And that’s where you’ll grab some people’s biases by the balls and twist 'em. Now any replies will be just a matter of you don’t know what you’re talking about, you should play the game, I’m better than you because interacting with a lot of colorful pixels makes my penis larger, etc.
Fucktards will never read past this line. Lesser fucktards will read with a so biased view because of this line they’ll understand nothing and proceed to bash you. Which is a shame, because your text is quite accurate.
3 character slots is pretty generous for typical f2p mmo’s, and 2 or even only 1 free slot is hardly uncommon.
quoting one example that is hilariously far out of the standard range simply makes you look unreasonable.
it’s kind of difficult to consider this to be “against respec”.
if you’re just going to edit what i say to anything you feel like in your head, then why even bother discussing things with other people? have your imaginary conversations by yourself.
i simply said it’s not going to happen, because basically everything worth trading CAN be traded freely within your own account, if you make the effort to get a token. almost everything “untradeable” is a quest reward, and can be replaced, guaranteed, the same way you got it the first time.
and really, the time invested in leveling the character is -far- more significant than the time spent gathering gear, mats, and currency.
Hell, my TL;DR doesn’t even mention respec at all.
Path of Exile is a good example because of how successful it is as a free to play game. It’s not pay to win and it makes the great majority of it’s money off cosmetics and inventory space. (while leaving enough for non-paying players to enjoy the game)
It’s high amount of free character slots does nothing but promote playing the game. People play longer, people invest more money.
Well that was hardly constructive criticism, was it?[quote=“tzxazrael, post:23, topic:238342”]

I’m gonna quote myself again, and I swear this is the last time.[quote=“spamb0x, post:1, topic:238342”]
The only reason that is done is when there is literally no meaningful choices in the way you make your character until you reach max level, and the only difference between you and the next player is your character name, gear (that can otherwise be easily bought of the auction house) and cosmetics.

ToS has enough classes, circles and skills that unless you’re straight up copying a build, most people won’t be absolutely identical. And there’s always stat points. The point is that the game has enough content to not need such a heavy restriction on character slots( though still generous compared to most free mmorpg whose quality I won’t debate here again)
And now you might ask:
“Well, how do you know, you haven’t played the game?”
To which I’ll answer:
Little bit of research, a whole lot of baggage, me assisting to the funerals of many games and generally not being a dumbass. I can be a d**k from time to time, I may not be a genius, but I’m not a common idiot.
It’s unbelievably rare to see FTP developers actually give a damn about their game(s), enough to actually do something when it needs to be done.
Over the years I’ve seen games with potential, developers (or shareholders) ruining what took years to make for the sake of just one more penny in their pockets, until it came crashing down on their heads.
This time again, I see a game with potential. I see developers that, so far, seem to actually give a ■■■■. I SHOULD not get my hopes up, but I do, just like every single time. Only time will tell if this game succeeds or fails.
I’m just trying to help, if it means anything.
You don’t want my help? That’s fine, I’ll just keep on writing essays to myself. It doesn’t really hurt anyone as long as I’m not completely spouting nonsense, and I do try to avoid that, but it’s true that sometimes I get stuck rambling, like this for instance. Have a nice day.
or when they simply decide “i dunno, 2 seems like a good number.”
extensive and meaningful character choices does not automatically qualify you with the right to lots of free character slots.
i think my whole point basically boils down to…
“why would you pick things they simply aren’t going to change to be what you want to argue about?”
Do you believe that in the free to play business where companies desperately try to milk every penny off their customers that a decision like how many character slots are available is made based on something like gut feeling(Not that you mentioned gut feeling)? A decision that might at first come off as a potential loss of profit can instead increase the potential for profit if it helps keeping players playing and customers happy.
That is indeed correct. A not-so-tight restriction encourages players to keep playing longer however, theorycraft new builds and just mess around without feeling as penalized due to the restriction on slots. The more people play, the more likely they are to spend money. The goal, (and what is often brushed off or simply forgotten) is to avoid pissing off your customers before they get to that point.
Because that’s top of the list of most common mistakes made by free to play games (and some not-so-free ones too). Additionally, I see it as a far more elegant solution to desiring respec, without alienating half the playerbase.
As a sidenote, I’ve been up for longer than it is healthy to be and I appear to be losing my edge. I’ll go over this when I wake up later.
