Simple change that will help everyone

EXP TOME
-Market Price from 9 to 5

This way, newbies and people in general could well prepare for the 145-186 exp wall that the game does not prepare you for, opting to save their free 5 tp / day to something that they could actually use for their benefit.

Warpstone
-Now has 2 overheat (Cooldown of 59 minutes)

A simple tweak that could benefit the lot of us, there is not much to be said here, also this cannot be abused during PVP/War since a person with the intention of using Warpstone to avoid death would instead use a 500 tele scroll with no cooldown.

Name Display Feature
-Users are able to choose between Name and Team Name to display in chat and shouts
-To Add; users with the same Names are given a chance to change it upon logging in.

Lets be real here, lot of you never knew that it is the Team Name that actually matters when you first started. but the one issue in this is that you get to have 4 characters, 4 different classes, 4 different builds, except that no matter who you play between them, in the end ,they are all named the same. By giving the users an option to change between Name and Team Name display, you are basically catering to both of your fanbase, those who want to play as an actual different character with a different name, and those who want the current system to remain.

Report Bot function
-Target user will have to solve captcha within 5 minutes

  • If successful, the target is immune to further reports for 30 minutes (ish)
  • If unsuccessful, the target is unable to attack and cast spell for 30 minutes (or even better; warped to their respective cities)

I think this is pretty much self explanatory, the reason why I chose not to disconnect possible bots is that with the game forcing them to become unable to attack or cast spells, they cant do anything within their power since it is the game’s coding that is preventing them. think of it like this, how could a bot farm anything at all if their weapons and spells are locked? The bot would still be there, the bot would still be online, but the bot would be wasting its time just standing there. It is the game that has allowed them to attack and cast spells because it is within the game’s feature, and it is their [bots] purpose to exploit them, now its time for the game to strip off this feature to those who can’t solve the captchas in a specific period of time.

My main reason for this is that IMC cant hire GM’s or any kind of enforcer to monitor the game 24/7 or any time at all, so why not give that power to the people actually playing and are actually passing through these possible bots while playing?

Bonus (unnecessary but completely rewarding)

Jail Area
-All users unable to solve the captchas are thrown into the Jail Area

  • The Jail Area is a small map that has 1 NPC on it; the Warden
  • in-order to escape the Jail Area, Users must talk to the Warden and complete a short quest from him
  • Quests should be simple, something like press spacebar to pick up the soap, or another captcha
  • Users unable to escape the Jail Area within 7 days (1 week) will have their character’s deleted or Locked.

I don’t know. A part of me is for things to annoy botters and potentially reduce the amount of botters, but the logical part of me knows that these solutions can be worked around quite easily. It’s also worth noting that botters know how to hack into games and apply cheats that let them warp and teleport around.

It seems to be very hard for a game company to write code to detect this sort of behavior. In fact, FFXIV botters were frequently hiding below the ground or inside walls, sniping at monsters and there was no instant detection for them there.

But I feel you are in the right direction to solving this problem. I haven’t had any experience programming against botters personally but I feel that the right direction to take is to give the community some sort of power to fight off botters WITHOUT having a side effect of allowing griefing and trolling to come from it.

A person reported as a bot by multiple people over a few days could typically be banned. But can this be abused to grief others?

Let’s look at what the major problem could be from this kind of system:

This game encourages you to grind on the field right? I’m doing it right now while writing this… just mindlessly running around swatting at monsters. A player might mistake me for a bot because of how repetitively I’m grinding on the field map. Not many people, if any, are going to bother doing a bot check anyways right?

What IMC could do that might actually work well is to design a algorithm that detects bot patterns. In order to greatly reduce and almost eliminate wrongful banning is to make it so after someone has been reported a number of times, their character actions are immediately recorded and submitted to the algorithm for testing for bot patterns and automatically banned.

But it’s all great in theory but will it work in practice?

I would rather delete my character.

Your suggestions are great… cept

I cannot disagree with @mrshadowccg

How about we take a step further…
Space bar to pick up soap…
50% to complete…
50% chance to get bend over and get rekt from behind

In Rng jesus we trust

Dont take me seriously though… the above suggestion are great… but cept that

the bot programmers will prob find a way to bypass that bar of soap and be home free again

Yes, you are all correct that they could simply teleport away or move as fast as they can using scripts and codes (heres to hoping that annoying Moving Validation error gets them too)

BUT. stripping away their metaphorical weapons and spells would greatly hinder their performance, yes they are back to the same place now, but like I said in the OP, they would be there, online and up, but will do nothing but stand and waste its time.

To program a code or a script to bypass weapon/spells locks, it would take a very skilled individual to actually pull it off, He would be manipulating the game’s code itself, that would be like bypassing maintenance and continue botting while everybody else is unable to enter, and IF it comes to that then we have bigger problems than merely botting, the game code itself is too vulnerable and is up to IMC’s competence to do something about it.

I have to make my statement clear, if it is part of the game’s feature to lock your ability to attack and cast spell the same way it is part of the game’s feature for you to give you loot upon killing an enemy, then possible bots would have a very hard time to create a bypass since it would require access to the game’s coding itself, the amount of effort to get your hands on it and to actually pull it off would technically mean that they could just easily edit their gold into XXX number and be done with it.

Botters use a third party program, meaning that they are using another program apart from Tree of Savior, meaning that they arent exactly hacking the game itself, but they are using an ā€˜outside-hack’ to do the work, its the same as pressing the Z key with a book, but WAAY more advanced, it is a program that exploits the game’s FEATURE to give you loot upon killing an enemy, by locking their ability to kill an enemy you’re basically setting them up to a dead end, how in the world would they bypass not killing an enemy when it is within the game itself that is preventing them to do so?

Note that IMC has done nothing to prevent bots from getting loot, they have done nothing at all but use a few GMs to manually ban the bots, only for them to resurface a few minutes later.

You dont kill a tree by whacking the trunk with an ax. You take the battle to the roots, to where it is nourished, to where it is actually vulnerable.

No one said it was a bad idea lolz… i find that it is a great idea cause some spells or skills require weapons to be used

Well im not saying ur ideas are bad…but

what makes u think they can’t design a simple algorithm to identify the soap…in this case…u can identify the soap with color ā€œAutoIt Colorā€ā€¦or bypass a captcha like in cabal…looking at the way things are now…

Let alone there no game guard for this game to identify 3rd party software …though most of the time i find it redundant if it isn’t patch frequrently

Yes, they could bypass a soap by using some kind of especially complex algorithm, but like I said, if you take their ability to attack and cast spells, then they would become some pretty useless teleporting bots.
