created versatile classes system but the grind only make me feel like to play 1 only. Hope they improve that

Nevertheless, I just feel the simplicity of 2.5D is what make my eye comfort and sustain, at least I don’t have to keep rotate my screen. It still my first choice

Pretty much what I feel after playing Black Desert Online over the past week. Even though I prefer 2.5D, cosmetic character settings and stats allocation, but the in-depth features are much more polished. At least what they are promoting is truly great.

While I agree that Black Desert is interesting, with tons of features and things to do, I was just bored for the entire beta weekend. The graphical engine is impressive yet the art is uninspired and boring. The entire world, from what I saw, was very bland. The character creation at first glance is very impressive, but it is also extremely limiting. The character creation tools in BnS are far more impressive, and allow for a far greater sense of freedom.

I found Black Desert to be very akin to Eve Online. Tons and tons of systems to allow it’s players to do as they please, but a lot of those systems feel like going to work. There is no immediate satisfaction while playing the game. Everything takes such a long time to do that you get bored halfway through. Lets chop that tree! Sixteen seconds later your character laboriously finishes the last swing of the axe. Whelp, guess I’ve had enough tree chopping.

There were moments while playing that I had a good time, but the tedium in between those moments was overpowering. I feel that BDO will have it’s niche audiance just as Eve does, but just like Eve before it, it just isn’t for me.

I think it’s the overall aesthetic of ToS that draws me in. I love the psuedo 2D art, the character design, the music. I fell in love with the class system before I ever tried the game. I honestly didn’t mind the grind one bit as even the humdrum was interesting in ToS due to it looking and playing so damn brilliant.

I completely agree. The real draw to BDO past the tedious farming/trading and the graphics, is pvp. If you like guild pvp, that’s open world, this is that game.

As someone who likes a more whole experience, that isn’t just farming/trading, and classes that are pretty limited in terms of being different than someone else of the same class, I really like ToS a lot more than anything on steam, or newer MMO’s like BDO.

Don’t get me wrong though, I really do like guild pvp, but I think I’ve been put off by the unrewarding open world pking, and then the sieges that every game seems to like to do.

Did you hire workers to do those for you?
In the Korean version, I think they have faster energy regen as well.

Meanwhile, I am not sure you get into the game in one week. People said before level 50, it is tutorial, which is expected to be boring, and you cannot enjoy the game, as most features are not discovered.

It seems more like a management sim really. Just didn’t click with me is all. If the regular minute to minute gameplay is boring I just don’t see the point.

I thought it is built for PvP and GvG, but people said you won’t get there until you are level 50, as you don’t get all the core skills until then.

Maybe different people will feel the game is boring. There is a big learning curve, and there are too much information at the beginning (all those quests just to get you to level 50 for the beginning of the game).

i’m playing eso and its great =)

I played eso as well, up until I got into the ToS icbt. I had a good time, though it does need more skill variety.

I found what I will be playing until the next test. Keep in mind that I have gamed on PC exclusively for around 20 years. I find consoles to be nothing but a cheap alternative with limited game selection powered by even more limited hardware controlled by inferior gamepads. With that being said, I was looking for isometric games in the style of ToS and started getting nostalgic for SoM and the early Zelda games.

This led me to a game called Rune Factory 4 on the 3ds. The combat is similar to SoM, but the game is a weird mashup of Harvest Moon and arpg. So I thought I might as well give it a try.

This morning I picked up a NewNintendo 3ds XL, Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and Rune Factory 4. i’m having a blast.

Fallout 4 has a 15% discount in my region. Not sure if you like these kind of game.
