Shift + Tab Toggling chat mode and Steam Overlay

Currently the chat mode is toggled between normal, shout, and party by pressing Shift + Tab. by default Shift + Tab is the same key combination to open the Steam overlay. Too many times I’ve opened the Steam overlay to replay to someone then get back in game to talk to someone only to find out that I just said it in shout instead of normal chat. I know I’m not the only one have this problem.

I could change the button combination for the steam overlay, but doing a workaround wont solve the problem for new players who still have steam settings to default. We also shouldn’t have to change are steam settings just for one game either. Maybe bind it to the “~” key instead? What do you guys think?

Just change your steam overlay hotkey…

The point of the beta is to fix problems, NOT make workarounds for everything that goes wrong.

If you want to try go on the game folder (TreeOfSavior/Release) and open the hotkey.xml with a text editor (notepad or notepad++(recommended) AND BEFORE DOING ANY CHANGE TO THE FILE MAKE A BACKUP OF IT) search for the line that refer to the chat tab and modify it.

Now tell me how to fix that? Can you code the game? If you wont do any constructive feedback to the person asking for help then dont bother, simple as that. IMC will add an in-game keybind option, but until then we have to do something on our side or deal with the small problems and move on.

I don’t think this a problem.
So if you use a program and it use a same hot key with your game, so u will request them to change hot key just for you since you can change your program hot key just take like 2-3 seconds

I had the same problem on other game (Killing Floor 2) everytime i had to press TAB to check the scores while sprinting (pressing Shift) the steam overlay came up, so i had to change the key on steam.

Ikr, played CS:GO and i need to change it too.
But we can’t ask steam change it just because we don’t feel comfortable in a game, and they already lets us to change the hotkey
