Tree of Savior Forum

😸 [Not a quit post] See ya'll on R9 (or if ever another must-do event happens; new, interesting content is added; another significant patch comes that makes the game worth rediscovering)

More like a hiatus post.

Game’s gotten significantly good the past few weeks - that’s coming from me who used to passively doompost about it. The rise in average players http://i.imgur.com/mR4zpcs.png is one indication of that (another is the number of listings in the market I guess and the population in ch1 of the 3 major cities and popular grind/farm spots).

The reset event has been super fun. I hope they hold more of these each time a new rank is added or there’s another significant rework to game mechanics, and hopefully still unlimited for a time duration unlike what happened in November (or October, I forgot) where it was only one-time.

I’ve exhausted all possible builds I wanted to try. After sticking to the builds I’ve found comfortable and fun, there’s this old familiar feeling that’s surfaced again. The game has gotten subjectively boring again.

###PVE

Maybe it’s because I don’t do ET anymore nor was ever interested in Solmiki due to time constraints and being a mostly solo player, I’ve returned to the same ā€œlogin to do dailies, farm 315 mats (to sell or use), magnum opus this and thatā€ to progress. We at least have HGs now but somehow the experience having spent a good amount of time there didn’t feel ā€œnewā€.

The DPK system, at least the kind I’m aware of, has been both a boon and a bane for high-DPK material hunters like myself. It’s nice that you can predict when the next drop is nearing. It’s NOT nice when there is at least one other person farming the same mob as you in y̶o̶u̶r̶ the same channel but you have no right nor good reason to tell him to change to another channel, especially when those are already occupied as well.

Then there’s this talk (not sure if already implemented or not) of a shared DPK for all channels in a map - what’s worse than not getting a drop after hours of farming due to RNG is not getting a drop after hours of farming because other players from other channels are getting ā€œyourā€ drops due to cross-channel DPK. It gets worst when they kill significantly faster than you.

This other ā€œdiminishing DPKā€ kind of thing seems nice on paper but some people has been saying this isn’t the case, at least yet here on iTOS.

I’d rather farm hundreds of something with moderate DPK or drop rate than 20 of something with insane DPK (and worst when cross-channel). I hope IMC looks well into this drop issue and come up with a solution ASAP as more and more players are becoming aware of or experiencing this.

###PVP

TBL and GvG is still decided by the team with the luckiest or best (or sometimes OP) composition. The randomness of TBL matchmaking is still kinda problematic for me, and offered solutions are not without unlikable effects. Gear difference, I think, has been what’s causing new players to shy away from joining. At least that’s what I would think if I was a new player getting OHKO’ed on my first TBL match.

Not due to nostalgia or anything, but I found the good ol’ standardized-gear TBL last year more fun. I hope IMC considers the suggestions made by the community regarding PVP balance and making it more feasible to everyone while keeping gear progression worth doing.

###Until then…

I’m sure a lot of you feels different and are still having tons of fun playing the game, especially those who’ve established social connections with other players or just like RP-ing.

I don’t have anything to say to old/veteran players as most have probably found at least a thing or two that made them want to login regularly. Maybe there are a few like me too - just waiting for the next big thing from this game.

The only advice I can offer is for newer players: don’t rush, enjoy the journey, and make lots of friends in-game. This is an MMORPG after all, or at least what it’s trying to be. Despite its flaws, the game is fun as long as you treat it like a game, not a job.

ps I will still keep track of the news section and will probably check the forums from time to time. No, I don’t have any other games to play. TOS is hardly replaceable with anything else at the moment. This is a game of its own, like how RO was back in the old days.

Since IMC said they would try their best to bring R9 in this year, I am looking forward to seeing more people come back (including you). Pausing playing to ā€œgrindā€ irl then come back later at rank 9 is a good idea because the game is pretty boring now.

See ya!

Why not just log in daily for saalus at least? that way u can trans your weap higher when u come back

It’s only half an hour a day for a few toons, not a big investment in time

I guess I just have better things to do, and Saalus is unfortunately the most boring daily for me. Also, I can get more silver value of out farming 315 mats than running Saalus for the same amount of time especially now that shards have become significantly cheaper (hitting 120k last I looked).

You’ll still be occasionally shitpost here with us right?

Don’t forget to keep a reserved token(s) at hand for when you come back.

People who stayed with the game for an entire year, got tired even now that things got better. Game lacks of PvP content it always did or FPS optimization/several bugs didn’t let IMC progress on that matter. TBL has some restrictions like Dispellers/HP reductions making people play CC metas for 5v5 and 1 shot metas for 2v2s. I would really like to play PvP as it is, you don’t need stage 10s to kill TOP RMTs on open areas, but TBL makes it hard to plan and make strategies just for fun and not for ranking.
Rank 9 wouldn’t make sense without a PvP content that defines Tree of Savior, just like WoE did on RO. And it needs to come soon or people are gonna leave regardless, just like what’s happening to you.

Can’t blame anyone who has multiple R8s for being bored with the game now tbh. I hope IMC works quickly to maintain the new/returning players because this patch was definitely a big step towards making the game a success, but it needs more than just a new rank with more of the same. They need to renew and improve old concepts for content like PVP and world bosses while also introducing new ones. If the R9 update just adds more hunting grounds and more 600 DPK materials to grind and ends up being as devoid of content as R8 was on release, I don’t expect all these players to stick around.

Hahaha I guess. Yeah still have about 5 or 6 tokens (2 are the 60-day founder’s) I think. There was a time last year before transcendence happened when I just didn’t know what to do with my silver so I bought lots of tokens.

@NotVau @SlyGoat true! We can probably some these up as: more ACTUAL content (not just reskinned dailies/events), better PVP experience, then bug fixes of course.

AFAIK, we haven’t had a PVP event yet. I’ve seen guilds doing voluntary tower siege battles which is really fun to watch and probably join (my guild has become PVE-only since the ā€œneutralityā€ patch).

hey guys ill be back when im stronger without trying lol…

Some people do enjoy being considered the strongest or richest or most popular in an MMORPG, but I’d trade my ā€œUndefeated Bladeā€ title for some nice archer costume any day if it was possible (my Pilgrim costume doesn’t go well with being mounted on a b/w penguin).

Exactly. I dont know why people full lolo/solmiki; trans 10 +15 organe 315 weapons are still playing, literally only can farm equipo for alts or other people and run solmiki again and again. We need content right now.
