So I would like to ask something related to Swordman

Ello dere.

Even though most of us do not still know anything about the game, the chance to get a beta key is low, I would like to ask now to begin readying my build.

You see, I’ve always liked the concept of sword&magic. If this were Ragnarok Online, I guess I’d choose to be a Rune Knight. However, I’ve been surfing through all the classes from the swordman tree, and none of them seem to have any relation to magic swordmanship. I suppose that, as of actually, it is impossible to do something similar to magic fencing on the Swordman classes?

On the other side, i was also planning on rolling a Squire. Utility powers, of course, but I was also wondering on how valued would be said class on dungeon groups or incursions to dangerous places, based on the 4 ransk chosen before Squire. (If you’re going to be a Squire, better go all the ranks and level up any necesity to aid your groups!) Would I be able to deal a significant damage by myself? Or are squires condemned to stay out of groups, at the entrance of every dungeon, to give food, sharpening, and maintaining services?

We dont know yet. At least Swordsman has attribute to equip Staff Instead of other weapons like a mace or hammer…Which is weird… Maybe it has created for future classes that support Mage Swordman combo?

magic swordsmen are essentially a Melee Caster go take Cleric tree take paladin if you want to look like a swordsman

Squire is just one of the high tier classes you got other tier classes to deal the DPS for you, as of Tank role its only Peltast that trully offers it. So it depends on your build if your going to be useful or not.

Due to the class system, no character will ever be completely useless in a party. Think about the ranks before Squire. You can build a DPS Squire if you choose classes like Highlander or Barbarian beforehand, or maybe act as a tank if you choose Peltasta.

I don’t really have a problem with it, might actually do it, but aren’t they only proficient with maces or something? Then again, pickyness doesn’t get you anywhere.

actually Highlander can double as a debuffer; Crown can lower enemy INT and ill assume Scull Swing reduces armor to ZERO.

I totally agree to this.

However if you are really planning on being a support Squire by all means grab all the supporting skills from lower tiers.

By support skills, you mean any skills that have any debuffing/buffing effect on the enemy/ally party, correct? Something like Crown, Pommel Beat, or Arrest.

On the other hand, I don’t know yet how tanking works in this game, but if I have access to taunting abilities and aggro maintaining, it shouldn’t be any problem even with Squire as my last rank, right?

Yep. If you choose Peltasta and rank it all the way to circle 3, you’ll have yourself a good tank Squire.

You can also take a look at the mage class Thaumaturge which seems to be a hybrid between physical and magical damages and it could even equip swords (I think there will be a wide range of weapons for each class?)

You should go explore for hidden classes. I get the feeling they MUST’VE included something of the sort in the game, or at least they will in the future.

i guess the hidden classes is a good move and i guess to they will be in the release/beginning of the game , i dont think they going to put in the future.

The only situation where I believe a character will be useless is if two support-oriented clerics (with a similar build) clash on the same party and one of them has the higher level buffs. But it will very rarely happen.
