I have been reading a lot about tanking, and became a little disapointed by peltasta and rodelero. I also liked the idea of a really defensive build with pel3 and rod3, but as some other people have commented, both classes offer little to no rewards by getting them to 2nd or 3rd circle.
I’m lvling a new tank char right now (pel1) and seriously thinking about taking Hop c2 or even c3, mainly because of Finestra. Let’s compare them:
High Guard: at lvl 10 it gives +240 block, -50% attack rate, and -100 crit rate (You need pel c3 to max this buff)
Finestra: at lvl 10 it gives +20% block, crit chance +100 and -28 evasion (You need hop c2 to get it to lvl 10, and c3 to max it at lvl 15, getting even more block)
As we can see, even tough HG gives a good amount of block, it is a flat amount and at higher lvls will become less significant. Also it debuffs your attack a lot. Finestra, on the other hand, diminishes evasion but it’s not that terrible, specially at higher lvls. Not only it increases block by a scaling %, it also pumps your crit.
So, at the moment, there seems to be no reason to get pel to c2 or even c3, if one wants to buff up block without losing a lot damage output.
So now I’m thinking in something like: Pel 1 > Hop 2/3, and then a mix between Rod and Fencer. Sorry for the long post, I would appreciate feedback by those who have been tanking as either of the classes commented.
