I really like that your character feels powerful by itself and that gearing up is much easier than in other MMOs.
Compare it to Ragnarok - you took ages to get a character to have decent gear, making money was almost impossible if you weren’t MVP hunting; getting end game weapons like Ice Pick, multi-carded +10 Composite Bow, etc took months and months of gathering money. The gap between very good and decent gear was enourmous and even with decent gear you couldn’t solo harder things in the game. Soloing/2-manning a multi-million HP boss was restricted to the 2-3 big guild leaders with 2 Megingjards.
In ToS you can get a character up and running from ground 0 till the practonium questline in less than a month. You can make basic (very good) gear sets in a day (Grynas, wich lasts up till ET gear). Partying is much more “let’s speed up things” than “well it’s impossible to do this without a party” before tevhrin and the likes. Only at 300+ your character will be taking more than 1/5th of it’s life with a single hit, and even then ToS has so many immunity/cheesy mechanics that it’s not a big deal. The gap between 315 purple and 315 orange isn’t as great as good to excellent gear in other MMOs. Getting a 315 weapon is a matter of being luck with the practo box, it just eventually happens. You can easily make 2m+ a day with just a few alts, wich over the span of a month gives you enough money to gear up to the teeth any character.
Also leveling in ToS is much faster than any other MMO. Giving that leveling is still incomplete, let’s compare it to the original 99 on Ragnarok - it took months, years to get to 99. On ToS you can get to 330 in 2 weeks with a new character if you are already stabilished in the game.
TL;DR: ToS is a casual MMO.
